I Found a bug when I log into “creators for deezer” they erroneously ask me for my “artist upc” there i no such thing. I have an isrc code, and I have upc codes for all my releases, no one has ever in 25 years ever asked me for an artist UPC and I’m afraid I may have the wrong website or that the interface is broken, where do they mean by “artist universal product code” doesn’t even make sense, where would I find this on distrokid? lol they should fix this i’m already pretty agitated

Hi @Espen Skaar, thank you for your message.
To obtain the UPC code, you will need to directly contact your label or distributor.

Ok great thanks, but I am the label and distributor, I use distrokid to do this? I don’t know why this is so difficult for me I’ve done this for several other platforms - never a problem and none of them asked for an artist upc, Deezer is on the only one?

I’ll be honest Leonida, there are a lot of other people that are having a hard time setting up their artist profiles on Deezer, when we have finish this conversation I believe you will see why they are having a hard time signing up, and I think you are losing serious creative content and artists because of it. I have focused my efforts on Spotify but I do want to help your team out to point out the obvious error in your form of asking for the “artist upc” which does not exist when I ask distrokid they said “your release upc shows up next to your releases in the “music section” - in other words there is no such thing.

Bear in mind i have setup artist profiles on 9 other platforms, never had a problem - now myself and about 800,000 who use Distrokid (which you will soon find in your data) are also having this problem. I recommend we figure this out for the sake of Deezer.

surely no one would be expected to be going back and forth with distrokid as they tell me they do not have the info, and I keep asking them - to get access to my Deezer Creator Login? This is silly to even expect people to file tickets and BOTHER DISTROKID, please escalate this matter to your supervisors. I am also getting distrokids team directly involved now.

here is evidence of everything I am saying, which will probably raise MAJOR ALARMS in your corporate office right now, knowing that you are putting up un necessary roadblocks for your users to gain access to their creator profiles. wow, right?

once again there is NO SUCH THING AS AN ARTIST UPC CODE, ascap and bmi can confirm this, so can musicexchange.com -

look i just want to get profiles setup on here so I can add artwork, that’s it, it shouldn’t be this difficult in my opinion. but this is a major problem not for me, for you, DEEZER

ikely turning away hundreds of thousands of people that simply “dont want to bother” with contactin corporate offices of companies asking for an “artist upc” when it doesn’t exist

I’ll have a follow-up on Monday morning when DistroKid team gets back to me, not going to give up until this is solved - not just for me for everyone LIKE ME who is likely NOT SETTING UP A CREATOR profile because of these difficulties never seen on other major platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon and more - none of them ask for this “artist upc” and why do you think that is?

Hi @Espen Skaar I’ll provide the UPC of one of your albums which is 734167699394
Could you please try to claim your profile and use that UPC on D4C page and let me know if that works? (sometimes when it doesn’t work you need to add a 0 (zero) first.
Apologies for all the inconvenience

it worked thank you so much Jaime, apologies for all the negativity, and thanks and sorry Leonidia

I am glad it worked :)
If you have any further questions please let us know

I have exactly the same problem, my digital distributor (ArFolk) doesn’t use UPC codes, and I can’t complete the artist claim process. My album is already on Deezer (617880701), my artist acount also (274279611), both created by my digital distributor. Is still someone from Deezer here, and could give me magicaly my UPC code, like for Espen Skaar ?… (and/or share the way to fix it...)

Il semble que grâce à ce site on puisse retrouver le n°UPC à partir du lien vers la musique en ligne : https://musicfetch.io/upc-finder
