Closing app music keeps playing in the background

I have a workaround that works for my Samsung, although I'm annoyed that I have to use a workaround.

I locate the app icon on the phone and long-press it. Doing so displays a few menu items; one of which is an "i" with a circle arount it (for "info"). Tap the "i" to bring up the Deezer apps settings. Scroll down to the bottom and choose "Force Stop."

So to summarize more briefly:

Long-press app icon > tap "i" > choose Force Stop from bottom. 

That brute-force stops the app from running in memory/behind-the-scenes until you next use it, as I understand. It might give a warning that force-stop could cause app issues. I haven't experienced any dire ones yet. :) 

almost 2025 now... and this pain still present. My sub is ending soon, I think we move to better apps. Tidal is nice, works as expected, can integrate in home assistant. And -suprise- I can swipe close as I want.

I was here 4-5 years, got some lists, had some fun... but deezer clearly don't care about the community.

Literally every other music app stops playing when you close the app so this is highly unexpected and annoying behavior. I shouldn't have to pause first.

You are talking about having your music continue when you ~minimize~ the app. That is standard for most paid/streaming services. We are talking about ~exiting~ the app completely, shutting it down and it still playing music in the background, which among other things, interferes with being able to hear phone calls. That would be like playing a game on your phone, exiting completely and having the game sounds and music not stopping unless you turn your sound off or restart your phone every time.

Every other streaming service/app, the music stops when you quit the program. There's a reason why that is the default and I'm not sure I have ever seen a setting across apps that would allow otherwise. If I minimize the app, then I want it to continue the music. If I exit the app, then the music needs to STOP, for all the common sense reasons. 

This is very helpful. I'm leaving Spotify so I was looking for a new streaming service and found Deezer a few days ago. I only installed the app today, after using the website and I will be deleting my account and uninstalling Deezer because of this issue. I'm disabled with arthritis so my hands do not work very well - I need to swipe the app and have it close like ~every~ other app I have ~ever~ had. So I'm going to look out for Tidal.

I don't mind paying for my streaming services, and I had Spotify Premium for 3 or 4 years. When I saw how many reviews Deezer had, and discovered that I could port all of my music and playlists over, I started the process. I installed the app to see if it was usable for me. I'll test things for a few weeks before subscribing or paying for Premium, which I was hoping to do.

Glad I did because there's no way I'm paying for an app that's written to supercede the user's choices and whose Devs have apparently been hearing complaints about this for 7 years now and refuse to do anything about it. They clearly don't care about their client base. Any streaming services, (music, movies, news, etc), that I have ever had all stop when I exit the app, however I choose to do it.

Swiping the app closed does not close it properly.

Turning off Bluetooth doesn't help either unless left for a decent period of time.

Close app, Bluetooth off, Bluetooth on and still playing

Closed app, Bluetooth off, wait an hour or so. Deezer is now stopped. Mad.
