Is Deezer app optimised for macOS on M1 (silicon) chip? Has relatively high CPU usage.

That’s great to know something might be happening with this @Leonídia.Deezer As we’ve had Apple Watch & HomePod  previously added, and AppleTV this week, the desktop client is the one missing thing now….

I figured I’d chime in and mention, that, while we do need a Apple Silicon optimized version regardless, you can always install the web version as a PWA to get a desktop like experience. It’s technically more secure to do it that way anyway and operates very similar to a desktop app, and can play full HiFi.

In Chrome this is done via Save and Share > Create Shortcut and then mark it to open as it’s own window (it may do this by default now, don’t recall).

Safari can also do it: https://support.apple.com/en-us/104996

Again, not the perfect solution and not trying to discredit anyone’s frustration over the issue, just that there is a sort of workaround that is a pretty good experience.

Hi @planedrop, thank you for your valuable tips and detailed advice.

I'm sure our users will appreciate the workaround you suggested.

I just subscribed back and now I have a Mac is very disappointing that is not apple silicon ready being released 4 years ago, I’m regretting my purchase, my Mac constantly says there is an app draining the battery and you guested is Deezer.

I’d recommend “installing” Deezer as a website, what browser are you using?

Doing this will still get you essentially the full featured Deezer app but without battery drain.

That’s what I’m currently doing, but still, 4 years later to the party seems not good, Spotify is really good on apple silicon I wonder why Deezer is so behind.

Hello there,

I'm re-launching this topic: is Deezer still working on an ARM (for Apple Silicon) version of its desktop application?
ElectronJS has supported arm64 for years now. I don't understand what's stopping developers from releasing the arm64 version now, even though Spotify already has.

Perhaps you're developing a native Deezer application to improve performance?

Given that it’s probably not even possible to buy an x86 based Mac anymore, that this issue still exists is a de-facto demonstration of where on priority list this app is and how well the team is equipped.  IOW -- extremely low and very poorly 😢

Don’t dream about it, it’s not the same as replace app icon with a new one 😁

I have a Mac M1, have the same issue. I use to the web player instead.

Any update on a native app for MacOS (M2 chip here) to replace the -CPU eater- Electron app?

@Piou no update or ETA for a native app for MacOs
Thanks

It's mind-boggling: an Electron application that ignores the community's request for years to simply recompile for a different processor target, given how much time has passed - this reveals the priorities in the minds of the company's product managers, when application redesign is more important than basic functionality. Seriously, that is only one reason not to use the app.

For anyone else who’s given up waiting, Tidal’s Mac app has been Apple Silicon native forever.

Tidal have listened and no longer force their proprietary lossy MQA format on listeners, instead offering CD quality FLAC as part of their standard subscription for about the same cost as Deezer (they even have some High Resolution tracks but that’s not proven to have any audible benefit).

What is a real benefit is Tidal Connect, which lets you easily stream your music in original quality to streamers like Wiim from both MacOS and iOS without enduring lossy AirPlay.

At this point, there is not a single reason to stay with Deezer so I’m jumping to Tidal when my annual plan ends in a few weeks.

If you want to effect change at Deezer, I suggest you vote with your wallets and follow suit.

That’s plain ignorance in modern “agile” development teams. I go with you brother, Tidal it is.

Hello @petertorok @iamironzz, I understand your disappointed, and Deezer truly appreciate your feedback.

I understand your concerns about the Deezer app on macOS, regarding its optimization for the M chips.

While it’s taking time, we are genuinely making progress on updating the desktop app technically, which will solve many issues.

At this point we can’t yet say when those improvements will be launched but when big news arrive we will share the good news in the Community.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

It's 2025 and Deezer devs continue to ignore Apple Silicon users

Hi @felipebruni! Great news!

Our developers have confirmed that Apple Silicon is now supported in the latest release, version 7.0.1.

Great news. Is it for Mac’s M CPUs only, or Windows on ARM is supported as well?

Amazing news. for those who need to update for mac you must remove version 6 and re-install it from the deezer app page.

Probably the next ask will be to make the app available in the App Store. I don’t like installing apps from websites, not to say that they are unsandboxed, which creates security concerns.
