The search function is completely broken.

I have already reported this to the support of Deezer and this must have been 2,5 - 3 months ago and it is still broken.And I have told them that at least for android it happened since version 8.x of the app, when the switch to the purple heart was made

It simply does not show content in the search results while it is available and I can listen to it (I have albums marked as favourite that do not show up.

I have given very simple steps to reproduce the error + all the information I could give and even gave told you that on android version .x6 and 7.x do show more results (the order it is sorted though is terrible) but at least it does show more results.

The images below is just one of the search terms that simply do not show content I know is available and the screenshots were taken about a month ago.

The images below show you how much results are not shown in the latest version ignore the red bar it just states that the browser is not supported, I used firefox on my android phone, in non desktop view it only shows almost 300 results which is  similar to the results I see in the older version 6.x and 7.x of the android app and when I toggle desktop site on it only shows 17 albums which is similar to what I see in the current version of the app on android phone, tablet, desktop browser and windows version and my samsung tv.

 

17 results va 298 that is a huge difference to me. And for some reason after anout 3 months it is not fixed, so Injust use an older version of the android app to be able to get better results but this is not possible on all platforms

The behaviour of the search function is also very strange. If you tyoe in a title it may happen that as you type it cannot find it and with the next character you type it does find, next one doesn't etc.

 

 

Is anybody else having the same issue where the search does not show content you know is definitely available?

It's quite hard to know if it is showing content or not if you do not know for sure it is available but I have checked with a friend from the UK and he gets identical results as my search results.

 

I haven’t seen this before, but like you said, if you don’t know it, you won’t miss it.

I was going back and forth with support providing examples, software and os versions etc at thr beginning of june

Here is another example that I gave at juli 21st when I asked for an update

Back then the current version of the app showed a result of 53 albums.

The older versions of the app showed 296 albums.

What is even worse is that I got a reply back that the search was gradually update to give a smooth and better experience but nobody bothered to take 5 minutes and actually check if it did.

I replied back and never got a response, recently sens another email recently but no response.

To me it is as if they don’t care that only a fraction of the albums are shown and the strange behaviour (I hope I still have the screencapture somewhere but it is all uploaded on the zendesk environment but I no longer have the url for it since I provided as much info as I could, steps to reproduce and thinking that it would be solved by now. It is not a small amount that it does not show, we aee talking about 243 albums not showing at the time I tested it.

I will just keep using version 7.x for now but it I am not even sure if that is showing me all the results, at least it shows a lot more.

Hello @Ksathral, is the Deezer app on your device updated to the latest version?


Yes and No (because the search is broken)

I am using the current version available on the Google play store on my phone and on my tablet I am using version 7.1.5.81-7010507.

The reason for using the older version of the app is mentioned above v8.x only shows limited results.the app works fine its just missing some stream to device functionality.

I have even provided support with the apk file in case it is needed to resolve the issue.

I no longer have the url of the zendesk page but I have uploaded all thr requested information + screenshots screencaps there and in the email communication I can see that the images etc are still available

In the current version do a search for the word thunderdome and select the albums category.

 

Do you see the albums shown in the image below?

I had the same results on windows app, firefox on windows, I checked at my parents place in case it was somethjng wjth my network, I even asked a friend from the UK to check and he also doesn’t see the albums from the first image.

To me it is as kf the old version somehow use the search as a mobile browser client and rhe current version the desktop version.

But I am not a developer so I have no idea how difficult it is to fix, all I know is that versions 6 and 7 the versions before the logo switch to the purple heart show a lot more results than the current version 8.0.18.7

I then provided some more details about what platforms OS version, storage space on devices, app versions even my samsung tv (although that one will always show limiyed results.

I even provided a screencapture with how the search function behaves by just typing a title which each letter you tyoe it may show up or it dissapears.

 

If I am looking for a specific album and cannot find it then I’ll try yo find it this way

 Use spotify to search for the content

Then use version 7 to see if I can find it by using one or several words or combinations of the album title (they usually are Various Artists ones) and add it to favourites.

Obviously this is not a great way to do it but I have no idea what is not available and what is available. But I feel lije it's not important enough to fix because almost 3 months later and it's still not fixed.

I don't knokw what else to provide so I thought I will just ask here if anyone has similar examples I think the 3 images clearly show that you search with one word and expect it to show you all res


I was searching here for threads about the search and I came across this post where the second reply shows a screenshot with a search for “voff voff”

It shows 216 albums as search result

I only see 24 albums

@Alfredo.Deezer  @awesomemac  How many results do you see when you search for “voff voff” and then the albums category. With or without the quotes seems to make no difference on my end.

With the older version 7 it does show a lot more probably around 200+ (I am not going to count them 1 by 1 but I made screenshots of the cromite browser on my phone.

In desktop mode (which is similar to what the current version shows for me on several platforms) it shows 28 albums

When I turn desktop mode off and have the browser in mobile view (this is comparable to what the older version shows) it results in 300 albums

I get 23 albums when seatching for Voff Voff.


This is what I see with an older version 7

I didn't want to take too many screenshots so I made a screen capture of what the olde4 versions show

On the screens below there is VOFF in the artist or album name (except the 2nd result)

And at the end it shows search results for “OFF”
