Question

No notifications for new releases

A few days ago I’ve reinstated my Deezer subscription and noticed that it seems like the notifications for my account seem to be stuck - all new release notifications have a “more than a year ago” time stamp and seems like they are irrelevant (notifications for Hozier releases even though I don’t even follow this artist and have a single track in the favorite tracks).

Since I’ve reinstated my account and started actively using your platform again there were a few fresh releases from the artists I follow and listened to actively - no updates in the notification center still.

To avoid classical troubleshooting steps:

  • I’ve observed the same behavior on web, desktop and iOS apps;
  • I’ve tried reinstalling (obviously) and clearing the caches and whatnot;
  • I’ve reviewed the notification preferences and push notifications are enabled;

What I expect:

  • To be notified of new releases of the artists I follow.

I’ve seen some similar threads where Deezer staff said that they “cleared the cache for the account” on the end of your system and that seemed to do the trick, hoping the same could be done in my case.

On a side note - anyone know of some online tools or scripts that could pull release history based on Deezer follows? Similar tools exist for Spotify, since Deezer has an open API I was hoping someone came out with a purpose-made tool instead of relying on silly algorithms.

Hi, please keep in mind that you may receive a notification about a new release when:

  • Deezer identifies you as a fan of the artist based on your listening habits
  • The artist is among your top 15 most-listened-to artists
  • You have added the artist, one of their albums, or one of their tracks to your Favorites

I have cleared the cache for the account now.
Please let me know if that helps.

Thanks :)

Hi, thanks for the reply, good to know how it works.

But honestly this logic is a bit overcomplicated, unreliable and confusing. If you guys have some kind of feedback tracker for features you can count my negative one in :D
