Deezer Favourite Tracks Limit of 2000 too small - please increase it!

I love hearing new music and when flow suggests a track I love I add "heart" it to my favourites. Having been with you a number of years I'm already over the 1000 number in my favourites and not all of these show on my mobile - please increase this limit 🙂

I wish I had known the limit was only 2000 … I would have been more careful about pushing the heart on things. Now I have to go back and curate it. :(

I guess the rest have to go to some random playlist of randomness instead?

Please, I know this vote is 2 years old, but this really made me consider changing to another service, because the flows are based on my favorites, but my favorites list is just too small.

Thank you all for joining the discussion and for your precious feedback. I agree with you that this topic is rather old and that we're falling behind.

The community team is supportive of this idea, 100% - as explained before, it'll take a huge development effort, which we aren't prepared to take on at this right moment. But knowing what's happening in the background, I can tell you that we won't be ignoring this :pray_tone2:

I still wonder if a possible solution might be to store Favourites across multiple playlists in the backend, and just merge them seamlessly for the end-user (similar time above, once you hit 2000, automatically roll-off all Favourites and start with fresh, only do this seamlessly to the end-user). Because it seems Favourites are just a hidden playlist that’s presented separately?

This is a duct rape solution for something that needs real change behind the scenes. I'm not criticising the suggestion, it's a good temp fix, but it shouldn't be done if actually sorting out the issue gets kicked down the road because of it.

Playlists shouldn't enter into it. If Deezer was library-oriented in a well-designed way none of this would be an issue. There's.a thread about this I'd ask everyone to read and vote for: https://en.deezercommunity.com/ideas/325

Yeah, agree to a point. But “Favourite Tracks” appears to just be a special playlist that isn’t visible in playlists, so if behind-the-scenes Deezer can combine 50 “special playlists” of 2000 each, and it’s entirely seamless to the end-user, then who cares right?

What I’m tired of is having to self-manage the band-aid solution of using multiple playlists to overcome the existing issue. It’s very inconvenient and a waste of time. Deezer still wins on-balance with HiFi quality and a really good recommendations-engine in Flow, but an alternative HiFi provider other than Tidal would be the tipping point for me.

In order to successfully transfer your favourites, you'd have to create playlists on Deezer for that volume. We know that could be inconvenient and your feedback is much appreciated. Hopefully we can sway you back in the future :thumbsup_tone2:

Hi @Rudi - this is missing the point. People with 15K tracks don’t manually transfer their playlist song-by-song. They use a tool like Soundiiz. What you’re basically creating is a way for people to transfer out of Deezer easily, but not to be able to transfer in to Deezer. They’re the potential customers you’ll never see. And now that I think about it, transferring out is going to be a massive pain now because I’m going to have to merge my additional favourites playlists manually :disappointed_relieved: . Deezer is hard to love sometimes…

Maybe Deezer needs to work with the likes of Soundiiz to automate migration into multiple playlists? But again, another bandaid…

Month-by-month this becomes a larger and larger issue, because everyone’s favourites will always increase over time.

After years, I would have thought even just through advances in technology, you could at least double the limit. Moore’s Law may be slipping, but I’m sure you could at least double capacity by now without impact?

Yeah. At least actual deezer employees respond to and notice us. Spotify just makes the community do it with “rockstars”. I thought they were employees at first and many others have been tricked too.

Anyway, Deezer is like many other companies and just doesn’t seem to listen.

Unfortunately, at the end of a day whether forum team listens to the users or not doesn’t matter - what matters are results. It’s been TWO YEARS that paying users have been begging for larger favorites list and no matter how many times the forum staff brings it to the attention of dev team results are the same. Issue is completely ignored. Not for a month or two or six while the solution is being developed. No, this has been completely ignored for TWO YEARS and this clearly shows managements attitude to their paying customers.

I think the only way this will change is if people vote with their wallets and switch to competing products. As much as I like many features of Deezer, both the favorites issue and the way they handle family subscription profiles are really becoming very inconvenient in daily usage and will most likely force me to go back to Spotify.

Not sure if this should go in a New Idea or not, but it’s related to the max song capacity for Favorites.

What if the following exist for each song:

Favorites Icon: functionality stays the same

Add to “+” Icon: functions as “Save this song.” The Middle-Class of your music library!

This adds a second-tier of likability to a person’s musical interests. What this does will put the song in a new tab of “Favorites” titled “Tracks” sitting between “Favorite Tracks” and “Downloads.” (Basically this is just another Playlist that doesn’t show up alongside all of your other playlists.)
Any songs that you hit the + icon on will also go here and if you want to go back and move them into a playlist you can! At the same time, this allows more insight to be added to the algorithm, making it easier to understand that you do like these songs, but maybe they aren’t your favorites.

Yes, let’s give an example with food. You eat bread, but for sure bread isn’t your favorite food, maybe chocolate, meat, fish. Well, here bread is “+” and chocolate,etc are “ :hearts: “ .

Another way, written in other topic, is give stars. 5 stars are favorite, and between 1-4 the rest. Dislike button also plays a rule here

A couple of weeks ago I've reached the senior side of our Product teams to talk about this topic once more. Your support isn't and won't be ignored :thumbsup_tone2:

@teqteq we've done that when we doubled from 1000 to 2000. I've mentioned here before, the loading of favourites is on the users side - side note: Deezer is available on more than 180 countries. Some of these countries are known to offer lower end models of phones, and less capacity of broadband and mobile network coverage.

That means loading more than 2000 favourites a genuine pain in the butt. So our teams are discussing the best way to move forward with this, perhaps changing how things work, instead of putting a lot of pressure on the app itself. It'll take time, but we're aware there's no turning back on this feature - it's clear to be a necessity for our current users. So please bear with us while we progress. Help me out by getting this idea to be the first one to reach 1000 votes :smirk:
