 Hi !

I wonder if u guys could add an option so Deezer can create a playlist for you made of “random” songs (discover new good songs), and not just based on your listening history, followed artist…, i mean like:

  • Songs from foreign countries/cultures
  • Songs from popular or unpopular artists
  • Popular or unpopular songs
  • Songs that are uploaded in different decades (90s ,80s ,classic… songs)
  • short songs, long songs…

How it should work (how i imagine it working) ?

-User have the option to choose completely randomized playlist or to use filter nsongs language(Arabic, French, English…),songs popularity range(0-1000 listeners…),artists popularity, songs upload time, songs length…] and like all the songs that fit the filter will be mixed in a playlist of 100 or whatever number.

 How it really works ?

-I know our beloved devs will figure a way even tho its super hard

Is it really worth it ?

-Maybe

Why just not use flow ?

-Flow sucks at finding new music :

  1. It relies on user old activity
  2. It doesn't always gives new song
  3. It relies on your country (also why i cant change my country)

--Best wishes

Some random guy

Hello @Omar Labiade

Thanks for your comments!

Your idea sounds great, specially the option of

  • Songs from foreign countries/cultures
  • Songs from popular or unpopular artists

We will pass your idea to our Deezer developers and we hope it can be available in the next updates of the Deezer app,

Thanks once again!

Enjoy Deezer! :flashlight:

Yeah, one thing many music services actually struggle with is expanding the user’s music tastes. You can work around it - e.g. by finding and listening playlists of the genres you’d like to discover. Or by feeding the algorithm what I call “anchors” - songs that you enjoy from the genres that aren’t your favorites. Basically, the edges of your music taste. A couple of favorite techno tracks, if you normally don’t listen to techno, a couple of folk tracks if you rarely listen to folk music. And then the algorithm works with it. But I’d still want the service to offer something really new.

Maybe what could work is a discovery playlist that represents different genres and countries, excluding the songs you told to exclude from recommendations, but otherwise not driven by your preferences.

This was exactly main issue FLOW. Same known music all week long.

I have changed provider and now I listen so much new music, my playlists are getting bigger and bigger. I can create from one list similar list to discover more. Web shows below list suggestions which you can refresh. Weekly release radar BIG LIST. Bell actually works… I don’t know, but yes!!

At least there are no more 2K on my lists, I think they are 10K and liked tracks UNLIMITED.

I like so much music, just to make a note on them, so I’d think Deezer’s 10K wouldn’t do. That was only solution from 2K for few another year. Then we music lovers would be again stuck.

I found service with Unlimited hearts and that’s good for the music lovers!

I live for the hard dance music. Exclusively.

I think the OP has a very different issue. You’re interested in a specific genre, and music discovery in a specific genre is something that Deezer does really well. Maybe not for every genre - e.g. not for hard dance - but it does wonders for me in all the genres I listen to. Daily mixes in particular are a wonderful source of new music grouped by genre. (While Flow isn’t presented as the primary source of music discovery anyway, so I don’t know why you expect it from Flow)

But when it comes to the genres you haven’t even heard, most services don’t offer you a good “sampler”.  And trying to rely on your old activity is useless or even detrimental. So many people just walk in circles guided by algorithms.

I think an absolutely random version of Flow would be super.

And it should be quite easy to make. I don’t want to keep listening to the music I like and I already know. Also, I created a huge playlist with lots of varied music of all kind from all places and all time in the hope that Deezer would suggest more tracks based on this playlist.

Alas, there appears to be no such option...
