New logo: Explanations 💜

After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart 💜?
One comment cited there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts 💜.

My annual sub hasn't even expired yet, but this 💩 show of a rebrand and the arrogant dismissive responses from Deezer have made it far easier to stomach the additional cost of a new sub elsewhere.

The rebranding makes no sense, the only community that might go with it are young kids and that totally isn’t Deezer’s demographic nor will it ever be.

All you’ve done is alienate the vast majority of your existing user base with the strong likelihood of putting off  potential new subscribers as most aren’t going to relate to such a garish and shouty UI (and don’t get me started on the dating app heart icon).

I don’t get it, it’s so wide of the mark in terms of connecting a relationship between user and product it’s completely nuts!

Someone mentioned the new logo looks like a bat, now I can't unsee it 😅. Please, take the bat away and bring back » shuffle my music! «

How is that rebranding coming along?

I can see you are drowning in new paying subscribers….. xD

honestly, the way you treat your (ex) paying customers, you deserve so much worse..

but time will fix this, you underestimated your paying customers.

people are just sick and tired of companies telling us to just accept it or go somewhere else.

we go elsewere and the numbers reflect it.

show some BALLS and show the numbers of paying customers that left, and paying customers you gained.

I BET you don’t even dare.

Can you please explain to my wife that you are not a dating app. This has caused several problems in my household and I am currently sleeping on the sofa.

Change the logo and the notification icon for the love of relationships please. Whomever made this decision needs their head seen too.

I don’t like the heart, but if something like the icon of an app on your phone forced you to sleep on the sofa you have way bigger problems.

In case anyone wasn’t aware (like me until just now) there was a new Discovery Radio feature in Apple Music added a couple of months ago that looks interesting, it’s an endless algorithm generated playlist like Flow albeit not definable by mood or genre

Might be of interest to those in the Apple eco system if feeling alienated by the new design.

Since moving to Tidal, I've found new music that Deezer just never seemed to suggest to me.

Honestly, I think I'm now glad about this whole thing. If they hadn't given me a reason to switch, I'd still be getting served the same stuff.

Not sure if you guys agree with me but posts suggesting other platforms aren’t really helping.

If anything, we’re criticizing the major update because we care, we love Deezer and we believe it was the better service.

In my opinion, Deezer was superior to Spotify, Tidal, Apple music and all other streaming services; too bad the last update messed things up not to mention the obnoxious way of handling things by the management/team….

I’m sure they realized they screwed up big time, whether they’re gonna step on their ego and rollback is yet to be determined.

Keeping the pressure and constructive criticism is the only way to go.
