Remote control music on another device / Device discovery

I came from Spotify that already has this feature for a long time, and I miss it.

I like to control the music of the pc using my cell phone, and it would be great if Deezer had this option.

thanks.

Sorry to hear you won't be staying with us after your trial @Boni but we understand your feedback for sure, this will be passed on :v_tone2:

This feature would be great. I’m waiting for it, too.

Hi! Just signed up for trial and I really appreciate HiFi sound quality, usability and the vast library, but the lack of remote is really a letdown - for some reason I assumed it will just be there.

Adding my vote for this feature - I do like Deezer and still might continue with subscription, but I have to evaluate other services too.  Going to computer every time I want to change the music shouldn’t be a requirement in the 21st century. Otherwise great service!

Thanks a lot for the feedback @Nagard I can get why you'd make that assumption. Let's see what we can do this year, we'll keep you posted :v_tone2:

As another potential transfer from Spotify (TEN years of subscription), I’d like to add my voice to this chorus.
My use case is slightly different I think, but in Spotify it uses the same ‘Connect’ functionality.
I have a work laptop which does not connect to my hi-fi. However, in Spotify I can use it to drive my phone, TV, or another PC desktop app which is connected to the hi-fi.

Like others here have said - the sound quality of Deezer is excellent (and I’d probably pay the hi-fi upgrade), so this is another £15 a month you’re missing out on.

To summarise: Any Deezer-enabled device or application should be able to control the output of any other Deezer-enabled app or device on the same account.

Thanks for the feedback @Hockney, nicely detailed. It's good because this is one of our community top ideas. We'll be discussing this higher up very very soon :v_tone2:

could have the option to control / transmit the music from the cell phone to the deezer of other platforms, as well as on Spotify and YouTube Music

That's a great idea, @Gabriel.Eugenio.Dvoranen please vote above and also check out Leila's article here

With Spotify connect I could use my phone to control the music playing on my PC from anywhere. I’d like that functionality to be included in Deezer.

My sound system is installed throughout my house and it is unpleasant to have to walk to my PC to change the song, pause the music, change playlists, etc. This shouldn’t be too difficult to implement with, for instance, WebSockets or a zeroconf protocol for local networks or even peer-to-peer (for local networks again; so when using the same LAN.).

This functionality would be huge for me. The lyrics feature is definitely what moved me over from Spotify (I don’t like using Musixmatch as a separate app.) but I’m hoping a “Deezer Connect” would make my transition final. (i.e. the missing ‘connect’ feature isn’t bugging me yet since I haven’t listened to a lot of music the past few days.)

Cheers!

Hello @Stingraynl, I kinda agree, I’m using a Sonos speaker right now as I write  Thank you for your feedback!

Any updates?

Any updates?

we do have an update :)

"We understand and we hear your request perfectly. This project is on hold, and is more complex than it seems. It requires a certain number of our teams, a lot of time, and the main focus. Deezer doesn’t have the same development power and resources than its competitors, we need to prioritize and make choices. We had indeed technical challenges, which represent a huge work. We can mention the need to refactorize our player and new API and SDK systems… We also have other constraints to take into account: service requirements, legal aspects…We worked on it, we found out that it’s a huge project with pre-requisites needed, so we choose to focus on other topics, like Chromecast. The market has evolved, with the frequent integration of AirPlay and Chromecast on many devices. The Chromecast topic impacted a lot of users so we spent a lot of time on it and worked on a new integration with the new protocol from Google. We think about facilitating device discovery from the mobile app. We also think about protocols like DLNA and UPNP, which are a bit more discrete, but our audiophiles partners are starting to ask for it. We don’t exclude working on ‘Deezer Connect’, as it can be part of our global “device discovery” reflection. Moreover, recent evolutions within Deezer allow us to “reopen this case”.

Would be cool to have this option especially when it comes to playing music on smart devices ex. Echo without the need of maintaining a bluetooth connection.

Hello @Specd, we all agree on this

I also would like to see this implemented soon with a Deezer remote control software on a smartphone. And also DLNA/ UPNP support would be nice.

This actually would bring me back to the Deezer hifi subscription 🙂.

Chromecast woes have appeared to of resolved, and gapless has finally come to mobile. If you pump this feature out, I’ll renew my subscription. If you don’t, I guess I’ll stick with a combo of Tidal and Spotify.

Thanks a lot @schlambo @Markus_no I guess we're getting there, right?

I'm waiting for this one too and as soon as I get an update, I'll be jumping back here!

Thanks Rudi.

I honestly prefer Deezer out of every platform, it just has a few gaps that make it sometimes less pleasant to use than other streaming services.

How about supporting the “Alexa Cast”-functionality Amazon is using in its own apps? It’s basically there version of Google Cast and available on Echo smart speakers and most devices that are Alex-compatible.

Coming from Spotify I’m quite sad to see this isn’t a feature in Deezer. While the upload-your-own-mp3s feature should keep me with Deezer for the foreseeable future, I just want to mention my usecase:

Playing videogames on my PC with music playing in the background, loading screen or something comes on and I grab my phone and choose a new song/playlist.

Thank you all for your feedback. We hear you, it’s just a matter of deciding which projects have the priority with the resources we have, you may have noticed that recently many changes were brought to our products (gapless is finally here, the Family subscription offer a new account management system and we improved the authentication process of the desktop app). Hopefully we’ll be able to answer your expectations soon enough, the motivation is really here

There are a number of factors that have kept me loyal to Deezer over the past few years. I recently migrated from a family account to a Hi-Fi account.

I have used several other streaming services:

1.Rdio. The best ever. Deep social interaction (I have friends on Deezer that I met on Rdio); remote control; amazing curation; album liner notes; download to the mobile controlled by the computer; displayed the number of times we heard a track; and option to add a tag with the musical genre to the album, which made it easier to search for an album in your library. Anyway, it was perfect, but unfortunately, it was annihilated by Pandora.

2. Google Play Music. A good interface but both the mobile and desktop applications were very slow and full of problems.

3.Apple Music. A good curation. An efficient algorithm to suggest new releases according to our profile. However, mobile application has a too unfriendly interface and the worst sound quality of world. A shame.

4. Amazon Music HD. No comments. A disaster.

5. Spotify. Some good features as social interaction, built-in equalizer but it has no Hi-Fi quality. It is not my favourite interface but apps are fast and efficient. In the end, the service loses points for not delivering a high-level sound.

 6. Tidal. I'm finishing the test month this week. Tidal offers a great app for mobile and desktop. Fast in both environments. Clean and friendly interface. It has interaction with Plex. However, in my point of view, Tidal loses to Deezer in two aspects: it does not have a built-in equalizer; and offers no social interaction. However, I consider it a strong competitor if they implement a built-in equalizer. It makes a huge difference in sound quality.

Undoubtedly, for me, Deezer remains the best streaming service today: it has a great interface; it has, although restricted, some social interaction; allows you to configure the covers of the playlists; it has a built-in equalizer; and delivers excellent sound quality. I could take care of some aspects: improve the algorithm to suggest new releases (it's a horror); improve the desktop application, which continues to present a series of chronic problems; the mobile app often takes time to load music; the interaction with CarPlay is very unfriendly and puts the user at risk when driving; and ... does not have remote control functionality.

I understand the technical, economic and legal limitations for implementing a remote control for Deezer. However, I believe that, after the availability of a Hi-Fi plan, it is time to look more closely at this point. The Hi-Fi subscriber usually uses cable connections to get the best performance from the sound system. Hence, the remote control is essential for a better user experience.

You have done a great job and I hope you will surprise us soon with good news about the remote control.

That's all, folks.

I really really appreciate your feedback @LFM you're aware of our limitations but also our strongest points. Can you imagine how much more we could achieve having the resources of some of the players you mentioned above? People have no idea of how much Deezer puts its effort in, comparing to others in the market. This is why our community is filled with passionate people, from me to you, who want the best music experience possible, in a unique way.

I'll be letting everyone here see your comments. Rest assured, this feature and our favourites' limit are the biggest projects that we want to tackle. As other features that have been planned and other fixes get done, we move closer to achieve bigger things, like this, for instance. But we still need the support from individuals like you, who understand the process and put faith in us delivering the best streaming service around :v_tone2:

Please inform me when remote control is created. I’ll sign up immediately. All my playlists are on deezer, and the user interface is way better than Spotify, but having installed Alexa in most of my house, deezer only allows me to listen to my flow. Alexa does not understand anything else. I’m now signed up to Spotify to be able to choose what I listen to, but I desperately want to move back to deezer. Remote control function is essential in this modern world. Thanks

I agree with you @paulryan thank you for your feedback.

I've also got an Echo at home. I've been using Deezer's track mix, I personally just miss the ability to play personal playlists. For more info on this, please see here :v_tone2:

Hey @Cloink thank you for your support, please vote for the idea above
