The most voted idea in our Deezer Community.
We're proud to announce that our favorite tracks limit has been increased to 10,000 tracks!
Thank you all for your patience and support while we worked on the delivery of this immense project. We hope you enjoy marking those songs as favorites now
This should be a gradual rollout to users, so please stay tuned for more details.
I'll be announcing this officially on our community homepage soon, so that you can give us your feedback. Once again, thank you!

I hope Deezer are still working on this?
Looks like I'm heading back to Spotify finally then. I half like and half hate Deezer, it's a nice little app, but it's so frustrating waiting years with really basic core issues not being resolved (this, gapless playback, flow not being fit for purpose) which every music streaming service should have as standard.
Couple that with the fact that you constantly seem to be adding pointless "nice to have" features and changing the UI daily (but never improving it, often making it worse), and there's not reason for me to stay.
Your product managers have no sense of priority and are causing Deezer to stay lagging behind in the streaming market. You'll never be real competition to other services until you get the basics right, and it sounds like you're not even going to try to do that.

Time to see what other streaming services are like I think...

Sadly, I'll take my business elsewhere.
So much waster time, so much potential, such a steep disappointment.

just noticing this is slowly going up (and 2nd highest on the ideas so far) - I'm hoping your technical team make this a priority as it already is showing itself as a bug bear for users (and as I said the longer a user is with you the bigger their collection gets!).
Looks like the team did not take this idea as a priority, since we are about to reach 2 years since the first post/suggestion. And Spotify already allows 10k, so... 🙄

Deezer already doubled the amount from 1.000 to 2.000 on all devices. Now it takes some time to double (or more) again. 👍

Hi.
I was not aware it was 1k before; I though the complaining was to the 2k limit. Thank you for the info.
Nevertheless, I am in favor of increasing the limit to, at least, match Spotify's 10k.
Cheers.

Hi. I appreciate the reply and honesty.
I believe the playlists need be improved to allow us some sort of automatic filtering (by genre, for instance) and to tell us which favorite track is already part of a playlist, so the favorites tracks limit is a lesser issue. Both features are nonexistent, and I have already voted the idea on another topic.
Cheers.

What about the album limit? I don’t personally use playlists.
The album limit is a huge limitation and why I cannot switch over from Tidal. I can't imagine any HiFi user accepting a limit to how many albums they can add to their catalog.

Hey
The workaround for you could be to create a playlist with the album songs. I completely appreciate what you're saying, but the limits will stay like this for a while. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi there
Thank you for your support. It won't be looked at soon because it is very technically challenging to increase our current limits. I know there's a streaming service which others allege can support 10000 items but that isn't accurate either. We actually have more restrictions on combinations of limits but we have an increased one since you can add 2000 playlists with 2000 tracks - desktop. The voting helps add priority to the idea once other major features, already prioritised, are completed. It's not a 'no, it's 'not for now'. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Rudi,
I really appreciate your explanations and while I understand it's probably not possible I'd love to understand specifically why it's so technically challenging. Speaking one on one with a developer would be great, though I understand this probably can't happen. Because I can't do this, I'm making a few assumptions here. Please help me understand though.
Other streaming services don't "allegedly" allow for 10000 tracks, they just do. In Spotify's case that's a full library limit though, no one's asking for a playlist of 10000 songs! You were able to browse that as a single list, but it was the central container of all songs. The reason I left them is because I hit that limit. Deezer can actually provide more than that, as crazy as that sounds given the contents of this thread, but in having 1000 albums on my device (2000 in library overall) averaging more than 10 tracks each meant this was the case.
2000 playlists of 2000 songs each is more than enough music for anyone, it's just a horrible format in which to deal with it. No one wants to have "My Music part 1" followed by an arbitrarily split off "My Music part 2".
Your issue is that everything's based around playlists, it's a strange and sort of counter-intuitive way to design the way you manage music in the app. Just because people want over 2000 songs saved it doesn't mean you need to have 2000+ sized playlists, it sounds like you're thinking about it in the wrong way and trying to solve the wrong problem.
What you need is a system where a user's music is treated as a library, rather than songs on a playlist. You currently kind of have that in the way that I use the app as I save albums. This means I can browse a list of over 1000 albums, and see all the album's songs when I open one. As I see it, all the metadata for saved songs should simply be added to a user's total library which is stored against the user in your database (with a local copy on the device). Then on their device the user can browse this data as a list of artists who have content in the library, albums which have content within the library, and a list of all songs as well. Basically how old media library software like iTunes would do it pre-streaming. Playlists would then just be a list of pointers to the songs the user adds. This is what a lot of people want from a streaming service, to build a library of music, not just a long list of songs. Designing it that way would still make a better experience for users that do just want <2000 songs saved.
Again, what you have sort of resembles this in some ways, but then it all comes back to the fact that the feature to save a song adds it to a playlist object, the same playlist object as is created by users, instead of adding it to a central library for that user.. That in itself is strange and prohibiting.
I'm talking out of my arse without fully understanding here, because I don't know your back end data structures or anything like that, but it's clear that there are some major issues there which will hold you back forever unless you sort them out.
I understand this might have been a design flaw a while ago that might now be difficult to unpick, but it's major, and sorting this out would completely proof you against any complaints of this kind and leave you with a far more robust and powerful app/service that would be pretty much unbeatable by other streaming services (especially given Spotify's recent decline in design).
Sorry to go on and on so much, I understand my ranting here must be quite annoying, it's just frustrating not to understand why something that shouldn't be difficult and frustrates so many users so much (you've got to remember in a fraction who are affected will seek out Deezer Community, and even fewer will post) is not something you would work on. All I can assume from how I imagine everything works is that it's not technically difficult as you say, but just might be a bit time consuming and involve some redesign. I can't see how this wouldn't be worth it in the long run though.
I've mentioned it before, but this is especially frustrating as you update and tweak the UI so often without ever achieving much (it remains quite unintuitive, I won't even start worrying about that while this is still an issue though).
I wish so much I could sit down in a meeting with a developer, just to try and directly understand all this and satisfy my curiosity about why this would be so difficult to sort out. I understand you can just let me right in to how everything works under the hood, but please forward this to the developers, and if they could provide us with some sort of direct response that would be incredible.
Sorry again.

So hard to let this thread die. This impacts the ability to use this app every time I try to use Deezer. I was at the 2000/1000 limit the day I signed up when I tried to move all of my Tidal albums over. Now when I come across new albums to listen to, I NEED to be able to add them to my favorites so I can go back to them and listen. I cant possibly remember every album I want to listen to and have to search for them every time I want to hear them. The point of favoriting is so you have a personal collection to dig through and see something to listen to. It just boggles my mind that this isn’t available. The multi playlist workaround just doesn’t work from an experience perspective. There has to be a way to increase this when every other service allows a much larger limit. Its not like I’m asking for 1M favorites, I have maybe 2300 on tidal, but just get to parity with the other providers. And ios/mac app need to match.
