Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Bugs/Issues/Workarounds

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

It was from the official download link.

I figured out the issue. The .config folder in my home drive changed owners for some reason. I chown’ed it back to my user and the app started worked fine.

I’m unsure if that permissions change was because of deezer or something else. Haven’t seen that before and it hasn’t been an issue before now.

Hello, I’m using Deezer 7.1.20 on an M1 Mac on macOS Sonoma 14.5 and have found that pressing the back button (either in the app or on my keyboard) doesn’t restart the current song, instead it always goes back to the previous song. This happens on the web app as well. Is this a bug, or is there a setting to control the behavior of the back button?

Starting one or two weeks ago the deezer webplayer (FF 139+ for linux) shows a 404 page after I login.

Steps:

navigate to www.deezer.com

login

Click through captchas

select Family member

Land at 404

Removing all additional website info at that point and manually reverting the webaddress to www.deezer.com allows me to finally navigate to my actuall Deezer account and play music

Issue is resolved since a while now, thanks!

In the macOS app, when the lyrics tab is open, the “X” button that hides lyrics doesn’t work.

The desktop app semi-regularly logs out and asks for a (re)login… Also if the app is left open before a long time (hibernation over night for instance), the app always ends up with an error -- as if it cannot reinitialize the session or something.

I understand that Deezer does not have unlimited engineering resources but i. managing to keep the user logged in and ii. in general, managing to keep track of the app state are non-negotiable.

Deezer Desktop Win 11 pro. version 7.1.60 randomly crashes force closes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the official executable. removed any folder from users\appdata\local where for some reason the application is installed. It is also a x86 app as well(why is this NOT a x64 app). I looked for reg setting found a few and and deleted, but to no avail. i9 14K 32GB ram everything up to date 600MB symmetrical connection. The crashes are random and can happen at random intervals. usually happens when searching but not all the time. Just started happening yesterday. I am currently using Process monitor to see what pops up, but that is like a needle in a haystack since I am not sure what is even causing this issue to begin with. I did do a restart as well and it helped reduce the crashing but not eliminate it.

I’m using Deezer Desktop 7.1.60 on Windows 11, why is the app literally just Electron wrapping the web version for several years now? It has literally no meaningful features besides “Send song changes AS NOTIFICATIONS”, wow great awesome (sarcasm!).

If you guys want to have proper Desktop support let me know, else just don’t offer it all to be honest. Your competition does it way better.

High CPU usage in Deezer Web Player caused by animated SVG “playing” icons (Linux Mint + Brave)

Hi Deezer team/community,
I’m seeing very high CPU usage in the Deezer Web Player that seems to be caused by the animated “currently playing” icons (SVG).

Environment
Linux Mint (Cinnamon 6.6.7, X11), CPU/GPU: Intel i3-8100T, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Browser: Brave 1.87.188 (hardware acceleration **ON**)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Deezer Web Player
  2. Go to Explore → Your Mix (or similar) and open a playlist
  3. When the animated “playing” icon is visible (and in the playlist view where multiple animated icons appear), CPU usage jumps significantly (20–40% on my system).
  4. If I minimize the browser window, CPU usage drops sharply while music continues playing.

What I found

  • In Chrome/Brave Task Manager, the Deezer tab stays very high (up to ~40% CPU), and the system load is noticeably higher.
  • In the Brave browser DevTools Performance Monitor, CPU usage rises as soon as the animated icon(s) are on the page (not even need to be visible).
  • If I use DevTools to remove the animated SVG elements from the DOM, CPU usage immediately drops (to ~8% here). This strongly suggests the SVG animation is being rendered at a high frame rate / inefficiently (possibly continuing even when off-screen).
    XPATH: /html/body/div[1]/div/div[6]/div/div[1]/div/div[2]/div[1]/div[1]/button/svg
    Selector: #page_naboo_smarttracklist > div.catalog-content > div > div.css-m38am7 > div.chakra-button__group.css-1v1zob6 > div:nth-child(1) > button > svg

Expected
Audio playback should not require sustained high CPU; animated UI indicators should be lightweight.

Happy to provide screenshots or additional details if needed. Thanks!

It’s not playing music. No matter how much I click Play, nothing happens. I’ve already reinstalled it and repaired Windows, but nothing worked. The problem is clearly with the app itself. Please fix it!
