But all labels take their share. In return they get the artist promoted, they arrange the whole setting to allow the artist to perform and record their content.

I guess that supporting the independent labels, for instance, make for a fairer music industry 

I like the idea of supporting little artists and labels.

The problem is, at Deezer main page, I see too much of chart music.

I hope you will bring personal recommendations and a lot more than it is now.

I don’t know any better support than showing users albums, artists or songs they might like based on what they listen and a lot more than now. I mean a lot more. This is time for things.

I listen only underground hard dance and rap music on Deezer Premium!

Deezer is aligned with that too, we want to make our homepage more personalised, so we're starting a project with Audiobooks first.

It's kind of sad that that's how it works. Streaming should be more fair to all artists. Thank you to the Deezer team to take such steps to change.

Does Deezer actually use a User-Centric Payment System?

Hey @Rudi Any news on this? I did see https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2021/05/06/ecsa-streaming-demands/ and thought I saw news of another streaming service changing to UCPS, but can't remember which one.

Yes, we have our UCPS system ready but we need the labels and distributors to be in agreement with that for it to launch.

Because of the pandemic, we've delayed some parts of the project but we're very soon to revamping the initiative - keep an eye on the website, it'll get updated and with that we'll hope to push our model into reality, at least in one country to start with

@Rudi - Isn't this calculator incorrect?

It states that my 1290 streams in September resulted in 99% of my subscription going to artists I didn't listen to. 

Example:

There are 3 million subscribers in September paying $10. 

The total pot is $10 * 3,000,000 = $30,000,000

They each stream 1200 times in a month, for a total of 3.6 billion streams. 

User A streaming 1290 times in the same month, means they have (1290 / 3,600,000,000) of the total streams. 

The payout for those 1000 streams will be (1290 / 3,600,000,000) * $30,000,000 = $10.75

The percentage of their subscription going to their artists ($10.75/$10) * 100 = 107.5%

In order for https://www.deezer.com/us/ucps/me to be correct, the average Deezer subscriber would have listened to 129,000 streams in September. At an average of 3 minutes per song, that would require 6450 hours of monthly listening, or 215 hours per day, which is obviously impossible.
