I like the track mix feature when I want to play music with the same ‘feel’.

After a while however it starts repeating tracks that were played in the same session. Today it even played a track twice in a row. I would like if tracks weren't repeated too quickly or, if possible, not at all in one session. This goes for recommended and flow too.

Track mixes are still repeating tracks far too often

Could you please share some examples in order to pass the feedback to our developers?
Thanks for your help and apologies for the inconvenience

Thanks for the info @AlexWayfer

Even repetitive. It just stops.

Hi @AlexWayfer thanks for reporting this issue and sorry that no answer was provided before.

This issue was reported already last year and seems that still persists as I tested some songs shared and indeed it keeps creating the same recommendations.

Nevertheless, some tracks seem to have changed their behaviour when you try to launch a track mix.

This track https://www.deezer.com/en/track/2321622355 doesn’t have recommendations now.

The explanation why this is happening is because the song launched on the track mix does have recommendations linked or have a few ones, which makes the queue repeat the same songs over and over.

I asked the team if there is anything we can do to improve the UX in these cases, like for example, remove the option to launch a track mix, or have a button to report a track that doesn’t have a proper number of tracks to recommend.

@Leonídia.Deezer thank you for the information.

I’d like if Deezer will move into fixing (improving) recommendations (track mix), when possible, instead of disabling this feature for (not a few) difficult cases.

Sorry if something, but I’m comparing with Spotify, and this service can build radio based on this track: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1E8MvYqJJgiNRm

So, I believe, Deezer can too.

Hi @AlexWayfer thanks.

Feedback has been shared with the Recommendation team.

When I have some news, I will come back to you.

As stated in the title, sometimes with certain songs from small artists, attempting to launch a song mix will launch a playlist with just that single song in it. Particularly, I encounter this with Cherry Blossom by Ottom.

Expected behaviour: I launch a song mix which creates a playlist with songs similar to the target song

Actual behaviour: A playlist consisting of just the target song is created

Devices: any(?), tested on desktop, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Google Pixel 7 Pro

Copy of old thread that I accidentally closed, the issue is still present 4 months later

That’s definitely frustrating, especially with such a long-standing issue! Have you tried clearing the app cache or ensuring everything is updated? It seems like tracks from smaller artists, like Cherry Blossom by Ottom, might not have enough metadata for proper song mixes.

I'll choose to ignore the first half of your comment…

Indeed, this seems to be the issue, which I find odd. All tracks should have at least the bare minimum to be able to form a mix, like genre, playlist presence, other songs fans of this one listened to, etc. At the very least play me different tracks from the same artist, which it still doesn't do.

Hello @antikovt @AndrewRobert thanks for your messages.

I have moved your question to here, where this is being discussed.

Recent feedback was shared with our Recommendation and Product team to see what can be done to improve the experience when we don’t have enough metadata to purpose a better Track Mix.
