After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings


Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart 💜?
One comment cited “there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo”
 

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.
 


Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.
 

“The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.”

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

 

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts 💜.

Time to say goodbye to Deezer after X years. Much more expensive than Spotify/Apple music and now the absolute ugliest.

Fire the designer who designed it or cut off his hands so he can never create anything like it again.

Agree I dont want a heart. It's like something from My Little Pony or Barbie. Please change it. The old tried and true logo is good enough for me.

Why purple? Why heart? It doesn’t match like a music App. Please, change it to the last logo. Much better and nicer.

Been with deezer since 2015 and what happened today was a downgrade. I have always loved deezer. But I feel that's gonna come to an end soon..

Just reverted to 7 using an old apk, new version is pretty much total dog vomit in comparison. Disabled app updates, once access for this version is deprecated,  I am leaving if not fixed. Get real deezer this rebrand is totally and utterly HORRIBLE. Wasteful UI with inefficient layout, horrible ugly icon, very very bad colour choices, I have Tidal and Spotify here to compare, and what you have done here looks like commercial suicide.

Me too, but I also use this on PC, so I moved to Spotify

I loved “equalizer bars”!!! And the new logo can be a deal breaker! My wife is gonna think I have a dating app on my phone! Come on, Deezer! What have you been thinking!

I really don't like that you have to scroll down now to see the option on the Favorites page to see your list of albums. The old version didn't require scrolling at all on this page, so this feels like a regression.

 

Agree with the other comments as well that the general visual design feels cheap too. The professionalism and charm of the old interface was one of the things that attracted me to the app in the first place, so this is pretty disappointing to see.

Premium subscriber since 2018, HiFi subscriber since 2021. Spent around 800€ on Deezer since joining.

Cancelled my subscription today. The new icon makes it look like a cheap dating app. The UI with the huge amounts of padding everywhere was what sealed the deal though, I think. The font and colour scheme I could have lived with, maybe, but they murdered the UI in general.

This redesign was entirely unnecessary, and is an objective downgrade. What previously felt like a well thought out, clean and relatively functional interface seems to have been “re-skinned” by a junior design intern, tasked by some out of touch executive who thinks a superficial coat of paint could somehow provide more value than addressing the many existing “functional” deficiencies that already exist within the product.

Oh, I forgot to mention, but my first thought on seeing the new logo was that it looked like Undertale, lol

 

I dunno, I've been feeling a bit weird about the economics of music streaming in general, so I might just cancel and go back to buying mp3’s. Might be a better way to support musicians and bandcamp’s app is now better looking than Deezer, so...

Really disappointed Deezer. You had the coolest, cleanest and best user friendly music streaming app out there which is why I have been subscribed for so long. I'm definitely considering a switch to another service now. Please change it back.

Instead of working on a real deezer Connect, deezer have gone the extra mile in destroying the UI. The icon and the fonts are not connecting with me at all. What have they done😭

I am sad, really. I am feeling betrayed! 

I think I am a Premium user since… 2015/2016 if I am not wrong. All my friends and family use Spotify but I have always been faithful to Deezer.

Who made this decision? An Intern? Please guys, wake up! It’s awful!! Seems like a dating app.

I talked about this new design with my Uber driver and he said it was almost good. His wife was screaming at him of having yet another dating app on his phone, when in reality it was just Deezer app. His wife forced him to uninstall any dating apps from his phone, Deezer included. Uber driver is now trialing music app. Forums seems to be less appealing than before.

It was funny, because for me mobile app looks decent, just icon is bad make.

The new UI is absolutely awful, objectively. It’s messy, it’s ugly. Literally no one asked for the redesign, why would you move things around when we’re all used to the platform as it’s been for YEARS. Just because something hasn’t been changed in a while, does NOT mean it should be changed. This was some busy body who took it upon themselves to tell the dev team to redo the entire interface to satisfy their own ego.

 

I WILL be leaving this platform for spotify if the old UI isn’t brought back.

I was thinking it’s a late Halloween joke, but no it’s real…  I loved the previous colorful design, font, logo, widget. I'm user for 10 years and I'm really disappointed about the new UI especially with the new price plan who is very expensive. I wish they can make an option to roll back. If I have to pay expensive ok, but not for that shitty UI

The new logo is absolute trash and doesn't convey "music". It looks like childish or like knock off dating app for non binary unicorns. You guys are going to get absolutely crushed with this rebrand.
