Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Bugs/Issues/Workarounds

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

Hey @Jaime.
I did the app update during the last few days and something has changed in my Windows desktop app - there is no information about a date when the track was added to my playlist. Why it was removed? It was a very helpful option for me. For example, on the online version, this option is still available.
Regards,
Monika

Not a new problem, but a very strange and annoying one I’ve been having for a year now:
Since the end of last year, I can't listen to the longest tracks on Deezer anymore. Whenever a track is over 20-minute long (something not unusual in the genres of music I listen to), the streaming starts normally but after the first 2 or 3 minutes it systematically stops with an error message saying that it can't be loaded. If I manually move the cursor further into the track, the streaming restarts there but the same error message happens again after a couple of minutes, and so on.
That never happens on shorter tracks, so I guess it's due to the weight of the longer tracks and probably some related cache overload, but clearing the cache doesn’t make any improvement.
I've already invastigated this problem as far as I could and I’m sure that it doesn't come from my internet connection or anything like that. And again, until the end of last year it worked just fine, and nothing has changed on my side. (I’m only using Deezer on the website via Firefox, no apps, and please don’t ask me to uninstall/reinstall everything or to use another browser, I’m tired of these false solutions).
In fact, the only workaround I've found to still be able to read those long tracks is to reduce the audio quality, if I put it at only 128kb/s instead of 320kb/s, then it works. But it's definitely not a really satisfaying solution…
I really hope that Deezer will improve things on their side, or I’ll consider moving to Spotify.

This sounds like a too slow internet connection to me though, sorry. If you were using HiFi streaming with FLAC files, this would even be worse. And Spotify Premium also uses 320kbps Ogg Vorbis streams, so probably you would have the same problem, also with other streaming sites using any higher quality format.

@bluezzbastardzz Thanks for your reply, but I can assure you that it’s NOT my internet connection. I know it looks like that, but it’s not that, believe me. I won’t go into details here, but as I said, I’ve already investigated this question seriously. And, by the way, I don’t have any problem with video streaming, so 320kbps audio should not be a problem at all.

In fact, at first when I started to encounter this problem a year ago there wasn’t even the error message. The streaming of very long tracks just stopped after the first 2 or 3 minutes and mysteriously restarted automatically at the beginning of the track. That didn’t look like buffering. Now it doesn’t restart at the beginning anymore, and there is the error message, but the problem is still basically the same.

Webapp creates empty playlist when trying to save Friday Releases
I try to save Friday Releases as a playlist because tehre is no other way to access it via Sonos (please fix!!). However it fails and creates an empty playlist (works well on Android).

If you call up the context menu of the topmost tracks in the visible playlist (considering the position on the screen, not the absolute track number), then some context menu items behave incorrectly. Specifically, the Back button does not work. If you scroll down the playlist, this is observed in other tracks that fall to the top of the playlist.

Good afternoon. I have been using Deezer on my phone for a long time. I decided to try it on pc. And the list of favorite tracks on the pc version goes in reverse order. That is, the newly added song goes to the end of the list. Although on the phone, a new track is added to the top of the list. By starting the newly added track in the favorites list, the next song comes from the first added track in this list. The sorting buttons of the tracks are shuffled only by the artist, but not by the time the track was added. Maybe there is a way to fix this? V 5.30.140

What’s going on with Deezer Web?

Duration of tracks in album has suddenly become 3:00. When I play a single, it starts playing other single for a second, then the one I clicked. And some songs suddenly stop playing in the middle. It happens to Lollobrigida. I’m not sure about other artists.

Hi,

I have been experiencing regular issues with the Deezer App on Mac.

While my playlists usually always work, and I can play songs on them, clicking on the artist or album link gives the “Error. An error occurred, please try again later.”

It’s the same with the search. Results are shown and I can play songs, but navigating to any artist or album page gives the error.

At the same time, Deezer’s browser app on Chrome works just fine.

Relaunching the app does not fix it. And reinstalling the app usually doesn’t resolve the issue, but I think rebooting the whole computer has always fixed it.

I’m using version 5.30.140 (5.30.140.82). The OS version is macOS Big Sur 11.6.2

The desktop app (Windows) is preventing my W10 box from sleeping.

With the app launched but not streaming my W10 box will not enter sleep. If I quit the app the W10 box successfully enters sleep.

Regardless of whether I’m streaming or not I’d expect to be able to put my computer to sleep and  have it remain there. (If the app is streaming I’d expect it to stop streaming.)
