Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Bugs/Issues/Workarounds

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

Hi there,

Quick (friendly) rant about classical music

Quite often songs have these huge names (name of the piece, name of the section, movement description, opus number, key, even lyrics (!) etc.)
The current way it is displayed makes it quite a pain to navigate and find the song you want because the useful information (like the movement) appears at the very end of the name, unless:

  • you play it and wait for an eternity for the title name to scroll and finally show the useful information (iOS / android)
  • you extend the window (Windows) to a ridiculous size (doesn’t help for the titles shown in the library though)

Example

(Not even mentioning the crazy amount of redundant information in the titles shown here, that doesn’t help readability at all)

It would be amazing if you could find a better way to display the titles and/or “format” the titles to a standard that avoids bazillion duplicate information

I agree with Qubi. Classical music needs some work on Deezer meta data.

I just want search on a “Composer,” e.g Beethoven, or heck John Lennon! And see what music they created.

Who composed it eg Beethoven or Lennon is far more interesting than who played on it or conducted it or what symphony played it or covered it. With Deezer, presently, we can’t even see the “Composer” meta data.

I couldn’t agree more.

Also, talking about composers: PLEASE clean up all the duplicates: ‘Rachmaninoff’, ‘Rachmaninov’, ‘Rachmaninow’, … They’re all the same person. Same for ‘Tchaikovsky’, ‘Tschaikowsky’, ‘Dvorak’, ‘Liszt’, ‘Stravinky’. WHY are there two ‘Nikolai Lugansky’ and both referring to the same person but not the same albums? This is sick.

It’s 2025.
We have sent people to the Moon
How come we’re still so unable to handle foreign names and duplicates in a database?

I’m on the Deezer “desktop app” version 7.0.10 on macos.

Previously, I could pause a song, to briefly listen to audio from a youtube video or video in a text message for example, then unpause and the song would pick up where I left off.

Now the song restarts from the beginning. This appears to be new behavior? Why the change?

It would make sense if I paused for a long time, but typically I’m talking about 5 minutes or less before I come back to the song.

BTW, this workflow works just fine on the ios app - would be great if the desktop app matched.

Hey Deezer Team: Please disregard my gripes above.

I realized I was on an old version of the desktop app and had never been prompted to upgrade.

I deleted it, installed the latest dmg from the deezer.com (7.0.50), launched the app,  was prompted to restart the app for an upgrade and now on 7.0.190 pause/restart behaves like it should!

Thank you!

The problem with stuttering, buffering and songs sometimes not playing for seconds/minutes persists. I’m on desktop app version 7.1.10 and it’s sometimes so frustrating I just go back to listen to music on Youtube. You guys really need to work this out.

Hello, I am having an extremely bizarre issue.

I use an M1 Macbook Air, Sequoia 15.6.1, and have a recurring issue in which my Wi-fi on my laptop constantly disconnects only while Deezer is open either as a desktop app or in my browser.

Is there any way to know why in the world this is happening or how to fix it? I started using Deezer as a free-trial just recently, but this issue affects my entire computer and is really turning me off from using it.

I downloaded the Deezer 7.1.20-universal application but when trying to open it on my mac running macOS 26.2 it just bounces in the tray and crashes.

I’ve deleted and redownloaded it a couple times and accepted the “open non apple software” every time.

I’ve no clue how to even begin trouble shooting this thing. Console Log shows only error for Deezer is

“Internal inconsistency in menus - menu <private> believes it has <private> as a supermenu, but the supermenu does not seem to have any item with that submenu”

Only way I can get it to start is by running it as sudo.
