Something

The Beatles

😊

Amazingly, “Something” is the only song written and sung by George Harrison to be released as a Beatles single (it reached No. 1). It became, along with “Yesterday,” the band’s most covered song (Frank Sinatra credited the song to Lennon and McCartney when he sang it on stage). It’s also Harrison’s finest composition, a love song with a killer bridge and a subtly soulful guitar line.

Get Up And Go

Milow

😊

Just as Milow's previous album, 2022's Nice to Meet You, was a response to the Covid pandemic, Boy Made Out of Stars is, in his words, "a love letter to Los Angeles, its beauty and the strength that keeps us going." The album represents the latest chapter in their musical journey, its title evoking childlike wonder, with stars symbolizing creativity and hope. “It touches on psychedelic exploration and cosmic transformation,” Milow explains. "It's about modern boyhood, challenging traditional ideas of masculinity, embracing vulnerability and celebrating the fluid and evolving nature of identity."

Happy Ever After You

MacKenzie Porter, Jake Etheridge, Thelma & James

😊

In December 2024, MacKenzie Porter and her husband, Jake Etheridge, teased an intricate and moving new song, 'Happy Ever After You', with Porter commenting, "I met my husband through songwriting, but we hadn't written a song together in over 10 years... until now."

The yearning, bittersweet offering finds Porter and Etheridge stepping into the shoes of two former lovers who have long since parted ways, but who still haven't managed to relinquish the hold they have on each other. It's beautifully stripped back and intimate, and the track's stripped-down, acoustic feel, coupled with its heartbreaking lyrics, led to plenty of fellow artists getting excited about the initial teaser for 'Happy Ever After You'.

Luke Combs, for one, commented, “Yo. This is really damn good,” while Jordan Davis echoed Combs’ sentiments, sharing, “Well damn y’all… This is beautiful.” Ella Langley, RaeLynn, ERNEST, Ashley Cooke, and several others also rushed to the comments section of this ‘Happy Ever After You’ demo to beg for an official release.

Endearingly, it seems like MacKenzie Porter and Jake Etheridge had no idea that 'Happy Ever After You' would blow up the way it has in recent weeks. The full studio version of 'Happy Ever After You' was officially released on January 10, 2025, with Porter and Etheridge using the single as the springboard for their new project, 'Thelma & James.'

Into The Mystery

Needtotbreathe

The band continues to demonstrate their mastery of sound, ambiance and silence by layering Into the Mystery with a full sonic palette. Even though the album was recorded in an old house in rural Tennessee, the music doesn't sound limited in its scope. It's big when it needs to be, and dialed in, but still full of texture when needed.

What We Ain't Got

Home Free

😊

It is an American 5-member male a cappella group. As all members are white, country music is the main concept.

Since first forming in 2000, the degree of completion is high and the unity between the members is so good that there is no sense of incongruity despite frequent member replacements. All of the current members have experience studying music professionally, but in fact Home Free is said to be a group that started as a hobby.

He became famous after winning season 4 of The Sing-Off.

With You (with Sofia Camara)

Dean Lewis

😊

Dean Lewis now shares a duet version of With You with Toronto-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sofia Camara, who has been supporting Dean on The Epilogue World Tour dates in the UK and Europe.

Sofia’s innate vulnerability and songwriting prowess are catching the attention of tastemakers around the world. She was nominated for Best New Talent at the Portuguese International Music Awards and selected as a VEVO DSCVR 2024 Artist and DSCVR New Music Spotlight. Camara’s growing social media following and popular covers on TikTok and YouTube are garnering attention and support from artists including Miley Cyrus, Gracie Abrams, and Justin Timberlake.

The original version of With You , released earlier this year, is the first single from the upcoming deluxe edition of The Epilogue , due for release later this year. It has already reached over 37 million streams worldwide. With You was produced by Dean Lewis alongside Tommy English (Kacey Musgraves), Colin Foote (Kygo) and Alex Borel (Ruth B.).

Taste

Sabrina Carpenter

😊

After dominating the airwaves all summer long with "Espresso" and "Please Please Please," Sabrina Carpenter is capping off the season—and quenching our thirst for slicker, brighter pop—with her just-released sixth album, Short n' Sweet.

This newly honed artistic identity is front and center on opening track and third single “Taste,” which arrived alongside a Dave Meyers-directed visual inspired by Death Becomes Her and co-starring Jenna Ortega on August 23. Co-written by Carpenter, Julia Michaels, Amy Allen, John Ryan, and Ian Kirkpatrick, the deceptively sweet tune sets the tone for the record’s often sardonic and sensual outlook.

Don’t let its title fool you: “Taste” isn’t directed at a lover, but rather at the other woman, aka his on-again, off-again girlfriend. Though the song ostensibly finds Carpenter post-breakup, it can’t help but emphasize the impact she had on her ex during a short-lived fling. “Oh, I leave quite an impression / Five feet to be exact,” its first line goes before she makes her presence known even further: “You’re wondering why half of their clothes are missing / My body is where they are.”

Better If Worse

Haffway

😊

Oklahoma-raised, Nashville-based indie singer-songwriter Sam Westhoff has been through several variations as an artist over the past few years. I first discovered Sam's music in the form of Colour, his impressive 2018 solo album that featured several captivating singles ("The Way That You Move," "Everyday," "Easy").

After a period of performing with soul/indie pop collective Lately. and working behind the scenes producing, writing and mixing music for other artists, Sam announced his new project, HAFFWAY, in early 2023. "This is it for me," Sam comments on social media. "I'm, for the first time, saying the things I have been wanting to say how I've wanted to say them. I feel like my life experience and my writing are aligning. HAFFWAY is this."

Wait On You

The Steel Wheels

😊

In the opening moments of The Steel Wheels' new album, frontman and songwriter Trent Wagler sings, "This year hit like a hurricane. The winds knocked me down." From the jump, you understand that this record represents a series of poignant realizations for the long-running Virginia-based folk band. Those lines appear in the opening track "Wait On You."

An anthemic track with arena-ready drums and smooth banjo, "Wait On You" was featured on Relix, who said, "As the sails of 'Wait On You' unfurl, they bond and harmonize over the lyric 'They're not gonna wait on you' before Wagler takes the lead with words of wisdom that move the ship forward."
