Gapless playback between tracks

Just installed a new Yamaha receiver with support for Deezer. Sound is great. Musiccast and deezer works good. Deezer itself puts gaps between songs, this is not good!

So far I found out that Deezer is NOT changing this soon. Is that correct? If so I cancel Deezer and look for straming service without stupid gaps like Spotify (they fixed this around 2012 I understood).

Why on earth gaps between songs???? Whats wrong with Deezer? It's 2018... Grow up!

@marceldebeus I merged your post into this ideas topic. Please vote for this feedback above.

I'm afraid we don't have any short term plans for this, but we'll let you know as soon as there are any news 🙂

I'm afraid for you since this is a feature that should be put in your priority list...and that many customers or potental customers find to be essential

make the app not to cut the sound between tracks .
specially if the album was recorded with nos silence between traks in deezer is imposible to listen to it like it was originally recorded.
hope you can fix that!

I’ve just installed Deezer for 30 days trial period on HiFi subscription and surprisingly does not have gapless playback with Google Chromecast Audio.

A very well-known thread not exclusivity of Deezer but also on Tidal’s and Spotify’s.

To Deezer guys, how far are you on resolving this annoying issue? Is there any expert there that is willing to explain with all the technicalities why is that difficult to resolve this? I’ll pay a year premium subscription to the platform that first solves gapless playback!!

Crossfading alternative is not an option…. To my taste, is even worse than the one second duration of the drop between songs.
Thanks!

Been a customer for years now since I switched from Spotify as they had no favorite artists and albums. But this is seriously starting me to want to switch back. Get a grip Deezer, how hard can this be?

Agree.
This is the one thing that would make me move to Spotify. The listening exerience in some genres is inferior when there are gaps between tracks. This MUST be fixed.

No. They say crossfade is their approach...

That's a suboptimal "solution" that definitely does not work properly in many cases. In the Mac client I tried just now I either have to set a long crossfade which destroys the rhythm and timing or a short crossfade that sounds like a quick fadeout/fade in. I'm pretty sure they could improve the way the crossfade works making it less audible but best thing would be true gapless.

Is the hifi option for Deezer also suffering from this?

Crossfade isn't working anymore, can it be fixed pls

Hi,
I have just bought a Sonos Play One for the dining room so I play my Deezer music through the Sonos app when I'm downstairs. The Sonos app has a fantastic feature called cross fade which fades out the end of one track and starts to fade in the next track so there is no gap between songs. We love this feature and was wondering if this could be something that Deezer could introduce as an option when playing music?

Hello @Dgreensuperhoops.
Thanks for the update. Could you give more information on how it is not working anymore?
Beware that crossfade is only available on the beta app and you have to activate it in Deezer labs settings.

Hi @Jean-Baptite Vincey

I still have the same problem (I'm on Android beta). If I restart my phone it works but once I close the app and go back to it later cross-fade function is no longer there (until I then restart my device again).

Very frustrating as one of the best features of Android Beta!

Hi @Dgreensuperhoops

try restarting your device and checking to see if it re-appears (then it's either just me or a bug!)

The option is there, it just doesn’t cross fade anything. I’ve tried various seconds of cross fade but just doesn’t work anymore.

@Dgreensuperhoops ok thanks!
Could you tell what your phone is and on which Android version you are, to help us investigate the problem?

@Optimus I merged your post into this existing topic. Do you have the latest Android and Deezer Beta version on the device where you can't see the crossfade option?

This is not an idea, but mandatory for a music player.

Same here. This should be mandatory for a music player.

Although Deezer passes this of as an idea, I think this is mandatory for a music player. Vinyl had it, cassettes had it, CD'S had it, you can't tell me a coded music player is not able to implement this.

This is ridiculous! I paid upfront for a year of Hifi and find that there's gaps between the tracks. Why is this even a problem for them to resolve? It needs bumped up on the list of priorities! Tried listening to Dark Side of the Moon last night and it just ruins the flow. SORT IT OUT!

After being frustrated with other services, I figured I'd give Deezer a try. I cannot believe that in 2018 this service does not have Gapless Playback. I did a search for this topic here and found a few threads a while back here the Deezer support were saying crossfade was their approach. It's not a good approach at all. For those who want to know what I am talking about, listen to an album like Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. The Deezer approach is terrible and unfortunately I cannot give this company any money and will look at other services. It's sad because I did like other aspects of their app.
