New logo: Explanations đź’ś

After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart đź’ś?
One comment cited “there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo”

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

“The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.”

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts đź’ś.

New updates are awful. I mainly used the shuffle all playlists option for my daily listening and that feature has been elimimated.

In “Live the music with Deezer 💜” post, (which is blocked for new replies, and any page after 1st takes you to “Page Not Found” page)

Now, how can I enjoy my personalized experience with my unique taste and preferences when there is no options for any of that!  (can’t change logo, color, font, font size or arrange stuff…)  come on Deezer team, stop with this nonsense. If you are so stuck up with this new redesign, then at least let me have an option to choose a different theme or make the app customizable to my liking.  So far I am very disappointed and seriously considering canceling my subscription.

The new UI is AWFUL! – it looks like a grade school child designed it for a children’s project. It’s intolerable. The old interface was sharper and more modern, please bring it back. I would be embarrassed to recommend this new version to anybody. Looks like a joke.

I switched from spotify because i didn't like it anymore and came back to deezer. It was a reliëf to come back. A month later deezer switched to the New UI. Now it is even worse than spotify. What is wrong with a simple and good UI. Just let the user decide what hé wonts.

This is really a missed chance 🤷‍♂️.

I've been a long time Deezer user and I have always found the Deezer experience superior to Spotify.

However, to me, the recent overhaul of the app is nothing short of appalling. The purple theme all over the app, the dating-app-style Deezer icon, the kinder garden style iconography and ditto font, it resonates with me in a very bad way. I feel they really took pushing all this diversity and inclusiveness stuff to the next level and a step too far. Completely uncalled for. For me it's all about the music, nothing but the music.
Add to that the fact that Spotify has vastly improved UX-wise over the past years, I really feel I have no other option but to switch back to Spotify.

Bye bye Deezer, at least for now.

I have been an user of Deezer for more than 5 years. The new logo is dump, it looks like a dating app on your phone, and being purple it suggests even more. The previous logo was perfect, as it represented music and sound quality, since Deezer was among the first to introduse loseless quality.

The new app UI is also completely out of any general guidelines for making a good design. Crowded, with unsuitable fonts, while combinind unrelated fonts. The desktop version of the app for MacBook is even worse. Sometime empty space in an app is there for a reason, to visually froup elements by logic and put accents on a few things that matter the most in the current app mode/page. You have put accent on everything and it is hard to concentrate the eyes on the things that matter. Who has done this has absolutely no experience and clue with what a good app should deliver as an user experience. Who chose this font for album titles? It looks like the old Comic Sans when the first PC appeared and people were experimenting with it.

Loved you service, took the high-fidelity package long time ago. Now it is a mess done for the sake of doing something new, not for offering a better experience.

Mac users have noticed it: you can’t drag the app unless you clic between the search (that has no visible borders) and the user icon

So I took sometimes to notify deezer of the issue… and the response was “Application design changes are not possible.” and a bunch of completely unrelated “solutions” like “check the antivirus”.

Of course design changes ARE possible… have you lost you git ssh key and you can’t access the source code anymore ? Jeez.

I mean WTF… if you really want to get rid of us at least pretend you care like “we’ll investigate” or something.
