There was a time when the spacebar toggled play/pause. There doesn't seem to be a way to set your keyboard shortcuts in any preferences/settings. This should be an easy fix if this has not been implemented or was broken in one of the newer versions.

Yes @bremg

But thanks to community reports, it has been fixed  it'll be added to the next release of the desktop app!

@Yula here is the video:

After each Alt+Tab you have to click on app to get it focused and then space bar starts to work properly. If you Alt+Tab without clicking on app it doesn’t work. Windows 20H2 (Build 19042.928) Deezer 4.34.0

On web version this is also broken. tested on 2 devices, simply doesn’t work.

Thank you everyone, this has been reported!

Can you fix this issue please??

I can alt-tab to Tidal and Spotify, and then press Spacebar to Play/Pause, but on Deezer I cannot.

This makes the app unusable for me. Will be uninstalling.

Deezer Version 5.20.0 on Windows 10. Pile of rubbish.

Hi,

On both Windows 10 and 11 after alt-tabbing to the Deezer window pressing space to play/pause still doesn’t work. It only works if you click the window at first which kind of defeats the point. And like said above it does work with Spotify… Please fix this!

Hey there, can you please reinstall the app from here>

https://www.deezer.com/desktop/download/artifact/darwin/x64/5.30.160

I can’t reproduce the issue!

First of all, I’m talking about windows, and you sent me a dmg file (im guessing its a mcOS thingy)

Secondly, let me describe my problem and what I’ve done so far.

I’ve had this problem since the beginning, windows 10 and 11 the same way, when I alt+tab out and back, the space bar doesn’t pause the music anymore. I have to manually click inside the app, then the space works. I’ve just reinstalled the app (from the microsoft store, coz it seems on available anywhere else, real shame) and I have the same problem.

Once deezer gets out of focus, space doesn’t work anymore, you have to manually click *inside* of the app, title bar doesn’t work, nor alt tabbing back.

If you could send this info to the dev team, that would be nice.

Thanks

Sorry, you are right, this is the right link: https://www.deezer.com/desktop/download/artifact/win32/x86/5.30.160

When I use the desktop app on my windows pc, I just need to open it and press the space bar to stop or play a song. It works perfectly on my side.

I tried the one you sent me, I experience the same issue. May be windows issue, I don’t know at this point.

Hi there @JustinL

Can you reinstall the app? It should work as we have this enabled.

I'm also experiencing this problem, I guess the problem applies to all Windows 10/11 users. Very curious if this ever gets resolved since it's been 5 years now.

Same issue here. If you do not click inside the app to focus, the space bar does not trigger play/pause. It does not if you open the app (when it was closed before), and it does not if you tab to the app from another app using alt-tab (if the app is already open).

By the way, I’m on v 5.30.270.

Thanks for reporting it @burninghead

Our updated version of the app (5.0) which should be released very soon, should perform without these issues. Of course, we'll need you to test it! Stay tuned

Any movement on this?

I'm on V5.30.560 / W11 and this bug is annoying. Please, fix it!

doesn’t work with win 10/11 here either, been like this for months. please test this and fix it, it’s a real problem. thank you!

I’m here to report the same issue that @Kukac perfectly described.

Of course I add myself to this topic without opening a new thread for this.

Thanks

Hey @user20838

We'll definitely take care of your feedback, but I've also replied to you on another topic - is there a way you can reply to me first?

I can’t reproduce the issue!

Hi @burninghead, The situation you described regarding the space bar is not a bug, it's a limitation. We are revamping the Deezer desktop experience and hope this limitation will be overcome.

hey @gothant, are you also on Windows 10 or 11?

@Kukac is there a way you could send a video so that we can try and reproduce the issue better?

@Yula I’m on Windows 10.

Don’t know if something is misleading you: you can just try and open the app, DON’T click inside it and press the spacebar. Although the app is on top over every other app or program, the spacebar doesn’t do anything until you click inside the app.
