Deezer HiFi goes up to 24-bit/192 kHz!

Related products:AndroidFeaturesiOSMobile appsPlaylistsDesktop/WebMusic

Great news for music lovers! Deezer HiFi now supports lossless high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz, bringing more detail, depth and clarity to your listening experience.

The best part? It's included in eligible paid Deezer plans at no extra cost. No separate Hi-Res subscription needed!

What's new?

Until now, Deezer HiFi offered lossless audio at CD quality (16-bit/44.1 kHz). With this upgrade, compatible tracks can now reach 24-bit/192 kHz.

Think of it like a high-resolution photo: more information can mean finer details. In music, this helps preserve the nuances of the original recording, from vocals and instruments to the dynamics of a performance.

What does “up to 24-bit/192 kHz” mean?

It means Deezer can support lossless high-resolution FLAC recordings at resolutions of up to 24-bit/192 kHz.

The exact resolution depends on the title and the available source master. When a high-resolution version is available, Deezer automatically prioritises the highest-quality version within the existing HiFi experience.

How do I activate it?

Simply select HiFi in your audio-quality settings. Deezer automatically prioritises the highest available quality for each track.

  • Mobile: Go to Profile → Settings → Music or Audio preferences → HiFi.

  • Desktop: Open the audio settings in the player and select HiFi.

A few things to know

  • High-resolution availability
24-bit/192 kHz is available on compatible tracks, with the quality depending on the original recording and master.

  • Will you hear the difference?
You might notice more detail and clarity, especially with compatible headphones or audio equipment. Your setup and listening environment also play a part.

  • Do I need new equipment?
Not necessarily! HiFi works on supported devices, although compatible audio equipment can help you get the most out of high-resolution sound.

  • What about data usage?
Lossless and high-resolution audio can use more data and storage, so Wi-Fi is recommended.

Awesome, I just got my membership today to Deezer because of the new 24-bit/192 kHz service. How does Deezer Android App handles to bypass Android Audio Stack limitation (AudioFlinger and Android HAL)?

Does Deezer App provides a USB Exclusive Access option?

Do we still need to rely on UAPP/Addon or Wavelet + Lemuroid Driver to get around Android Audio Stack limitation?

Que yo sepa, la aplicación actualmente no tiene acceso exclusivo. En un iPhone, no hay problema, ya que iOS no impone esa limitación; sin embargo, en Android —que yo sepa— la limitación a nivel de sistema sigue vigente.

As an early adopter of high res, I wish Deezer stuck to the no-bull approach of CD quality. High res has not proven to be this great leap.

Please keep the CD quality versions along with any high res albums. The choice will satisfy all.

What about recievers with Deezer apps? My Yamaha reciever will automatically get high-res tracks or it will need a firmware update for it? There is no quality settings at Yamaha Deezer app but it automatically plays cd quality flacs

This is great! Is it available in all countries? Is there like a list of songs that are HI RES?

I recently switched to Deezer and I'm happy to see it making strides in the competition with other streaming services!

One question, will the Windows/Android app support direct control of the audio hardware and bypass the operating system's internal mixer for bit-perfect playback? Is this something in the pipeline?

I’m sure it will sound great via headphones and in the car. But how does it affect playback via the Sonos app and Sonos components, which is how I hear most of my Deezer content? And, as others have asked, is there a way to identify which tracks go up to 24-bit/192 kHz, in the Deezer app and the Sonos app?

Please share the identity of a single 192kHz/24-bit track that you have found on Deezer. Thanks.
