Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Bugs/Issues/Workarounds

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

  • weird navigation backstack history.
  • navigating back sometimes does not go back to previous page, just scrolls in the same page.

Got this too + app still randomly crashes. I had hope that 5.0 will fix that but no. :/

I think Deezer have to do a big rebuild of this app on Windows.

Windows app spoils the enjoyment of listening to music. I’m tired and I don’t believe You can fix it.

I’ll go Tidal next month.

Guys, with recent updates you broke Mac app :( Now I cannot:

  • keep the app in bg (whenever I click “close”, the app quits);
  • click toolbar icon to play/pause - clicking it now brings the app into foreground.

Now I have to Cmd-H to hide the window… Overall, app usage became very frustrating overall. I might not list all the cases, but please get it back :D

Deezer keeps recommending tracks even though I have already added them to my exclusions. This happens across all devices and platforms.

Hi there. I can’t work out how to have Deezer 5.10.0 ‘Launch on Startup’ on my new Windows 10 machine (Dell, running Windows 10 Pro; version 21H1, OS build 19043.985; Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0).
I’ve flicked the toggle on the app countless times
I tried to add it to the startup in Windows using the settings or even dragging a shortcut into the folder in Appdata but I can’t find a Deezer executable anywhere on the machine. Even though I’m listening to it as I type. Makes no sense to me.

A side-bar of the above is that I can’t put a shortcut to the app on my desktop, due not being able to find the damn executable.

The other annoyance is that I have Deezer pinned to the Taskbar (and the Start menu, but not on Start-up) but every now and then - at least once a day - it crashes and vanishes from the taskbar.
Often this is when I minimise, but also when I drag the app from screen 2 to screen 1, which involves crossing the taskbar as screen 2 is above screen 1.

A last point - this thread has 315 replies, but no way to do a text search in case an issue is already handled. A proper forum layout would make it more user-friendly for the customers.

I have recently switched over to Deezer HIFI  and have noticed that I now get dropouts on a regular basis every 20 mins to 30 mins of streaming. I did not have this problem on the 320kbs service. I appreciate that the flac service requires more bandwidth to stream in high quality. I have a Virgin Media cable service (100 mbps)  I have contacted VM and they have confirmed that there is nothing wrong with my service . There is no one else in the house using the internet when this happens.

Just to confirm this I have switched back to the 320kbs and have had no dropouts for over 2 hours of streaming. I only use the desktop  app when the above happens.

Has any one else experienced this problem.

Kind regards coypu.

Further to my note of a few hours ago, having rebooted since the last re-install of Deezer app, I have just managed to create a shortcut on the desktop.
Did it by dragging the Deezer tile in the Start menu up the menu and onto the desktop. Which means I now have added it to the startup folder as well.
And it launched on start-up.

Job’s a good ‘un!

Why it’s done it today and not before, I can only attribute to having posted in this forum!

Hey @neechee

Thanks for the feedback. We're fixing the navigation controls, don't worry!

I've forwarded your comments.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us @Hockney are you on 5.20? That could be the reason!

Hey @corny the button is getting fixed soon, I've been following the progress of it internally - all good.

Our version 5 and above is much better to get things sorted.

Hi @coypu nice to hear from you again! Could you please confirm the version? Perhaps all you need is a fresh install. Removing the app and the Deezer folder from appdata and then restarting your computer before installing 5.20. I've got HiFi playing fine on my side - so it could also be a problem with the tracks. Give me more info if you can and we'll get to the bottom of it!

@AndréZijlmans you need to update it, that's the old version.

@GeezerGuy that shouldn't be an issue of the desktop app itself - but a problem with our recommendations. I'll forward your feedback and I'll request for your user-cache to be cleared to see if it helps.

@Sławek Romecki that's not very constructive, you didn't give us any details to see what's affecting you - sorry you feel that way!

@JohnyV3 try a fresh install, please. And don't forget to restart your Windows before downloading and installing the latest version. This one is much more stable!

Hi Rudi,

Thanks for your comments Re: dropouts on hifi streaming. I have the app on my phone, but use the desktop app on my PC 99.9% of the time through my DAC/HIFI system when listening to Deezer. It’s under these listening conditions that I have experienced the dropouts using Chromium and Vivaldi browsers. The dropouts only last for about 10/15 secs then normal service resumes.

Where on the desktop app do I find out which version I’m using?

All the best

coypu.

It could be because we don't fully support the browsers @coypu but there's light at the end of the tunnel, it's on our radar.

To check for the version, have a look at the top left, Deezer, and About :relaxed:
