New logo: Explanations 💜

After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart 💜?
One comment cited there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts 💜.

Can I change the colour from purple? I don't like people or pink. They are horrible colours. Is this possible to do individually in settings?

Please return playlist information on android

I am very glad that this feature is back in beta, but please make sure that you need a shorter swipe to go to the information about the playlist, because when it is like this, the page refresh is often turned on and it is very inconvenient.

I also expect other improvements in future updates

Some of the comments about it relating to some sectors of the community are quite frankly disgusting and completely agree with @GropplerZorn .

Disgusting? I don’t know which comments you are referring to, but it is a well known psychological fact that the majority of men (don’t ask me why) hate purple (except for Prince). Stop making this political. People seem to prefer the old logo with its rainbow colors and clear indication of being a music app with the shape of a soundwave. If rainbow colors isn’t inclusive in this day and age, I don’t know what is. 86% so far hate the new app design. Me included. Back in the day I chose Deezer because of its beautiful, clear design. I hated Spotify’s Fisher Price look and Apple’s usability was a nightmare. For the same reason I am now ending my subscription with Deezer. I just don’t like the feel of the app anymore.

Oh, and one of the biggest draws towards Deezer was the collaborative playlists. That is coming to Apple Music next month. A dangerous time for Deezer to make such a drastic design change.

It's a kind of drama for me, I use for my classes and we really need to know duration!

Exactly as paetkaa says, I migrated from Spotify to Deezer specifically because at the time Spotify’s UI was very bad and Deezer’s was super clean and simple. Now it’s a cartoonish bright purple mess that’s harder to navigate and look at and read. At least if the purple could be changed to some muted color, the red was fine. Title font looks childish, logo looks like a dating app and the whole branding is lost. Now it’s like any other generic app...

    100% agreement.

When I was deciding what app to stream, I chose Deezer because the UI/UX look was almost perfect.

This shoddy re-design ruined it all.

It was time for a change (I'm going to look for a tool to transfer my data to someone else).

I also 100% agree with this statement above. I wanted to write the same.
Moreover, I cannot recommend Deezer any more as I fee embarrass about its UI.
I am about to leave Deezer now...

This doesn’t clarify. This is absolutely pants if I’m honest. The font choice is awful, the logo is just as bad. The play/skip/rewind and all little buttons have an awful curve to them. I struggled to find the playlists I wanted for a while. This feels really cheap if I’m honest. I’ve had Deezer for years, since maybe 2016. Between these years I’ve used Spotify on the odd occasion when I’ve had a few free months premium on it. This change has now completely justified my move to Spotify. As of 2024 I’ll be off this platform. Incredibly disappointed with the change as are many others :/

Deezer looked great before. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but when I go into my personal playlists, I try to scroll down and it just decided to scroll up and make me choose the wrong song. Very inconvenient.

I hate the new font. Please don't just call yourself 'unique', Deezer, because it's giving 'going through a phase' vibes.

Thank you, - loyal Deezer premium member.

Unless this train wreck of a redesign is reverted by the time my annual subscription is up I will be migrating off Deezer. I originally joined Deezer after my girlfriend recommended it due to the lyrics being available but now that it not even a feature as all platforms do it now (afaik). Flow is (was?) awesome.

I thought I missed the joke when I saw the purple heart thiking it was maybe a temporary halloween update.
