Gapless playback between tracks

There should be no gap between tracks running into each other. This is a basic thing for the listeners experience.

Hi .
No , gapeless is not possible on Deezer , however you can use crossfade . Better than nothing 🙂.
Hare is my explanation on how to do it :

You have Crossfade on Android but you need to use the beta version in order to use it ...
Here is a tutorial on how to join the beta program :

As you , I also think Gapeless should be part of the features available .

I hear you. I'm not into buggy software as well but for me Deezer beta work fairly well.

So true.

Does Deezer support gapless streaming on classical albums from artists like Mike Oldfield?

No. They say crossfade is their approach...

I usually listen classical music, and many works have no time gap like operas and very long symphonies.
So I want to 'off' the time gap option for at least downloaded music.
How can I off that optoin?

I see that requests for gapless playing have been raised in the past, both as suggestions and in the troubleshooting section, and dismissed with "well, we have cross fade" and then marked as "solved". This is unacceptable. Many classical albums, operas, musicals and modern albums (Pink Floyd for example) are continuous music. Inserting several seconds gap every few minutes completely ruins the listening experience. It's like having adverts in the middle of your music!

I see from web search that Spotify introduce gapless play 5 years ago in 2012. If Deezer want customers to pay higher prices for Premium and HiFi, it's got to be the same experience as listening to a CD or top quality vinyl. No breaks. No ads. No gaps.

Please.

Hi @David Jansz I moved your topic to this existing one. Please note that even though this topic was marked with a best answer it doesn't mean that we are not looking into it. The ideas forum is still open :)

I don't have a concrete update from the developers yet which is why I couldn't publish anything. But I will of course let you know should there be an update 🙂

Hello, is there a way to hear in one continues mix, like when hearing trance music artist as armin van buuren. At the moment there a gap between songs and is very annoying hearing in this way.

Hi @Matan Pollak , do you mean crossfade? 👇🏽

No i mean as one track only. There is trance music thate the album is dj full set. And between tracks the app make gap of few seconds. As result when mix of two tracks that should hear as one has a gap. For example the album of armin van buuren - a state of trance 845.

That's the exact thing I've been looking for! Not only with trance music, but with any music it's kind of annoying that there's a second for the music to stop..

Gapless is a must!
(And not to be mixed up with cross fading which would not solve it)

When listening to a mixed CD, this quarter of a second gap is really annoying.
See for ex. the following "Live at Robert Johnson" http://www.deezer.com/album/13637588

Thanks for mentioning this idea and hope developers will improve it.

this is a answer i recived from the support.

"I'm afraid the song merging is only a feature of some players, and there is no option to modify the pause between two songs in Deezer".

As Musicislife says, there's no gap with crossfade and you can also hear the song that was playing before and the next one through Radio Anchor. You'll find it in Settings, Deezer Labs.

Thanks Walker and MusicLife.
No such thing as crossfading in Deezer desktop app for Mac ver. 0.2.46.250.
HTML5 web app does not have it either.
I have to wait then until this is "fixed" for the different players.

There are albums like Tubular Bells II, or The Wall that use no space between the tracks. When I listem to them on Deezer it is irritating to have these breaks between the songs. Can you please add an option "Play the whole album with no pauses"? That would be great and I guess it shouldn't be difficult for your IT engineers. Please support my idea 🙂

You probably talking about Gapeless feature . As much as I know Deezer not going to implement it soon (Someone from customer support told me) , but they do have Crossfade option so while a song fade out the next one will start . To use this feature on the mobile app you need join in the beta program . You can find more info on how to do it below :

https://en.deezercommunity.com/troubleshooting-and-tips-4/you-can-become-a-beta-tester-165/index1.html#post262

If you want to use this feature on the browser this is how to do it :

Anja,

Lack of "gapless" playback should be high priority for Deezer. I honestly have trouble understanding why it hasn't been in place for a long time. It should honestly be trivial to implement.

As others have mentioned, there are many albums where tracks are connected without silence. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is a great example, and I respectfully request that you to listen to just 5 minutes of this album. You will hear a break in the music twice in 5 minutes, as if someone paused the album momentarily. I think if you hear the problem, you will understand our concern. (This is not exactly an obscure album: it spent 15 YEARS on the Billboard Top-200 album sales list!)

There are many other albums with this same effect, both rock and classical. Listening with gaps or even crossfades absolutely ruins the flow of the album.

Please help us get this fixed!

Thank you,

-Alex
