In the last six or so months, my Google Home Mini will not start Deezer on my Vizio E55-E1, which has what is functionally an integrated chromecast.
I have both devices in the same “room” in my home, the Garage, and the Google Home Mini is set up to use the TV as its target “speaker” as well as TV.
“OK Google, play some music” will respond with “playing music from Deezer on GarageTV” but then nothing happens. I can command Google to turn on and off the TV just fine, or adjust the volume. I can say “play music from YouTube” and it will immediately fire up YouTube Music on the TV without issue. All basic functionality exists and works as intended, except for anything involving Deezer.
Before it completely stopped being able to start Deezer on the TV, it would start it, but then lose connection or something because I couldn’t say “next track” or “pause” or “stop” -- it would always respond with “nothing is playing right now.”
I can cast from my phone to the TV without issue, just as I always have been able to. The Google Home Mini (as well as the other few in the house) is able to play Deezer on itself as well -- just not on the garage TV.
Around the same time, Deezer will skip like a scratched CD when playing from that TV every third song or so. It sounds like it’s a buffer underrun. Speed testing from the TV revealed it was only getting about 9mbps from the wifi this morning, so I switched it to a different AP and it’s up to around 30mbps, so hopefully that issue will be resolved. It did not help the Google Home Mini’s inability to start or stop Deezer on the TV.
The TV is updated as far as it can be. It’s an EOL device. It otherwise works perfectly fine, so no, replacing it isn’t really a viable “fix” before that gets suggested. :)
