How do i 'add to queue' or 'play next'?

What about on the app without casting? E.g. I'm listening to an album,  and I want to interject it with an unrelated song from a completely different artist.

Context: I use this feature a lot. Sometimes for songs but more often to queue some podcast episodes to my bike ride. Right now it looks like i have to play one podcast episode, and when it is over the playback stops, I have to stop my bike and go find and play a different episode or resume music. 

I am on android  6.2.30.88.

Hi @Jaime. I don't think casting affects this (or rather I assume casting has the same problem because when I cast, the Chromecast just does what the app tells it to do).

Here's what I just did: I was listening to a song and Deezer built a playlist off it. As I was scrolling down I say Kyoto by Phoebe Bridgers and though "I like that, haven't heard it in a while, I'd like to listen to that next" - I can't do that. When I tap it, it starts playing immediately. 

As it was playing I hit the "play song mix" feature, and it stopped Kyoto and started playing a related song -- it's not hard to imagine that I wanted to listen to the rest of that song -- it's kinda implicit in why I chose to play the song mix. 

So while the first related song was playing I went back to "my top June" and found a song to listen to, but all I can do it play it now -- whereas what I want is 'play next'.

I've seen an 'add to queue' menu item appear -- I've not worked out under what conditions it shows up, but surely it should always be there?! You know what it does? It adds it to then end of the queue; a queue of semi-random songs that Deezer generated for me - I'm not saying that's not a great feature, but I can't add the song I just picked onto the top of the queue. 

Honestly, I can't quite work out what the Product Managers are thinking, cos none of this UX makes any sense at all. You've done the hard work getting the licensing, building the app, and the market; but (sorry) the UX sucks!

How do users give feedback to Deezer?

One man's feature is another man's bug.

I would ask "why would you want to prevent queue management in certain scenarios?"

This must be "we deprioritized building this feature", rather than "we reviewed the request and decided it should not be included".

I've searched the community and see that queue management features have been on the roadmap for 3 years without any progress. This is a deal breaker for me. Maybe I'll revisit when there's better UX in the future.

Well that’s disappointing. I legit thought this was a bug or something.

Any plans for a proper fix?

The actual situation

When I want to hear a specific song, I can’t queue it, so I have to press play, which stops flow. After hearing the song, I have to go back to Deezer and restart flow. 

What I want….

As a user, I want to put flow on in the morning and occasionally add a few songs to the queue, and have flow continue automatically afterwards, so I can go about my day enjoying music.

Hell. Just searching through this forum, you can find this exact issue going back years, with Deezer calling it “intended behaviour”.

I really hope they add this feature ASAP! It was one of the best features of the UX on Spotify and I’ve recently migrated over from that service. I HATE to support Spotify, but if the queue isn’t added to Deezer in the next 3 months I’ll have to go back to Spotify. I feel like I’ve gone back to 2013 for crying out loud… 

Agreed looking to switch from Spotify and a lack of a add to queue feature is a sticking point to get the missus onboard.

They are hot mess and can't handle their own code, it's not “by design” :’D

I’ve been evaluating Deezer and competitors as a possible Spotify replacement as well, and just wanted to chime in with the feedback that the inability to “Play Next” during flow and mixes is the main reason that Deezer is going to lose out to other options in my case. Being able to “take requests” and select the next song during an extended listening session at home is a really valuable feature that, for instance, both Spotify and Tidal have. Tough to give that up.

This is such stupid design. Stop trying to predict what users wants to hear but give them control at any time. Flow is great but allow users to add/edit without stopping the experience.

Tell your product manager it’s not a bad thing to get inspiration for features from Spotify and Tidal. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel.

Hey @Jaime. , I agree with what have been said here. 
While using Deezer on desktop app, if I search for a specific song and play it, it automatically set the “mix” mode on, therefore I can’t search for another song to add it to the queue. 
This is very annoying when using Deezer with friends that want to add their favorite songs to the queue. 
I can’t disable the mix mode auto setting up when searching a song.

“Add to queue”  works for me, but not when I’m casting to Chromecast!  It’s still annoying because I can’t use it to play music for friends which is the only time I would want to queue.

New Deezer user here.

I use the it in Android and iPad.
In iPad it always  allows me to add songs to the queue, by the “Play next” and “Add to queue” context menus.
For the exact same queue in Android, these “Play next” and “Add to queue” do not exist.

What’s the reasoning behind this decision?
What are the benefits of limiting the user possibilities, once you already have that feature developed and working?

I usually like to discover new artists by using Flow or listening to playlists.
While listening, if I like some artist, I check their discography and I like to include other songs or a full album to the queue.
This makes the finding of new artists or albums an enriched and pleasant experience, because you are not limited exclusively to the suggestions, you include your own preferences in between.  

Currently, while using Android, I avoid Flow.
And I don’t play directly playlists because I’m afraid it will block these features.
What I do is adding the songs of the playlists to the queue instead.

But if I listen to that same queue in iPad, when I’m back in Android, the “Play next” and “Add to queue” get lost again.
I have to confess it’s getting a bit annoying and even frustrating…

By the way, I found in this forum and in reddit multiple complains related to this topic.
Is this normal? Or it’s a sign that Deezer do not really care about the users feedback? 

So I noticed an earlier post where Deezer support said  queue and play next was not developed YET for casting.  Can Deezer say when this will be done?

I’m currently on the free trial as I thought I’d give deezer e try.

But, it’s sh** like this and other annoyances that should be part of basic functionality that will influence my decision to not extend my subscription!

Spotify hifi tier on the way that will end up removing one of the few selling points Deezer has.

I switched to Deezer because of the audiobook app (which is really awesome) but to not properly queue songs for friends is a nightmare.. 

so might be back to Spotify and their shitty audiobook handling 😩

Unfortunately, in my experience, “soon” from Deezer means “never”.

Looking into other services as replacement. I would love feedback on experience with others, especially that work well with Alexa and do not have boycotting artists like Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, India Arie, Nils Lofgren, CSN, etc. (i.e. not spotify).
