Hey @EEAlexHay

Not sure yet, but hopefully soon because we've been working on getting the community closer to them.

New to Deezer,. I use the app mostly while exercising, with high intensity songs to go along with my workout pace. the most annoying part I noticed is that the tracks are kept as is without any altering, meaning that many of the original songs have 5-10 seconds of quiet time before starting, I have to stop my training to check if the app has crashed or just skip the track WHICH IS EXTREEMELY ANNOYING and did not face this in competing apps before. is there a fix for this?

Hi there @George Hoyek

Thank you for your feedback. Please vote for the idea here and in the meantime, also check our Beta program so that you can test crossfade - if your mobile is compatible.

Unfathomable it is 2019 and this is still a thing. I'm a HiFi subscriber but I'm out if gapless isn't possible. Why would you go through the effort of streaming lossless only to butcher the music like this?

Suggesting Crossfade is a suitable substitute is disingenuous and frankly insulting to music lovers.

Someone please give a real update of when this can be expected or I'm seriously leaving and heading back to Spotify.

It would be nice to know 'why' gapless playback isn't supported in Deezer (despite it being available in several other streaming apps).

Perhaps if more details and communication were given explaining the difficulty in implementing this feature (rather than just "hey, try crossfading" and 'silence') then maybe people would be a bit more understanding. Or atleast give us a time frame as to when it can be expected to be complete

Regardless, just look at the votes: Gapless playback and Night Mode are two of the most requested features - they were both requested back in November 2017. 1.5 years later and neither have been fulfilled.

This is a signal from the Deezer community, so please dedicate your resources to these important features and prioritize them (like... we didn't really need a new logo).

It would be really nice to get Gapless Playback.
Was checking out to switch from Google Music to Deezer, due to their split up in catalogue because of YouTube Music (which seems to have stalled).

But as I listen a lot to mixes, missing gapless playback is quite a showstopper.
Google Music has perfect gapless playback (and I think its also based on MP3), so it should be possible!

Nowhere. Nowhere is there a simple function that will allow you to be the best.
Each user creates their own playlist in your application. add, finally, it is possible that the tracks with each other could overlay the end of the track and the beginning of the next one. like it's a dj set. it's so easy. And then you listen to the track and at the end a couple more seconds of silence until the next one starts. and so your application will be a hit at parties. because it will create an atmosphere of a club where a DJ brings tracks one to one. if I'm not mistaken, this function is called crossfade.

Hi there @Vikoris

Thank you for your input. I've moved your comment here so that you can support the original idea. We're constantly looking into this topic. Please contribute with a vote 😉

The gaps between tracks are absolutely annoying if you hear albums like http://www.deezer.com/album/88292622
(which is a great electronic experience). Especially electronic music like this is mixed with a emotional peak at the end of the tracks. So the gap is totally destroying the vibe. A crossfade wouldn't help in this case.

Please, leave the user interface as it is and work on the wishes of your paying customers, Deezer.

Thank you.

This is a big vote from me as well.
It's just sad to have gaps between continuing songs from one album.

Hi Rudi,

thx for your reply.

What else can we do?

Is there another place for feature requests? Like gitlab or so...

At the moment, no @Saschimi since Dark Mode was birthed in our community, our product managers and devs are constantly looking at this forum of ideas. The ideas with more votes, views and replies, and also the coolest ones, will be discussed as new features are released, so that we can plan in advance and dedicate available resources to it. So far this is the best hub to push ideas through to the app.

Currently this idea is #4 on most voted ideas or rather #3, as Dark Mode is implemented already:

There is at least one related thread on the Deezer subreddit about Gapless Playback, too, so you could mention this thread there and that people should vote for it here:

Thank you, @Rudi and @bluezzbastardzz.

It's really sad and I don't understand it. You can get high-res-sound from Deezer but no gapless playback?

Must be very annoying for all the classic music lovers out there who have no voice here, too.

I was wondering (@Rudi ) why its so difficult to deliver gapless playback. From a strictly engineering viewpoint, its reasonably trivial. Maybe the obvious methods have been patented (this is no bar to a patent!), or the track database has been constructed in a fashion that makes it awkward. Its conceivable that gapless itself is easy, but reformatting so many tracks is an intractable problem.

To play devils advocate for a moment, how valuable is gapless? For me (in UK), a gapless service costs £10pm. I play a lot of material that sounds worse without it, but for the most part it doesn't sound awful. Different people will have different views, but there will generally be a price point where a big enough discount would make it worth living without it. Would it be bearable for £5 pm instead?

Can we start a GoFundMe.com fundraiser to pay Deezer to develop this? I would gladly send 500EUR to Deezer to prioritize work on this. The alternative is to replace $15,000 EUR of B&O audio gear I use for multiroom streaming in my house, and switch to Spotify. I was literally researching alternative audio systems today because of this very problem.

Thank you very much for the feedback, guys @tlambord @EEAlexHay. I've quoted your comments to our product team 👍🏼

100% needs to be a prority. Loved Deezer so far but this is a big enough error to prevent me from commiting switching from spotify. Im sure many others will feel the same. Fix this bug and i will happily renew after my trial is up, until then I can't justify it as i have quite a few albums that rely on this working

I also want to point out the last time I ever ran into this problem was using a Nokia 5330 around 2009...

I tried Deezer for some days. Amazed with the sound quality (Deezer Hi-Fi) and with the very easy to use interface. But this thing - lack of gapless playback - is the reason why, for now, I'm going back to Spotify.

Thanks for your honest feedback @josiasmat.
@bluezzbastardzz is right, a good push with votes makes a difference, as it did for Dark Mode.

Have voted, have to say this is denting my enjoyment of the new Blanck Mass album, clearly intended for gapless listening. I can see why it could be an issue on flow/or none downloaded content, but I have this album downloaded...

Please guys.

TBH why even implement HIFI when no gapless playback is available? I mean, HiFi is meant for better listening experience for people who actually care to hear every detail, and having it implemented with being forced to hear almost second long gaps in a gapless LP makes absolutely no sense, as this isn't even a detail, it's a big difference in sound for this is silence. Deezer is surely one strange place to be. Nonetheless, I'm glad this idea is quite high on the list and hope it will be implemented very soon.
