I’m part of iOS beta and I would like to know whether the app was updated to support QirPlay 2 features? When I connect to my AirPlay 2 speaker (only have one so far but updates are coming for the others) I don’t feel any benefits. My understanding was that AirPaly 2 would support long form audio meaning that the song will be loaded in a queue within the speaker’s memory instead of short streaming from the phone.
Can you confirm if it supports AirPlay 2 new features? If not when will it be added?

hello @jeremybonan, AirPlay 2 new features have not yet been added to the iOS beta, we will let you know once that’s the case, I do not have an exact date to give you yet
Cheers!
Hello @Kevin Deezer ,
Thanks for your reply.
Seriously, now that you have started to curate more the music available for each artist (you can do even better), the only things missing to make Deezer perfect is complete AirPlay 2 support and a HiFi option for the family plan. If you manage to be on time for Devialet’s upcoming AirPlay 2 speakers updates you’ll be blessed.
In a previous update on iOS it read that you had implemented AAC (v. 8.4.0 “Test playing M4A files playback]”), do you intend to change the music codec from MP3 to AAC?
Thanks
Jeremy

Hello @Kevin Deezer Do you have any update on this?
Hello @Kevin Deezer Trying my luck on this. Best.
Hi @jeremybonan,
AirPlay 2 is already partially supported by Deezer iOS app:
the multi-room functionality is fully supported
the enhanced buffering is not supported for now, we may consider to work on it in the future
Hello @GuillaumeDZ ,
thanks we’ve already been answered that previously. Considering it’s been out since iOS 11 (iOS 11.4) and more and more speakers are compatible, it’s high time you introduce it. I would dramatically improve Deezer user experience.
could you share a release date/period?

Just to add my 2 cents here: Enhanced Buffering is *the* major improvement of AirPlay 2: No major delay, no stuttering.
It’s really a shame, that it’s not working with Deezer.
Hello everyone, @Kevin Deezer@GuillaumeDZ ,
Hope everyone is well.
Deezer support (France) told me (along a question on the new Deezer Family Hifi Offer) that full AirPlay 2 support was delayed due to ongoing negotiation (licensing?) with Apple. Do you confirm?
Any ETA on enhanced buffering? (Will be a must have feature with HiFi streaming coming on.
Best,
Jeremy
Trying my luck here, any update on AirPlay 2? With all the HiFi fuzz coming from all around the world, it’s a must have?

I don’t get it. Isn’t Airplay 2 supported already? I stream hifi from my Deezer iOS app to my 2. gen Airport Express with no issues?
Indeed but thanks to AirPlay « 1 ». iOS Deezer supports the multi room feature of AirPlay 2 but not the instant streaming and better buffer feature. if you try streaming from iTunes or better Music on an up to date macOS computer you’ll notice that the music starts and stops much faster. Streaming is supposed to be more reliable too. That’s the feature I wish Deezer offered.
Ahh, get it. +1 for me. While it works, it does stall on occasion, andthere is respons latency.

Would anyone clarify on this one? Are there any licensing issues? What’s the plan? @Rudi I’m betting it all on you!
Having tried Deezer’s remote feature with frustrating and limited success, I upgraded to a Bluesound Node 2021. The Bluesound app for Deezer is OK, but missing a few features and has a 2000 limit on my favourites playlist, of which I have over 4200 songs. However the internal DAC is better than what I had previously and, with regards to this topic, the Airply 2 works very well for me. Yes, there is a slight latency in response but not enough to bother anyone that listens to my music and the Airplay feature allows my to stream directly from my Deezer app. No latency would be better, but I not an issue when I focus on the quality of music selection and playback.
Hello Deezer Devs,
Do you think we would get that? A direct access to the AirPlay speakers select view from the player view? Radio France did this (see below) in their app. That would save a lot of taps and make the Deezer experience so much better (while waiting for instant streaming). What do you think?
Thanks.
What do you think? @Kevin Deezer@GuillaumeDZ@Rudi
and @Flo (it would be really nice to have you in this conversation and get some insights. Thanks a lot for the good work, (iOS) Deezer is virtually the app I use most).
New Deezer user here on iOS and Mac. My partner and I use Airplay almost exclusively for playing music in our home. We have an original HomePod in the kitchen and a mini in the bedroom. Plus Sonos Beam and Ikea Symfonisk lamps in the lounge and a JBL Link Portable for the bathroom. Airplay in my opinion is the best multitoom solution for speakers from a mix of manufacturers. As such getting it as slick as possible is very important for me. Obviously the Apple Music app is the benchmark here and is perfect but I SO like my Deezer Flow.
The multiform support is very welcome on Deezer but the latency (~0.75 sec) on play controls feels a little clunky. Also while the phone lock screen control pane updates to reflect what is playing on Airplay (if initiated by voice on the HomePod) the Deezer app does not - which I would like it to. Support for long form queue, I guess would sort that. And I’d feel a warm glow knowing the target device was handling the streaming rather than coming from the phone (which I believe requires a transcode - even if that is to ALAC)
Another thing is the Audio Output control on the play sheet. Currently there are 2 taps to select phone and 3 (Control->AirPlay & Bluetooth->Device(s)) to select an AirPlay device. My view is that the current control should just bring up the AirPlay menu directly. This still requires 2 taps to select the phone as this is on the device’s panel and then only 2 to select an alternative device instead of 3.
The tradeoff is you lose the shortcuts to the Equaliser and Audio Settings (and remote control if you use that). However for me I use these so infrequently I don’t mind going the long route into the main settings. Overall it would save me several taps per day and hundreds per year.
Deezer still does not work with airplay 2 via iOS to an AVR, because it lags buffering. So it’s only good for audiobooks. Streaming music is a horrible experience. Have to keep Apple Music and will unsubscribe Deezer
Hi there,
could we get an update on this?
are you finally considering Airplay 2?
what about making the UI better for Airplay? We made suggestions. best
Hi,
Could we get some updates on this, please
Both on full AirPlay 2 support (instant streaming) and AirPlay UI On the player sheet?

Doesn’t look like anyone from Deezer cares..
To me it looks like the typical scenario: First they do everything to establish their name and get costumers on their side, and once it works they stop caring about their costumers. Bravo!!
The only thing I see, is a lot of bla bla… and that’s it! Sorry guys… but I’m going back to Spotify!
..you also ruined Flow!! I get the same songs over and over again. Please rename it to “Repeat”, that way people know what to expect.
Will AirPlay 2 be on your new year resolutions list? Let us know!
