I have a couple of Onkyo devices with built-in Chromecast functionality. However, this is not working with Deezer. When I try to play on the Onkyo via Chromecast, Deezer states "loading" and never finishes, or only plays very short sequences (few seconds) of audio before loading again.

Bug appears for both beta and normal version of Deezer since a few month.

Please fix. This is working for me with Spotify, Google Play Music and many other music player apps.

Thank you for your honest feedback @place4code. I'll be passing it on to the relevant teams here. Our new cast integration has been taking some time to be completed, but we're on it. We hope to get more updates from our teams in the next couple of months. We'll keep the community informed :thumbsup_tone2:

Chromecast not working at all with Onkyo TX-RZ830. Tried from different phones,  tablets..no succes.

Tidal worked well.

Thanks for letting us know @Krzysztof Król what version of our app do you have installed?

Hi, I think the latest on my Android phone (Galaxy Fold)  6.1.23.93 an the Android tablet: (Galaxy Tab S2) 6.1.23.93

Hmm, that's quite odd, you have the latest version @Krzysztof Król did it work on it before? Your Onkyo should be compatible, have you tried reinstalling the app and restarting your router?

Have you also checked if the Onkyo has any firmware updates available? I know you mentioned the other service works well, but we've got a new integration. Let me know!

The functionality of using the Deezer android app and then passing music to the amplifier via chromecast is quite important to me. The native Onkyo Deezer client is very limited and do not give proper music selection expierience. Therefore I check every now and then  if there is any update to the Onlyo firmware. It is the lates one available. Last update Ihas been made in January. My android devices have automatic updates so there is no qestion here.

Lately, I switched again to Deezer from Tidal. And Deezer chromecas do not work at all, it wants me to wait forever to connect. With Tidal it took some 30 seconds to connect but later, everything worked well. With my previous Deezer subscription (approx. a year ago) I managed to connect, but all this was very unstable. Now, chromecast connection is not possible at all.

If you need any more infos, I will be glad to help.

Thanks,

That's pretty odd @Krzysztof Król. When you used the former (old) integration, was it possible to cast to the Onkyo?

The new integration was developed to provide the stability you were referring to. Is it that the Onkyo isn't recognised?

Hi,

I had an idea.. to check another devices that are involved in the communication. I found out that there is the firmware update available to the Ausu router RT-AC87U. It Itlped. I can connect now. It takes a while, the connection is not always stable but it generally works.

It seems that in order to make chromecast to work correctly, one needs a very good internet (WAN) connection. Mine is  a T-Mobile LTE Huawei router/modem that usually gives 5-10Mb/s.

It takes some 1-2 minutes to connect, but seems to work. ok.

Last question: after connection via chromecast, the HIFI mark disapears form the deezer app (Album cover).. Does it mean that the sound quality is not HIFi when transmitted to the amplifier ?. In the app, the sound quaility over chtomecast is set to High Fidelity, of course.

Hi @Krzysztof Król we’re very glad to hear you found a workaround

Did you make sure that your ONKYO device does have a Chromecast built-in which works fine with the current software updates? Yes, normally a strong Wifi connection is needed for Chromecast to work without interruptions.

We are sorry that the Hifi symbol currently disappears when there is an active Chromecast connection. However, we can assure you that the songs are played in FLAC sound quality as High Fidelity is selected in audio settings and it is not an old recording (one which is not available in FLAC sound quality in the mobile app either)

Hi, I have a same problem with my Onkyo TX-L50 receiver

When I try to play on the Onkyo via Chromecast, Deezer states "loading" and never finishes, or somtimes plays very short sequences (few seconds) of audio before loading again. Deezer Premium account, HQ Stream option, internet 25 Mbps.

Hey @sascha1978

Thank you for reporting. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

I'd recommend restarting your internet router and also looking for firmware updates on your Onkyo :thumbsup_tone2:

@Rudi Thank you for the answer. I restarted the internet router several times before and always update the firmware. Unfortunately there is a problem with other applications as well. The chromecast built-in never worked properly. And not only do I have a problem with it as I read the forums.

I need to buy a new router anyway, I'll see if it helps. Until then use the built-in Deezer App in receiver or Deezer App in DTS Play-fi.

Thanks for coming back and sharing your experience and kit with us @sascha1978 love this kind of feedback because it gives a great insight on what's going on.

Our public API will be improved soon, we're working on it too :v_tone2:

i just signed up for the hifi account and trying to stream from pc to my Onkyo TX-NR797 AVR. it won't connect to the built in Deezer App and it won't connect to the built in Chromecast app. . i have been running Spotify that connects both ways perfectly. if i can’t stream from my pc it’s no good for me. i can play directly in the AVR to Deezer but the UI Horrible..Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there @GennaroT

Thank you for getting in touch and sharing your experience. Apologies you couldn't connect.

Have you tried restarting your router and the devices to see if it connects? What kind of error message are you getting?

We're improving our public integrations so that developers from Onkyo, for example, can improve their built-in experience of Deezer. But please bear in mind that's their app, our developers are unable to look into that themselves. So please feel free to reach out to Onkyo as well, while I pass your comments here on our side :thumbsup_tone2:

I recently tried this again, but still streaming to my Onkyo devices via Chromecast does not work. I updated the firmware, restarted all systems incl. internet router, still no success.

This is really a deal breaker for me, although I like deezer otherwise.

Sorry we're unable to provide a better casting experience to your Onkyo at the moment @jaywalker - I'll be passing your feedback to our teams and in the meantime, please vote for this idea here - I'm trying to push for it too :pray_tone2:

voted - thanks for the hint, this would indeed help.

It's odd that this thread is 2 years old and it's still not working. So time to cancel the subscription then. Chromecast won't work on Onkyo, pioneer and not on JBL.

Hi,

I wander, if this problem lasts for years ( I have same situation with my Onkyo TX-NR676E, no conection and I just purcheased 1 year Deezer subscription). why don't you do something with it? You loosing subscribers! Spotify works well on Onkyo and many more devices, because Spotify do not use google cast! Spotify app works like a remote controler for the service. Make similar app and everyone be happy. Evolution is needed.
