New logo: Explanations 💜

After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart 💜?
One comment cited there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts 💜.

Not sure if you guys agree with me but posts suggesting other platforms aren’t really helping.

If anything, we’re criticizing the major update because we care, we love Deezer and we believe it was the better service.

In my opinion, Deezer was superior to Spotify, Tidal, Apple music and all other streaming services; too bad the last update messed things up not to mention the obnoxious way of handling things by the management/team….

I’m sure they realized they screwed up big time, whether they’re gonna step on their ego and rollback is yet to be determined.

Keeping the pressure and constructive criticism is the only way to go.

This is certainly one of the more constructive comments in this diatribe of emotional responses, threats and bullying attitudes.

For me, I am not really happy with the recent updates. Not yet a deal breaker to leave Deezer, but honestly I do not know what kind of audience is being targeted here, perhaps more of a Spotify crowd? The appearance of the platform is not to my taste. Maybe focus groups indicated otherwise in the beta testing and development of all this. The next few months will more accurately show what the masses have to say, both in terms of lost subscribers and new. As well as subscribers that show less activity on Deezer, indicating that perhaps other platforms are being explored. I still pay for Apple Music but rarely use it as it does not truly stream lossless in my system due to the Airplay 2 issues.

What is more important for me? The ability to stream in at least CD quality. Better integration with other systems, such as KEF Connect or for that matter better functionality of Deezer Connect to control via WiFi other streaming systems. Why does Spotify or Tidal Connect work on my LS60’s, but not Deezer? How about being able to choose original rather than remastered albums and tracks. Maybe a feature that shows the amount of compression in a recording. If Deezer cannot increase playlist track limits, how about the ability to shuffle a user defined group of playlists. Just some features that might add some cred to entice serious listeners and reviewers. No streaming service is perfect, they all have pros and cons.

If one attribute that Deezer is going for is diversity, there sure seems to be a lot of divisiveness created with this latest release.

I disagree in regards to suggesting other platforms. Deezer already stated that their new direction/style will be present in future updates.

So, for those who just don't vibe with the updated experience, moving to another platform is unfortunately the only real option.

And as you say, many people are criticising this because they care, however Deezer has shown no willingness to change course.

If we want to be truly helpful, we have to stand by our words and show developers what their customer base feels, even if that means suggesting/moving to another service.

Helping to achieve what exactly? Deezer made clear, a couple of times, that they don't intend to switch the logo or design. Personally I am quite happy to know why people change to other platforms. And I'm also surprised that a certain platform gives me better recommendations. Well, they could learn a lot from the feedback we give, if they care.

Agree with the point of integration. I thought about buying an extra streamer for my sound system only for Deezer as it is not supported, but cancelled my subscription anyway now. Their recent changes do not seem to fit for the target group, us, you've mentioned. They could have just stuck with the old design and care about functionalities that have been requested for months and years.

Ok, now I’m going to make a real effort to cancel our Family Plan.

Hi, while I understand the rebranding (and am quite OK with it), it’s a bit annoying that the app (espacially the desktop one) looks like a dating app : in a work environment I find it unprofessional to have the app in the taskbar 🫤
