Listening to music is not something we do just for fun . Music can help us during challenges , affect our emotions and make us show our emotions uncontrollably . What made me post this thread areĀ my own experience and challenges over the years and I decided we can have a pretty nice thread here to everyone to read , learn and relate to others .Ā

Ā

Ā

The song that impacted me the most is ā€œDead come near meā€ by the doom metal band Draconian .Ā

This song is taken from the second album by this Swedish bandĀ  Arcane rain fell released 19 years ago .Ā

When I got to know Draconian I was in my mid 20s and went trough a difficult time , dealing with a severe OCD which impacted my life so much . Those few years were really one of the bad years I have ever went trough . This song made me very emotional and I remember myself crying when I was listening to this song at my room realizing I need to get help .Ā

This is all maybe seems to be sad , but actually itā€™s not . This song made me realize so much on myself and helped me go trough some difficulties .Ā

Ā

Ā

So which songs impacted you the most .Ā

Tell us in the comments .Ā Ā

WellĀ @Noam Asulin,Ā

certainly a touchingĀ story that you shared with us. Thank you for sharing this.

I don't have a song that made an impact on my life. More aĀ kind of music.

In the 80s I was still looking for what I really like. And like everyone who grew up in the 80s, I listened to the famous artists or bands such as Pet Shop Boys, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran and more.

But as a kid I was (and still am) a Transformers fan. And Stan Bush's song really touched me as a child. Wonderful rock music.

So later in the 90s I was looking for what I would really like...I listened to everything: Pearl Jam, Metallica and everything that was modern at the time.

But the turning point was when I heard the album Poetic Justice by the band Lillian Axe. The rock music I knew as a child and this is it! And this brought me back and now 30 years later this is still the type of music I listen to the most. Genuine American Adult Oriented Rock and Melodic Rock. Guys with long hair, hairspray, tight pants...

So it's actually 2 songs that will always stay with me.

Interesting thread @Noam AsulinĀ !Ā šŸ˜Š

Ā

I can't say that any song had an impactĀ on me, but I have one which is connected
with a very interesting musical event or experience.

I like to listen to music, and when I listen to it, it has to be very loud (unfortunately for my housemates and neighbors).
One day, when I was a teenager, no one was at home.
My dad had a big speaker that was almost big as me and it was very powerful.
I opened the window and put that big speaker (I don't know how) on it.
I turned on the amplifier, put the cassette in the tape recorder, turned up the sound to the maximum.
Then I played the song Another One Bites The Dust by Queen.

A song echoed throughout the neighborhood .The window was shaking .
I felt like I was at a concert.
It was an unforgettable musical experience for me.
Fortunately for me, the neighbors didn't call the police.Ā šŸ˜‰

Thank you, @Noam Asulin, for this amazing article! šŸ¤—

"Fame" šŸ©°Ā was a song that made me dream big when I was a kid.

During my childhood, I was just an ordinary girl who dreamed of being a ballerina.
So whenever my parents went out, I did exactly what Nina described in her post.
I would turn on my sound system, put on some records and turn the volume up as loud as I could.
My sister and I would dance until my parents came home.
The happiness and excitement we felt was as if we were performing on a real stage.
I'm grateful that I never had an audience to watch our performances.

Thereā€™s a song that really turned me into music as a fan. The first time I listened to Guns Nā€™ Rosesā€™ - Paradise City, I just loved it. I remember being nextĀ to the radio waiting for any radio station to play the song. Then my parents got me Appetite for Destruction cassette (yes a cassetteĀ šŸ˜±) and it became my favourite band. I learned the lyrics or at least the choruses of Sweet Child oā€™ mine and Welcome to the jungle too, and could not stop singing along (I still do it). It was my first concert too, I will never forget it for 2 reasons. It was just amazing and second, I went with my mumĀ šŸ¤˜šŸ¼.
Enjoy the whole albumĀ :

I have another one . Itā€™s not a song but an album . This album made me go into Metal , including extreme Metal genres .Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park .Ā

I remember the first time I was listening to that album . I went into a friendā€™s house when I was 16 and his brother just bought this CD of a new band . I was listening to it and got hooked by the sound . It took me awhile to evolve to a more heavier stuff . Next was evanescence , Emery , etc. . These days I listen also to black Metal and some other extreme stuff among ā€œRegularā€ music but I will always remember Hybrid Theory as the album which shaped my current state . Iā€™m not listening to this album as much as I used to but this album is still amazing and relevant today. I actually have the anniversaryĀ edition was I got as a gift from my friends . Here are some images .Ā
