As @Gaffer13 has mentioned, that could be normal as we need to verify your identity. Once you have done it, everything will be fine and you will not be asked to do it again in the near future, unless you delete cookies/change browser, etc.

Hi, I m on windows 10 and am having the asme problem, I see there are forums about this problem that date back to two years ago where the response from deezer was that they are working on it, alas every time I turn my computer on I have to sign in AGAIN. on mobile I DO NOT have this problem, what is going on deezer? do I have to call in and make a huge problem out of this by insisting to talk to every manager's manager until I get to the CEO? two years, and still nothing...

As far as i know the login process for desktop app also is done in the background using web interface login. For that i suppose saved webbrowser data is used. So it’s just an idea, but could it be your browser settings are set to clear the cache each time the browser is closed?

If not also try logging in on webpage / desktop app and select the „save password“ option.

I have the same problem and it’s annoying as hell. Almost makes me want to return to Spotify where I never ever had this type of issue. Once I was logged into my account, it didn’t matter if I was using an AndroidTV box on my primary TV, my phone, and/or my computer, once I was logged in, I was never ever asked for my password.

On Deezer, sometimes it happens multiple times per day, usually when switching playback devices, and other times just several times/week. I’m not using it all the time, but when it takes 2-3 minutes to look up my password  (in my PW manager) and enter it into the device (because yes I use good security and different secure passwords for every account) it’s an impediment and not the enjoyable experience I should be having. And now I realize this has been going on for years?? You’re not gonna win against your competition who makes it easy and doesn’t require repeated logins. 

In the IT industry we call this user-vicious.

The automatic log outs are one of the most annoying things about Deezer, and have been for years. Just yesterday, I was listening to music on my Windows computer. I paused it in the middle of a song. Today, I un-paused the song. It played the song until the end, then instead of playing the next song in my Flow, it asked me to log in again.

At least, the Windows App authentication is now integrated with the browser, so you just open a page in the browser, click a bit, and you are logged back in. In the past it this was even more annoying.

But, in any case, this shouldn’t happen. There is no good reason for this to happen. I’m currently on version 6.0.220 on my PC. There is an update in the Microsoft Store, but I didn’t install it yet. I’m guessing, when you released that version, you changed something on your servers as well, and invalidated our existing logins. If that’s the case, please find a way to not do this in the future.

And OK, on PC at least this is somewhat bearable. But this issue is why I didn’t use Deezer on my Android phone for months, and instead I used a competing music app which I won’t mention by name.

What happens, is that usually use Deezer on my Android phone only from Android Auto. Basically, I plug my phone to the USB port in the car, and I start driving. Then, in case of Deezer, I notice the music just doesn’t play, because I am logged out.

The problem is there is no way to just push some button on the Android Auto UI and make it log back in. If I don’t want to drive without music for the rest of the trip, I would have to stop the car, open Deezer on my phone, and log back in, then continue driving. Needless to say, that’s not acceptable.

But you know what’s much easier to do in this situation? I just switch to the other music app, with two-three taps, while driving, and not use Deezer for that trip.

After this happened multiple times in the last year, I just gave up on using Deezer in my car, and now I’m using the other app, which before I used just as backup for situation when Deezer wouldn’t work at all. I don’t like the music selection from the other app that much, but it just works, and it never logs me out.

To conclude, either stop logging us out for no reason on our computers or phones, or provide easy ways to log back in with a few taps, even from the Android Auto UI. Ideally, even if you expire our session, you should log us back in automatically, without any intervention whatsoever.

I know that for security purposes, in certain intervals of time, Deezer logs out to make sure accounts are being used by owners.

What would be the frequency this happens to you on your Android device and on your desktop app?

What are the actual versions that you have installed on Desktop and Android device?

Do you use any VPN, or software that could interfere with the application?

Hi ​@vladnc just want to let you know that regarding the Desktop app, to reduce the number of automatic logouts, our teams said that users must keep installing the most recent versions.

For the Android Auto, that it is a mirror of the mobile application, our team confirmed me that about 2 months ago, an improvement was introduced to reduce the automatic logouts.

But again here, the recommendation is the same. User must keep the mobile update.

Please let us know if that improves the UX while using the Deezer app on your PC and car.

Hello, thanks for the response, it seems to be happening about every couple of weeks on each device. On my Android mobile phone I only use Deezer with Android Auto, so I usually notice I am logged out after I begin driving, when the music doesn’t start. I decided to give Deezer one more chance with Android Auto 9 days ago, but I had issues again. Deezer refused to play music from within Android Auto. This is the error:

Usually, to fix that I would have to stop the car, open the app on the phone, and log in again. However it’s much easier to switch to a competitor’s music app using voice commands, while still driving, so that’s what I did instead. Since then, I have been using again that competitor’s music app while driving. And as far as I remember I didn’t use Deezer on my Android phone since then.

BTW, keeping the apps updated was almost certainly not the issue on my Android phone, as I have automatic updates enabled. On the desktop it could have been related to updates, as I sometimes leave the app open for extended periods, which seems to prevent app updates, but talking to support I understood that being logged out periodically, every 2 weeks or so, is intentional, and it’s not necessarily related to app updates.

Yesterday, when I began replying here, I checked the version again. I was on version Deezer 8.0.26.4 on my Android phone, which seems to be the most recent version. Without opening it on the phone, I went to my car, to see if it works without issues. I wasn’t expected that, but this time it worked perfectly from the first attempt without asking me to login again, although, as far as I remember, I didn’t login in the App on the phone for weeks, possibly since last month. So I think you might be right about the most recent versions fixing some of the issues with Android Auto. I’ll keep using it and report here if I have any more issues.

On Desktop, I was on version 6.0.260.0. I just opened it now, after not using it for a few days, and it’s asking me to log in again. Honestly, I don’t understand what security this provides. It just opens my browser, where it finds the saved session, then it sends me back to the app. Why have the login information saved persistently in the web browser, but not the application itself? It doesn’t make any sense to me. From support, I understand it’s some kind of licensing issue that forces you to log me out periodically from the apps. But since the authentication is saved in the web browser anyway, and that doesn’t seem to expire, or at least not as frequently, I fail to see how this has any effect other than annoy the users.

I just checked for updates manually on my desktop now, and it seems there is another version for the desktop. Of course, now that the app is open, when I try to update I get this error: “The app can't update when it's open.”. Not sure if there anything you can do to prevent this, or at least give some notification in the app that an update is available. After closing the app and installing the update I’m now on version 6.0.270.0, and after opening the app again it didn’t ask me to login again, which shows this issue is not actually related to updates.

Regarding VPNs or other similar software, no, I don’t use any to access the Internet, it’s just a regular Internet connection.

Glad to hear that with the recent update on Android, the experience on Android Auto has improved.

In the latest update 8.0.27 we have introduced additional improvements, with a highlight for the search feature.

Regarding the experience on Desktop, I also experience here and there a logout, but because I am constantly switching accounts due to my work, I don’t notice this, but I will keep an eye on the behaviour after the recent updates on the app.

Anyway, as said above, I shared your post with our developers, highlighted a couple of sentences and if something new comes up, I will come back to you.

As for the Windows desktop app, I just opened the app now, and I got the login page. It has been 15 days since my previous login.

On the other hand, when I opened Deezer in the web browser, I got the option to play music immediately, without any login. Basically, at this point the Windows app is worse than just using the browser from this point of view.

Which got me thinking, I could probably just install the web site as an app, using the browser feature and get a better experience:

I just did that from Microsoft Edge (a similar option is available in Google Chrome since they share most of their code), and so far it looks good, even the option to start it automatically with Windows is available. And I also get the option to cast the music, which the Windows desktop app didn't seem to have.

The only slightly annoying thing is that this message shows up from time to time:

But it doesn't seem to affect anything, the music plays just fine, despite the warning, which is inaccurate, as I am never offline.

I know it is not ideal ​@vladnc but I am glad you found a workaround for the problem in the meantime.
