Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Bugs/Issues/Workarounds

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

It could be because we don't fully support the browsers @coypu but there's light at the end of the tunnel, it's on our radar.

To check for the version, have a look at the top left, Deezer, and About :relaxed:

Hi Rudi,

I have just realized that in actual fact I use the Web Player and not the desktop app as the app is not compatible with Linux. I some how thought I was using the desktop app when streaming Deezer. :kissing_smiling_eyes:

Cheers

Hi again,

it seems that my previous navigation issues are resolved in 5.20.0, so thanks for that!

I still have playback issues. This also happens back in 5.10.0 but I didn’t mention it because the navigation issues were more annoying and this one sounds a bit more complicated to fix.

So what happens is, after a few tracks, the music will sometimes stutters/stopping for a few seconds/minutes. Or sometimes even stopping for good. I can try pausing/unpausing it for a temporary remedy but it will immediately stutter again. Another way is skipping to the next track and then clicks back to previous track, this will resolve the stuttering for the current track, but the next track or some tracks after it will have the same problem again.

Sometimes it even throws error, although not always:

I’ve already ruled out my connection since I’ve tested it with streaming something else and they run well. Also this doesn’t seem to happen on the mobile (iOS) app, only the desktop app.

Yo everyone !

Here is my feedback so far based on 5.0.0/5.10.0 . (I know a new version is available , still didn’t get it ).

v5.0.0

  • Hearted a song won’t update

  • Backward Navigation doesn’t work in a “Page error” (i.e. broken album page) . Actually they don’t work at all

  • Removing an album from favorites won’t update unless I navigate to a different section and go back to albums

v5.10.0

  • Desktop app is crashing when dragging it up . See video :

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BVp0CcyENA76SYW0XqA1IVECJce5e5JN/view?usp=sharing

  • Sharing an album from the desktop app is not possible (In a shape of widget .) . Assuming I want to share an album here in the forum I can do it only from deezer.com . When trying to share from the desktop app I get the following :

But when I share from deezer.com I get the following which can be shared on the forum ( It appears as widget automatically

Hey guys. Sorry if I will ask something existent but it’s hard to choose the right keywords for a search of the issue.

Deezer for mac, Version 5.10.0 (5.10.0.41)

It happens quite often for me. When I open some artist in the evening and after the night I’m trying to play the first song from “Top tracks” it starts playing the third one for example.

On top of my head, I understand that during the night popularity could be changed, but the list is not updated (I guess there is some SSE technology, at least for fetching notifications, but seems like it’s not for other elements of the app). Or it is kind of a problem of “using array indexes as keys for React elements” if you know what I mean :) Maybe it’s better to use song id instead of the index of the element? :) But unfortunately, I can’t reset it even if I try to open another artist and then return back to the previous one. It requires to restart the application to reset the order of the “Top tracks” list.

That’s all. Thank you!

Anyone else having issue that moving window crashes the app? This is in windows 10, app version 5.20.0. Tried reinstalling but that didn’t help

I’m getting this crash on moving too.

Both in this and the previous versions, the app also intermittently crashes during play, just when on the background. Once a day or so. Small nuisance, although I do lose the current play queue.

Thanks for adding to this discussion @Renne what do you mean about losing the playing queue?

Does this happen on any playback or is it specific to playing albums, playlists, Flow, … ?

I only meant that in the context of the desktop player crash. I often add songs/albums to the play queue bit by bit as I go along listening - and all that gets lost when the player goes and crashes. When I relaunch the player, the play queue is the standard default selection of some current tracks.
