Deezer device support for Wiim mini Airplay 2 streamer desperately needed

The Wiim mini Airplay 2 is the only budget hifi streamer on the market, meaning a lot of people use it. However, Deezer is unusable with the Wiim app because it constantly seems to log you out so you get random favorite artists and albums, and there’s no app support so you can’t use the Deezer app the same way you can the Spotify app. I will be switching to Tidal because there’s no indication Wiim is going to fix this bug. You are probably actively losing lots of memberships over this issue.

I should also add this morning that I can’t even listen to anything because after a song or two the connection is lost. As noted, this is a widely reported issue here, on the Wiim forums, on reddit, and on audiosciencereview. This problem is a direct threat to your subscriber base given that the Wiim is the choice of hifi streamer for most people, being 1/5 the price of something like a bluesound node.

Hey @andresdelnorteh

according to this post on reddit, there will be an update in mid-October.

https://www.reddit.com/r/deezer/comments/xu0erz/update_for_wiim_mini_airplay_2_coming_in_october/

The Wiim Mini still uses deezer's old API, which is no longer supported. The Wiim developers are now implementing the new API.

The update to the new API is supposed to have happened but it still behaves like switching to a trial subscription after a few tracks (or after some time, I didn’t test in depth). First in FLAC and life is good, then the quality is switched to MP3/128k and skips at exactly 30s. Until I log out and back. But I can’t listen through a whole album.

that is frustrating

Yeah it was supposed to be fixed almost three weeks ago according to Wiim. I wouldn’t be so bothered if they hadn’t expressly stated it worked on Deezer. And I really don’t want to use Tidal because it’s missing so much music.

Yeah it only plays 20 seconds on like 80% of the songs through WiiM or can’t find the song but the app phone app plays whole songs. I don’t listen to music on my phone- it’s really buggy. Spotify is seamless , but not as high quality. I guess Tidal is the only option at the moment.

this is a shame and needs to be fixxed.
Don’t lose out on the great opportunity to be the middle ground / but best streaming app by not supporting  Wiim mini and the upcoming pro streamer.

Is there still hope that Wiim and Deezer will manage to solve the software problems together?

I would be pleased
love greetings

When I use the Deezer app, neither IOS nor Android devices are able to find my Wiim Mini with Deezer Connect. Spotify Connect works, however unstable. Airplay works, but this does not support true Hifi quality, btw my only reason to chose Deezer over Spotify. Tidal Connect works, but is missing to much music and interesting playlists, if you‘re not into Hip Hop.

The Wiim App on my iPad does not work with Deezer for 80% of the time, either. Anyway, I would prefer not having to rely on its outdated GUI.

After having spent much to much energy on testing different devices and streaming services, this whole topic makes me wonder whether I should restart to invest my money in CDs and vinyl.

Try 4stream app instead of Wiim

Wiim mini and pro now appear to be sorted for Deezer Hi-Fi. But we users can't stress this enough: every day Spotify lossless is in development is a day Deezer should be working to make its Hi-Fi service available on every major streaming device and protocol. Android TV, BluOS, HEOS, MusicCast, WIIM. Of those I list, most are sorted out. HEOS is not yet done. Deezer has a slightly bigger library than Spotify. It has a better shuffle and flow functionality than Tidal. It should be ait more popular than it is among audiophiles. Interfacing and compatibility projects should be a priority.

Thank you for the feedback @Mister_Sterling

Is it sorted out between deezer and wimm

I'm wondering if there's any point in using Deezer if the company isn't interested in fixing the software. Cannot connect to the Wiim pro in any way. Why the other companies don't have a problem with this? There is so much good opinion about the quality of Deezer and you can't even listen to it on good device without a cable. Second point - why Wiim pro has so narrow space for RCA cable? It looks like you don’t have a choice to use better quality cables - you must use only thin cable which are not good

Hello @darek072 unfortunately there isn’t any update on this topic.

As this issue is occurring in the Wiim pro app, even that it might be link to our API, I would recommend to reach Wiim pro Customer Support.

They should have a direct internal connection with our developers and if the issue is on our side, it will be handle by the two team internally.
