Deezer plugin for Volumio 3

Dear Deezer,

Now is the time ;)

Volumio 3 is released including a new plugin store, so this couldn’t be a better time to build a Deezer plugin for Volumio (or let Volumio do it by providing them an SDK).

Tidal works perfect with Volumio, but the audiophile Volumio users know, that MQA is kind of a scam.
So why not convince them to switch to Deezer from Tidal by providing a beautiful plugin?

Totally agree!!!

This is a “quick win”, to get added value to Deezer as competition is already there with plugins provided!

Personally I would stick with Deezer inna long run if I know I’m able to utilize it in Volumio as software solution that alread passed the test of time and quality!

I believe it would be also useful from economic point of view because “hifi” subscription plan has more added value. I would definitely think to upgrade it once I can easily stream deezer to my hifi setup.

I use Volumio over raspberry pi with a special DAC  ( like a lot of people do)  through my house and mainly with Spotify as there is a plugin for it, i can sadly not use Deezer without correct plugin, other wise i would switch to it.

OK, I just ditched spotify to come to Deezer, and plan to stay, BUT I use volumio.

Big problem !

I have voted for deezer integration with Volumio.

I don’t know how long I can last.

I’d love to subscribe to Deezer and streaming using volumio.
+1

This problem exist since long time.
Deezer used to have an SDK, but it is no longer maintained.
Unfortunately they only support their Web based players, what is not really a good solution on slower computers. A C(++) SDK would be nice to have finally, but they just won’t create it. I think, they will loose some users (including me), because Spotify is well supported everywhere and slowly they will offer the same audio quality (if not yet).

I wrote Volumio with the question of not including Deezer in their service. The answer is straightforward, and I quote, “Deezer stopped replying to our email”.

What kind of attitude is this?

Just for your interest, or lack of it, I also have a Qobuz membership, and yesterday I compared 2 HQ audio albums with from Qobuz and Deezer via the same speakers and amplifier, just that Qobuz runs on Volumio with an Asus Tinkerboard and a Topping DX3pro DAC and Deezer with an Nvidia Shield. The difference in audio quality was very big in favour of the Qobuz setup with the DAC and Volumio.

Writing a Plug-in (Linux) can surely be not so costly, difficult and time-consuming to implement into Volumio.

I love both audio steaming services very much due to the differential content, but paying for the Deezer HIFI will no longer be of interest to me when this is not resolved in a few months. I guess I’m not alone with my observation.

I’m a Deezer Hifi user and am currently streaming through Sonos Connect into my system. I am planning to upgrade to a more audiophile streamer without DAC (e.g. ifi Zen streamer). Sadly, Deezer is typically not supported in the higher-end devices. I am reluctant to switch to Tidal (everybody supports Tidal) since I am very satisfied with Deezer. Deezer is not small and has many customers world-wide. Thus, I really hope they provide more support for users with highly resolving systems.

Bidjan, I have Qobuz running on Volumio with an Asus Tinkerbox (Arm based SBC) connected via USB to a Topping Dx3Pro DAC. The HiRes sound is simply magnificent and it all is fairly low cost. No need for Chromecast which is for me on a lower resolution. Since the iFi Zenstreamer is running over Chromecast you can fill in the … (dots).

Hi Ron, I am not interested in a Chromecast solution. I would like to have native Deezer Hifi support. Volumio does not have it at the moment. My current system with a Lyngdorf TDAI-2170 amp, Harbeth P3ESR XD speakers and an Aperion Bravus 12D woofer is highly resolving. With this system I am now hearing very fine and subtle differences (e.g. the sound quality using Sonos Toslink output is better than the using Sonos Coax output). I would like to test, if a high-end streamer with lower jitter is audible in my system. Today I decided to give ifi SPDIF iPurifier 2 a try, which is an external solution for reclocking/jitter reduction. If this an audible step forward, I can continue to use Sonos/Deezer … I am sceptical but who knows ...

I’d also love a Deezer plugin for Volumio. I have a RP with an Allo DigiOne hat, plus an Nvidia Shield Pro, so I have a couple of options. The Nvidia Shield gets most use with casual daily listening through Spotify, but Android upsamples everything. Unfortunately, Tidal and Qobuz are out as I live in Turkey and neither are available here, so until Spotify finally releases their HiFi tier (...) Deezer is my only option. Given the way Android upsamples everything, I don’t think the sound quality would be noticeably improved over Spotify.

Please give us a volumio plugin for Deezer

This should be a no-brainer for Deezer. The audience out there using Volumio tend to be highly engaged in various enthusiast circles and forums on the internet, influencing many other people looking for solutions in the high resolution space. Deezer would stand to benefit from a large number of new users if they just enabled this access.

Personally, I am still using a Squeezebox Classic with Deezer but I know that will eventually give up and then I’ll only have my Volumio device. I would love not to have to give up Deezer for Tidal.

Deezer, please listen.

Please deezer we need it !!

Hi DEEZER why there is no solution from your site over all the years we are beging you? I love DEEZER HIGH RES but there are inpasses in using it. Why you don’t listen to your costumers needs? Where is the general problem, you can drop pants, we are listening? Eduard

Yet another user who is just sitting, waiting (for YEARS now) for Deezer to implement this.

Years.

It would have been straightforward before Volumio subscription model. If Deezer offers an updated API, you still need to pay monthly to Volumio just for nothing. You can write the plugin and share its source, but stiil need to pay to use it (volumio premium features are just like a button labeled ‘allow plugins)’.

How is this coming along - Tidal, Qobuz and Spotify are all in Volumio now - be great if we can finally make it happen @Deezer 🙏

Hey, Deezer devs worked really hard on this amazing new UI and the heart logo, give them a break! Everything is fine 🤣

Still waiting for Deezer the odd geezer to become a Volumio plug-in. Deezer is a non pleaser. When the subscription runs out out I’ll jump ship to Quobuz.

I don’t know who made the strategic decision to shut down all the little open source plugins and not caring for a follow up. But you are loosing me as a customer to Spotify.

Hi deezer, Logitech is shutting down its squeezebox media servers, that means that the only solution to make a DIY streamer for DEEZER with a raspberry and a DAC just evaporated. It’s really a pity because, well - it was working great! Other services like qobuz and spotify are available through Volumio, would it be so difficult add deezer support? You’ll make some clients happy, and avoid to lose some of your loyal - and paying - customers!

Agreed. Using the LMS solution and with the shutdown of the servers, my only option to stream Deezer is down the …

My family will lynch me if I change their lives, but I don’t think there is another (proper, headless, streaming) option, is there?

I am here because of this. I’ve been using Daphile and Deezer and without the squeezebox servers I will be out of luck. I have a device with Volumio but I guess no joy there.
