Safari and Deezer Memory Problem

Deezer Desktop (Mac version) has not worked on my iMac for over a year. Listening to Deezer via web browsers has also been problematic, except for Safari browser… until two days ago. Everything was working fine, but now when I try to listen to Deezer in Safari, this message appears in the browser: ‘This Webpage is using Significant Memory in Safari.’ Seconds after this message appears, Safari quits. This ‘memory’ warning does not appear when I am using any other website - including streaming sites. It seems to be exclusive to Deezer. No amount of online tips to solve the problem, work. Can someone help, please?

@Retrospective

Some information about your mac model and os version would be helpful.

[he/him] Deezer is music, but Deezer and Sonos is party !

Hi Superschlumpf,

Thank you for replying.

I am using a 2019 3GHz  iMac with 24 GB of memory. The OS is Ventura 13.1, which has been

installed on the Mac since December 13th, 2022.

Ok, your hardware seems pretty good and fast. Imho this is a mac os problem like many others after the ventura update. Maybe Deezer has to change something, but Apple definitely made things much more complicated with this update. 🙄

Thanks for your reply. Firefox seems to play Deezer with no problems… for now. Just odd Deezer  suddenly stopped working in Safari. Also, I have had Ventura installed for just over a month, and all was working fine with Deezer until a few days ago, so I am unsure whether it’s a Ventura / Apple Mac problem.

I have the same problem on MacBook M1 8Gb Monterey… Each time I open deezer on safari same ‘out of memory’ message appears, the song starts stuttering and then completely crashes. Hope Deezer is seeing these complaints.

The same issue. It began for me in the middle of the previous week. It even caused twice the crash (reboot) of my iMac  (iMac 21,5 2019 - 8Go - Catalina). At those moments, I couldn’t be sure it was due to Deezer (cos other applications were running). But I've done the test now with the monitor opened : Deezer entry of the memory tab simply increase with no limit ( many Go) until safari blocks the tab with the message “This Webpage is using Significant Memory in Safari”.

I can reproduce it on and on.

Hello Ber Bas and Comedon,

There are many people online offering useless ‘tips’ to try and solve this so-called Safari/Mac problem. It is 100% a Deezer problem. Only Deezer can fix it. Spotify runs with no problems in Safari. ALL websites run properly in Safari, except for guess who?

And before anyone suggests switching off VPNs and turning off Safari extensions etc, please don’t bother! Deezer is the problem, not Apple, not Mac, not Ventura, not Safari.

PS: Comedon, the Deezer problem started with me at around the same time it first started causing problems for you.

I’ve send a request on the french (my natural language) version yesterday. No reply so far.

The problem persists this morning. And I realize there’s no need to start a stream to see the RAM going mad.
