Deezer Favourite Tracks Limit of 2000 too small - please increase it!

When I first joined Deezer a few years ago I was amazed and shocked to find out about this issue. I love Deezer, but this is the worst and most artificially looking limitation it has. Hopefully, after two years, there will be a proper, modern solution to this.

Hallo to all music friends,

How can I find a specific album more comfortable?

At Deezer I would choose about 2500 albums that I own on CD  (ok, there is a limit of 2000 albums/songs on Deezer desktop device). My music collection covers almost all music genres. I sometimes have an album in my head, but I can't remember the name of the album or artist. And I often prefer to hear entire albums.

Using Amazon Music or Media Player, I could easily find the album through the album cover with a search within a music genre.

On Deezer, searching about artists in my collection, it’s hard, because all albums of an artist will be listed.

Also creating playlists is not comfortable, which I sort by genre e.g. "Blues - Male". There are no albums displayed, but a very long list of songs.

Can the user assign an individual keyword (genre) to an album all to search for it without having an endless list of songs?

Can you switch between song list and album list?

May you have any other advice?
I think I need a search function that filters step by step. And as a result, a album list with covers should displayed.

It would be a great great pleasure to receive a short feedback. ;-))

Best regards

ofl

2020 doesn’t fit in 2K limit. Yes, a bad joke  . C’mon! 50k or 100k songs library size!!

I’m glad people are still fighting for this one, thank you everyone.  It’s absolutely vital and it makes me feel so conflicted still using Deezer when I know its not even showing me a large chunk of albums that I have saved. Every other service has major drawbacks too, if Deezer sorted this it’d unquestionably be the best service out there, whereas at the moment I feel like it’s the best of a bad bunch and I have a frustrating love/hate relationship with it.

A couple of points people have mentioned recently that I need to support and reiterate:

  1. Deezer needs to be truly library based.  All music should be saved to a user library that can be browsed by artist, album or tracks, just like any software that handles music people store on their hard drive/device storage. Simply putting favourite tracks on a playlist is a hacky workaround way of saving music that doesn’t cater for anyone who listens to a medium to large amount of music. A quick fix like extending the limit to 4000 or something like that won’t cut it in the slightest, the whole music-saving framework needs completely reworking. This may be a large/costly undertaking, but it needs to happen. It will elevate Deezer to being a real major competitor in the streaming market which it currently falls slightly short of. The long term benefits will make it more than worth it.
  2. This is an issue for the CEO etc to look at, not for developers. You should honestly print out this entire thread and hand it it to CEO/board, they need to understand the frustration people feel about this and how much it damages user experience. The software is (seems to be at least) built on weak foundations, which will prevent it from moving forwards. Developers will probably need to secure a large amount of resource/funding for making this sort of change so it will need to be driven by high level members of the company who define the product's roadmap, not by technical staff (who obviously work very hard, but I don’t imagine can initiate such major changes/projects).

Thank you for putting up with my repeated rants. I wouldn’t bother doing this if I didn’t feel like Deezer had the potential to be something really great.

😨

So while this is being worked on, here’s a very hacky work-around to slightly lessen the pain - if you have to overflow to a Playlist, put a * at the start of the playlist name and it will stay at the top of your list in mobile apps so you don’t have to fumble through the list.

e.g. *Favourites2

Not good but whatchagonnado?

It’s already been 2(!!) years! And nothing has been done?!

Is that called a ‘service’? What is the problem with increasing it gradually, like by a thousand a year, or in two years? Technically for a company as big as Deezer I don’t see it as a problem to even remove the limitation at all.

Or is under a thousand people who `plused` the “IDEA” not enough to even bother?

Looks like some lazy devs rather than a technical limitation and a disrespect for minority from my side!

Another cent for looking for another service and not recommending Deezer to a friend! UNFORTUNATELY!

Absolutely. I’m a disgruntled Spotify user, and their “New Library Experience” absolutely scuttled my enjoyment of the app. I used it for four years without any issues, and then they cut a bunch of library management features, telling users to just “make a playlist” as a temporary fix. That was six months ago, with no update since.

Deezer looks great to me, but the one thing holding me back is that it’s also not particularly suited to be a music library. Fair enough since it was designed that way, unlike Spotify which upset a loot of users, ignored the community, and just hoped it would all blow over. If Deezer gets an update to make the music library side of the app fully functional, I’d become a paid subscriber in a heartbeat, and I don’t think I’m alone in that.

Hi there @Grawlix @DrTwiSteD

Thank you for your honest feedback. This hasn't been worked on yet, but it's on the plans for this year - perhaps not increasing the limit, but changing the way users can add music to their favourites :thumbsup_tone2:

Honestly, and I know I definitely don’t speak for everyone, especially people who rely on playlists, but for a music library, I could absolutely live with the 2,000 limit for albums & artists if I could browse them in a cohesive way. Especially if I can like an album but remove tracks (e.g., bonus tracks), and still shuffle through every song on anything I have saved. Then the 2,000 song limit is essentially my “miscellaneous” category.

Again, this definitely won’t address the song limit for most users, but it will relieve the pressure on some potential users.

Nowadays, until they increase (again) that limit, I work with alphabetical playlists and flow doesn’t consider them, but at least i know if a song is already there by the message it shows.

Is that correct?

It was mentioned earlier that Flow does consider songs in playlists as well as Favorites.

Community Managers can help us.
Features of Deezer page  (source: https://www.deezer.com/features ) says the following:

Experience Flow, only on Deezer.

Flow is all your favorite music, mixed with fresh recommendations and songs you forgot you loved. It gets to know what you like and what you don't, and plays an infinite stream of music chosen just for you. All you have to do is press the button.

So it talks about favorite music, not playlists.

I send you my list of playlists, is similar to what you wrote before. We need a  playlist search bar, but that’s another topic in discussion.

Rudi,

Quite frankly - screw your developers. They’ve proven themselves to be incompetent enough to ignore this issue for two years now. Get c-level management involved, your company WILL lose tons of subscriptions if this doesn’t get resolved soon. That’s not a dev issue, it’s a support issue and needs to be taken seriously for once. You promised resolution soon, and yet its already February and nothing has been done. Even Spotify can do better than this.

Checking on this topic again few weeks later, and see that nothing got done, despite promises that this was a priority in 2020.

At this point I can only offer a view on how it looks from my side (hi-fi subscription paying user). As a result of hitting this ridiculous limit, I’m using Deezer less and less -- now more than a week went by without checking it. Still listening to the same amount of music, just switched to different service: YM. It’s far from perfect, but I’ve got 3446 favorite tracks there, and not a single peep from them about some limits, etc. How is this mediocre Russian app beating you, Deezer? And to add insult to injury -- they have official “Import your music collection from Deezer” option in settings.

Still paying for my subscription, though, but now wondering why.

YM stands for Yandex Music or something else? Worth to give it a try. What about their music library and audio quality? It takes too long for Deezer to fix this issue.

Wow, 2yrs later and still no update! I have just reached my 2000 favourite track limit, pretty disappointing being a paying member :( Surely you guys can just set it to a crazy huge number or infinite?

Cheers :)

Hi @clarebearno1

Thanks for your support.

I understand what you mean but it doesn't work like that. The more favourites, the longer it'll take for your app to load them - and for the features to as well. But we've taken your feedback with great appreciation, this is one of our most important suggestions this year :thumbsup_tone2:

It takes favorites when they’re not download as hyperlinks?  To load faster.
Weight is another point for HiFi users
Have a look inside Google and Apple music apps to know how they manage to load 100k :grinning:
