Folders would solve all these issues, though one limitation of folders I’ve noticed is that a playlist/subfolder can only report to one parent folder. If you wanted to offer an even better organization service than Spotify/Tidal, adding a label attribute to playlists (similar to JIRA tickets) and being able to sort and shuffle play via one or more labels could be better?
Labels essentially being a meta folder that doesn’t dedicate a child item to only one parent folder. For more user friendliness, this system could be disguised in a folder UI and just let people add playlists/subfolders into multiple parent folders.
I’d be happy with just folders, but wow, labels are a fabulous idea that I’d also like to see.

My free trial is about to end and the lack of this feature is making me think to return to Spotify. There are some other minor things that would contribute to this decision, but this one is really important to me.

Hello
It’s a project that takes time, as we want to make sure to label all the catalogue correctly.
Unfortunately I don’t know how long you will have to wait, but we are on it!

Playlist folders are an absolute necessity--it’s the number one reason I haven’t made the switch from Spotify to Deezer! I’m someone who is obsessed with making a playlist for everything. I think I literally have hundreds of curated playlists on Spotify, many of which are sorted into custom folders. A feature like this might get me to finally cancel Spotify and subscribe to Deezer.

Hi there
Great feedback and suggestion, linking with the idea you created
The good thing is that our product managers are looking into this next year, because we want to make it more personalised for you :thumbsup_tone2:
It’s been a year. Is there a better channel so we can get updates on this?

I would very much like to organise my playlists by folders, not genre. I have music I listen to while driving and working (country and blues), cycling (mostly Southern rock) and swimming (mostly metal and grindcore), it would be much more helpful to let me lable and sort myself rather than rely on Deezer’s tags/ genre classifications

You are absolutely right. I also have several styles that I put together in one folder. I think it's worth giving customers the option to make personal adjustments

I saw a community manager say (8 months ago) people were not being specific enough in this thread (??), so here goes.
Please give us the ability to make a folder for playlists. In said folder, give us the ability to add playlists (and subfolders!) so we can group them. Then, in the playlist tab, you could add a sorting option 'Folders/Maps/etc’ to select for the people who have made folders. There could also of course be a separate tab for it, whatever's the preference for the people implementing this feature.
For example (aka what I had in Spotify), I would like to make a folder 'Spotify Playlists’. In that folder, I'd like to have subfolders like 'Workout’, 'Moods’, 'Concentrate’, 'Roadtrips’, 'User Playlists’, that all contain the playlists I added. I'd also like to have a separate folders for my playlists like 'Musicals’, 'Soundtracks’, 'Albums’, 'Writing Music’, 'Older Playlists’, 'New Playlists’, whatever, everyone has their own things they want to sort, but if we can make our own folders, we can utilise it however we want!
Basically, look at how Spotify (desktop) allows folders. Many of us come from Spotify and would be delighted to have something similar with Deezer.
I don't know how we could make it more clear how a feature like this could work for so many of us. I have nearly 500 playlists. The fact that this feature isn't available despite the obvious demand for it over the years is a tiny bit ridiculous. I really don't want to go back to Spotify but I'm drowning in playlists, please help :(
What he says!
I am quite new @Deezer. Thought to give it a try since the Spotify app sucks more and more as the years go by.
I really like that you offer an external service for migrating your playlists.
But...what a mess it is now. I migrated ~190 playlists….and there is no option to organize them? All packed into to one tree/structure/directory? And after 5 years nothing apparently nothing has happened? - Why?

An essential feature that was suggested years ago, so perhaps will never happen.
It would be extremely useful, though. surely this wouldn’t be too hard to implement. Even using very broad definitions of genres would be fine.

Idea created 5 years ago so it will probably never be implemented. A lot of people will look for an alternative to Spotify now (like me) after the terrible app redesign and radio silence regarding HiFi. The best way to make sure these people stay is to offer the basic functionality that they were used to (especially that existing Deezer users want it too!).
What a missed opportunity...

Agree 100% with need for folders. Spotify and Tidal both have the ability to create folders for playlists. Deezer’s service and apps are great overall,. but this is that one feature I really wish it had.

This is in the top 10 most voted ideas across the entire Deezer community...why on earth would this not be a priority? More than a few people consider this a dealbreaker for switching over to Deezer, including me. I guess Deezer is just as bad as Spotify when it comes to listening to the community. Guess I’ll keep looking elsewhere for a good music streaming service.

Really disappointed to see this thread. I’ve been a Spotify premium subscriber for over 10 years simply because of the effort it takes to switch services. The most recent Spotify updates have been bad enough to finally get me to switch.
My main problem with the spotify update is that “My Library” has been relegated to a sidebar, rather than the full screen. This makes it essentially impossible to organise my folders of playlists, especially when there are sub folders and the like.
I was super exited to start the deezer trial, it felt like a weight was being lifted and that I was finally free from Spotify. Only to find, after importing my 900+ playlists (not including playlists from other people that I follow) that there’s no way to organise them!!
Since other people in this thread mentioned mods claiming that people weren’t communicating clearly, here’s what I want:
Let’s say I have 100 playlists.
I want to be able to make a folder, for example: “Rock Playlist Folder,” “Pop Playlist Folder,” etc. I move 50 playlists into “Pop Playlist Folder,” and 49 into “Rock Playlist Folder.” One playlist is left over.
Then on my main Playlists screen (since Deezer seems to be missing a ‘my library’ page too...) I don’t see an overwhelming list of 100 playlists. I see one playlist, and two folders. When I click on “Pop Playlist Folder,” then that shows the 50 playlists inside.
TL;DR Probably won’t even bother continuing my free trial. Really, really disappointed because like many people, I desperately want to jump ship from Spotify. But this lack of basic organisational options means that deezer just isn’t a viable alternative for me.

I’ve upvoted this for the sake of having some kind of organisation, but I think playlist tagging would be preferable to folders. I’ve made a case for this in case anyone is interested.

Exploring your app after leaving Spotify and bummed to see playlist folders isn’t an option on Deezer. I have so many playlists that grouping them really helps reduce the chaos. It helps find stuff quicker while driving as well.
Seems like a simple thing to implement and I think it could really benefit users. It took me a while to realize Spotify had the feature so I had workarounds, but when I discovered it, it was a game-changer.
Hope you listen to your users more than Spotify has because that was a main reason I left their platform: “innovation” on useless features and ignoring the simplest improvements that users were actually asking for on a daily basis. This is an opportunity for Deezer to stand out above the competition.
Folders for playlists!
