Hello,

I have some small issue with the Deezer beta app under windows 10. Everything gets up-sampled to the sample rate set up for shared mode in windows control panel.

Anyone has some idea why this is happening?

thank you for you help.

PS: Hardware: Windows 10 laptop + Chord Mojo (DAC)

I think I know what is the issue. Deezer did not implement exclusive mode for devices.

Hi there! 🙂 Could give us more details about this? What do you mean by up-sampling? Are your devices connected via bluetooth?

Hello Anja,

I attached some pictures:

As you can see every tune that I play has the same sample rate 384kHz. I'm pretty sure you are not streaming at that rate. 😁 I'm sure it has to do with the fact that the application is not using the device in exclusive mode. It would be excellent if you could implement a bit perfect mode. (Like your competition) 😁. Hope this helps.

Also, I can tell you that the issue is present also on android. There on my Samsung S6 Edge paired with the Mojo trough USB everything plays at 192kHz(blue LED color on the Mojo).

Thanks for the details, Christian 🙂 I moved your topic to our ideas forum and change the title slightly so that other users can discuss this and vote for it 🙂 Hope this can be implemented in the future 🙂
Also with Windows 10 64bit build 1803 + Schiit Yggdrasil. Kudos for Christian Ioan for the detailed post with pictures, means I don't have to do so myself 🙂
If you are still using Deezer, Most tracks are 16-bit/44.1KHz.
I had a bump in SQ in most songs by changing my windows default output to 16-bit/44.1KHz.

Hi,

Last year Sony started a new streaming service called “Mora Qualitas”. It supports exclusive mode output (which bypasses OS mixer) with both Windows and Mac OS and allows direct output to external DAC.

I have subscriptions of both Deezer and Mora Qualitas. If I compare sound quality with same tracks (with same streaming quality of 44.1/16 of course) between two services, the difference is so obvious. Exclusive mode is so much superior in SQ.

Hope Deezer desktop app will support exclusive mode in near future.

Thanks,

Thanks for bumping this up @daiji_uchida, much appreciated. Will pass this fresh feedback to our devs for discussion :v_tone2:

Yeah, it is important to have exclusive mode in Android and Windows apps. Hope they'll add it, or (sadly), i will jump to something like tidal soon.

This feature alone will make deezer the absolute best in terms of quality, value and library.

3 years later and still no exclusive mode? With Tidal my dac will change bit rate according to the song played but not so with Deezer. Even though the small amount of info I seen mentioned audio is only 16bit 44.1khz anyway but having exclusive mode would still be a benefit. Even with Tidal there is a noticeable difference in sound quality and I struggle to find an audible difference between Spotify and Deezer. It’s rather unfortunate because I do not like supporting Tidal in the slightest especially now that they want to force MQA on people who have devices that support decoding it.

Thanks for the feedback @Mrcrunch08

We haven't had the opportunity to work on this yet, but it's an interesting discussion. I'll forward your comments on :relaxed:

Yeah, you all need to focus on this now. Your competition offers exclusive mode and you don’t. If you want to stay competitive, you need to implement this. Otherwise, people will question the bitrate that they are actually getting. It is unacceptable that 3 years after this idea was mentioned and you still haven’t implemented it. Escalate immediately.

Thanks for the feedback @eac194 we'll take your comments into consideration!

Are you working on playing bit perfect on android devices, like TIDAL does?

Hey @Rafael Ramirez

Thanks for the feedback.

Not on the plans yet but our teams are interested! Hopefully we can get more and more users asking for it :relaxed:

hey

so like i have qobuz and deezer and i love how qobuz has asio support which is super quick and reliable

and i do want to try out tidal but i saw the price tag and it’s more expensive and the period i had tidal for free i felt that qobuz sounded pretty much better even on my phone where it doesn’t have exclusive support although via apps you can get it

There is a related idea on this forum where you can vote for it:

There simply is no need, when we know that it is 16x44.1 which is the default setting on all Windows PCs. Just advise users NOT to change this setting.

It is a very useful feature for services that offer variable stream resolutions, like T and Q, but Deezer is not in that category, which may be an advantage for non-geeky users who leave settings at default.
Also consider not every user will like Exclusive mode, where no Games nor YouTubes could play audio when “background” Deezer music is playing in Exclusive Mode. Consider that “Exclusive Mode” is only needed to switch the resolution, which anyway is a match to default setting… moot point.

There shall be extra support calls (“My other apps crash/stop/do no play sound! You broke my PC!”) while not necessarily improving sound quality.

This is the answer. You settings are set to the max sample rate and bit depth, set it at 16-bit/44.1KHz to match the CD quality of what Deezer is outputting then all will be good.
