Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Bugs/Issues/Workarounds

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

Deezer Windows Desktop bug:

Hi! I’m having a UI bug in the desktop app where when I click and view the lyrics on a song the X in the top left doesn’t close the lyrics as it used to. I’ve had this on both 1080p and 4K displays on multiple machines. My workaround is closing the window and reopening it, although this isn’t ideal.

Thanks!

Hi I have bug in Windows desktop version. I can’t leave lyrics mode. The close button doesn’t work.

@henrytj & @jirikovoego

I already reported the bug on version 5.30.280. This was recognized as a bug, the developers are already working on it according to information from support. The lyrics window can be closed by clicking on the microphone icon at the bottom.

Only the Windows version of the desktop app is affected up to and including the latest version 5.30.310.

2 major issues that make navigating the desktop app painful:

  • To go one page back with mouse, I have to click the Back button which is located in the top left corner and is tiny.
  • When I do go back, the app loads the previous page from scratch, losing the scrolling position. This one is especially nasty.

Every page also take pretty long to load (2-5 seconds). I understand that this is caused by the app being a packaged web page (sigh) but maybe something can be done to reduce this time.

Oh yeah, one more thing. It would be great if the app remembered my preferred view setting. It always reverts to Grid.

When I try to go to an album that’s “not available in my country”, the app gets stuck in an error state:

On HP laptop with Win 10 Enterprise, Deezer 5.30.320 crashes/quits when I am moving the Deezer app window with the mouse.

Not just minimises, it diappears from Task Manager.

It happened several times.

Actions taken: restarted computer, checked and no pending Deezer app or Windows updates.

When using Google Assistant to request a song, a live (and lower quality) version of the song is often played, no matter how I phrase it. However, if I type it in, the album version is always the first option.

@Mitch C. as I mentioned in another thread, could you please provide examples in order to investigate?
Thanks :)

Hello! I looked through a bunch of posts and did not see this issue listed; sorry if this is a repeat:

On Windows 10 pro build10.0.19044 , Deezer 5.30.350, the application reliably stops responding to keyboard input. This happens every time the system sleeps the monitor, or I switch to another application, then back to Deezer. Pressing Alt+Tab will also kill the keyboard input, even if Deezer is the only app running. I use multiple desktops and keep Deezer on desktop #2, if that info is helpful.

Two work-arounds I’ve found are to restart Deezer, or click the mouse anywhere in the track list, or left panel.

I would love if I could skip tracks or pause playback without needing the monitor to wake up and make sure the mouse is in the Deezer window, but not hovering over a track or control.

Thanks!
