42% subscription increase !

Userlevel 1

I have just received email that you are increasing family subscription from approx € 11 to €17.99.

I am willing to increase, but definitely not for 42%. That is, after so many yeas (since 2015) quite “cheap shot”.

Sincerely

Actually, it is even worse, sorry for my miscalculation. This is an approximately 60% increase.

And no, that's not what I'm paying for.You got YouTube premium, Spotify. And even though they're going up, they're kind of better:-) I just kept Deezer because of the loyalty. You showed me what a fool I am! :-)

Tu m'as montré quel idiot je suis ! :-)

Few months ago @Jaime., the community manager, wrote existing customers can continue to pay their lower subscription price but they won’t get HiFi quality.

Is it mean Deezer employee lied to us? I don't wanna better quality of sound. I need to great desktop app, perfect alexa integration, local content (including playlists and popular podcasts).

Why should I stay with you? You've changed nothing important to me but price. It's a gift for 6+ years of loyalty.

Hi @ondrej.mensik

That is true, Deezer implemented some price changes across all markets and details can be found here.

Price revisions or increases are not happening only at Deezer you can read related moves by other players here and here. There are reasons to each decision and not always that they may sound appealing to all users.

I would like to believe that at the end of the day it is a response to market forces, improvement of services offered and sustainability of the platforms.

@jirikovoego @Roman Janko: I understand the frustration, however I think moving between platforms is a short-term solution since it’s not a matter of if they will increase the price but when.

I may not fully agree with all price increases - but that’s what’s happening across the streaming market - music or video.

Hi @FriskyProdigy, I understand about increase price, but in this times are many people very sensitive about it. If deezer change price from 5.99 to 10.99 it's too much.

Second problem is we're frustrating with Deezer for long time. Bad desktop app (close instead minimaze to try is fixing for years), local content is gone, etc… The latest price change is something like last shot.

There's no light at the end, so why should we stay?

Thanks for the explanation. As I already mentioned Deezer does not have any additional value to me, except loyalty. Spotify has plenty of extra features, e.g. playing on different devices, YouTube (music) can also play videos. I'm sure I can handle an increase in membership for those two instead of Deezer.

Hey @jirikovoego

We are always sorry to see someone leave, but maybe another service will better suit your needs. If things change where you land, maybe we will have the chance to see you at deezer again. It’s just a music service, not a major life decision; you should do what’s best for you.

Cheers

Is this supposed to be an answer from someone who is happy for long-term paying customers?

Appetite grows with food (= With more customers, more profits are needed)

Yes, it is.

I’ve seen this cycle before as changes have been made over the last year. The decision regarding the price structure and the implementation of HiFi has been made by deezer, nothing you or I do is going to change that.

You wrote that the deezer price change is too much, you are already frustrated, and this is the last straw.

If you’re not satisfied here, I think you should try another service. Maybe, as I wrote, if you’re not happy with your new service, you will return to deezer.

Best of luck.

Well, Deezer -was- kind of personal for me. Not as for you, just one kind of music services. (Isn´t it your job saying good things about Deezer? ) Trusting me I know them all. But with this decision of instant 60% increase just because of Deezer have made it without any excuse - that was very disappointing. As if the friend betrays you. I am managing moving my family to Spotify and I am willing to pay what they ask for.

Hey @ondrej.mensik

I don’t work for deezer, so no, it’s not my job to do anything. I’m a subscriber just like you.

You began this thread by saying deezer cheap shotted you, called yourself a fool, and said you were likely leaving. You made it clear you were unhappy and didn’t see a reason to stay.

I told you that we were always sorry to see someone leave, but that based on what you had said, perhaps another service would better meet your needs. I wished you the best, and also said that I hope that you might be back.

I’m not sure what response you expected. This seems like a lot. Enjoy Spotify.

I'm sorry to label you as someone who works for Deezer I wrongly concluded according to your profile, you are Deezer Legend with many answers.
What I had expected?
1) reducing the family subscription by up to €14.99.

2) apology from deezer - not just saying "we are adding you HiFi" for additionl €8 and you are going to pay us next time!"
3) share my experience and frustration - I have explained why I still - used - deezer even if other services are also great!

I suppose, except n. 3 nothing would happen.
And as a final post - Let me also wish Deezer good luck with legendary users like you - and most likely with new users paying €18!
