Any update? This thread is as old as 12 months and the request seems fairly simple. There are probably different opinions on this, but thing is, leaving no options to configure this will continue to be problematic from a UX perspective for many. So appreciate if any ETA can be given, thanks.

PS: I personally expect that Deezer Desktop app by default exits when the X is pressed. Minimizing to tray or tray icons section should be configurable.

@Rudi Do you have any ETA when this will be fixed?

Is there any progress? This is really annoying, unable to close the app with the standard way.

I’m on a trial right now looking for alternatives to my previous music streaming service.  This thread  alone is probably enough to make me not continue after the trial ends.

  • 2 year old issue of a simple convenience option
  • Prioritized into your teams backlog over a year ago
  • Still not implemented?

If you’ve added the behavior in a recent change, then it should be extremely simple for a dev to add a toggle. Is your team intentionally ignoring this one to have users keep the app open in the background?

I, too, am trialling Deezer right now, and this really really simple request not being answered is making me not want to continue using it. I suppose I’ll switch back to Spotify if we can’t get a better UI here.

Good Grief,

Does the Deezer development team look at this page. I have to guess no, since this problem has been around 3 years!

Like others I am trying Deezer out on the free 1 month trial but am unlikely to continue when I see this quite ‘annoying’ feature of needing to open my system tray to quit Deezer.

I guess they are not interested in Desktop Windows users…..Of course it’s the mobile App or nothing…..Really dodgy Deezer!

Wow! Next week it’ll be three years since this issue/demand/topic has been reported.

Deezer employees answer few times about fix in a while.

So, we are still waiting 🤪

+1 for this.

Please enable an option to quit the application on close.

Incredible that this has not been fixed yet… I might switch back to spotify or something else when my trial ends then :(

Wow 3 years and there is nothing has been done. Amazing!
I just started to use trial version, but it seems I won’t pay for that.
With that kind of support, it's not worth it.
And the lack of ability to just close the player and not look for it in the tray to CLOSE - guys, well, this is really annoying.

The windows standard is absolutely clear: Clicking on close means close. Why does Deezer believes its customers are incapable of understanding the very basics of computer use?

This decision brings no advantage for Deezer but obviously pisses off customers. What’s the problem of at least adding an option?

This is sad. It shadows a lot of good things about your service. Don’t stain it with bad decisions combined with stubbornness.

Thank you.

I do not like this as well. Deezer should exit when I click on the X button on Windows. I don’t want it to minitmize to the system tray. Or at least this should be made configurable, like in any properly designed app.

This is 3 years old now and still not implemented. What makes this worse is that, at least with Deezer Free, I am constantly getting Errors and having to restart the software. I was going to purchase a plan, but not if a basic feature like this is still not in after 3 years!

The fact this still hasn’t been changed after 3 years just shows how much Deezer cares and listens to customers. I’ve used hundreds if not thousands of programs over the years and every single one completely closes the program or has a option to allow me to decide what I want it to do when I press the X. I’d love to meet the person who thought it would be a good idea to ignore the norm and make the x button not completely close the program.

Hi @Yula, I think you should reconsider your decision. I ‘ve few good reasons to do that:

  • Minimalize application to system tray instead of close them after click on the close button is very rare and annoying.
  • Deezer in system tray is still running in system memory. It’s not good for electron framework. It makes many bugs and issues with Deezer. If you closed the one properly, you would have more stable application. I guarantee it!
  • It’s a quick win! Every single junior developer can handle it in few hours.
  • We’ve been waiting for it more then three years! If you don’t deliver that, it will be slap in the face of your loyal customers.

Please @Yula, let me know your decision. Desktop app is terrible and behaviour like this makes me crazy! It makes me consider leaving. If you want to speak off record, of course, you can send PM.

Hello @jirikovoego, unfortunately it is not my decision, the product team has its own roadmap of all the things they will work on during the year,

we present them the most popular ideas from the community to consider implementing, but they only consider ideas that have A LOT of votes and even then, sometimes they don’t think it is the right thing to do (see Deezer on Linux).

The tech team has decided not to invest anymore on the Desktop App, even though we have defended it on the part of the community,

they will not work on developping the desktop app anymore and will focus on implementing the web page instead.

Sorry about that!

Hello,

I’m giving Deezer a try, and the fact that you can’t close the app easily is really annoying. It might be a dealbreaker for me.

@Yula you said that the product team decides which feature is implemented only based on the number of votes? Even if the suggestion doesn’t make any sense?

You don’t even consider basic UX, or what is painful for your customers? 🤔

It’s not very encouraging!

@Yula  thanks for the info about no longer developing the Desktop app, now I know to cancel my trial and go with Apple Music.
