I’m part of iOS beta and I would like to know whether the app was updated to support QirPlay 2 features? When I connect to my AirPlay 2 speaker (only have one so far but updates are coming for the others) I don’t feel any benefits. My understanding was that AirPaly 2 would support long form audio meaning that the song will be loaded in a queue within the speaker’s memory instead of short streaming from the phone.
Can you confirm if it supports AirPlay 2 new features? If not when will it be added?
Maybe, it will make things easier for third parties to integrate AirPlay 2. Looking forward to it! Let us know!
Hi everyone, we are aware that some users are experiencing difficulties with their connection. To stream Deezer songs on devices that have support for AirPlay2, follow these steps:
-At first, switch on your Apple TV and ensure it is connected to the internet. ...
-Go to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
-Search for Deezer and install the app on your device.
-After the installation, click Open to run Deezer. I found this article on the web that overcome some of the issues Airplay Deezer, please take a look into it.
Thanks @Leonídia.Deezer,
I am sure we all know in the beta forum know how to play via AirPlay. Do you have updates on the full implementation of AirPlay 2 into Deezer? Both iOS and desktop?
best
Hi @jeremybonan unfortunately, we don’t have more updates than the ones I shared with you in the last post.
Hi @Leonídia.Deezer
There was no news in your last post really, only supposed steps to work around AirPlay issue. Is AirPlay 2 support finally on the development roadmap for Deezer ? Do you have a timeline ?
best
Hi @jeremybonan, at this moment there isn’t a timeline for new updates on AirPlay 2. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks for letting us know.
I’d also really love to see full airplay2 implementation in Deezer to get rid of the 2 second delay.
I just signed up to a trial of Tidal and to my surprise they have fully implemented it.. instant streaming and track changing when air playing from my iphone, and even from the macbook using their desktop app- it’s impressive!
I dis not know Tidal did it. Do you know if the desktop app is Electron based? That would bring hope for Deezer to be on par.
Further to the recent comments by Darko on his channels I would hope that for the time being Deezer will continue to support only Airplay 1 and not 2, at least until the lossy transmission of data streams is resolved.
It would have been expected in a major release. Version 10 milestone and not AirPlay 2 in sight. I can live with the new design but best-in-class streaming experience with speakers should be a no brainer for a music app.

If Airplay 2 is world class, should it not be able to support streaming of at least CD quality music? Every indication is that at this point it does not. I prefer to live with the 2 second buffer in Airply 1 until the issue of music quality is resolved in Airplay 2.
Hi @BigFKahuna
I have never read anything like this about airplay 2. The specs state that it takes the very sound file in the buffer in various format, bitrate and sampling… and thus can do better that CD quality. But I am interested to read otherwise.

If I read this article correctly, I need an app such as Deezer (Airplay 1) to support the transmission of CD quality streams in my iPhone13 to KEF LS60 system.
Hi @BigFKahuna,
Got to read your article.
That’s interesting.
But as far as I understand, AirPlay 2 is really supposed to support all formats without transcoding (either upsampling or downsampling), as exposed by Apple during WWDC when it was released.
However, I don’t know what is refraining Music apps to use it properly (legal issues? technical issues?). During the last WWDC, it appears that Apple had updated the way it can deal with third party DRM.
My understanding is that Airplay 2 can possibly support lossless, yet in many instances it does not and further will not tell you if it indeed is steaming lossless. That is to say, Airplay 2 “can”, but not necessarily “will”, if that makes sense.
Yes, I did got your point. It would be interesting to have further insights from Deezer. I agree that there is no sense in having AirPlay 2 if there is a trade off in audio quality.
Any news about this?
Hi @jeremybonan no news about it yet. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Thanks
Hi thanks for letting us know. Could you ask the developers team whether this is now on their roadmap? This would improve a lot the listening experience.
Would love to see an update from the roadmap to get Airplay 2.
This is a much needed update.

The roadmap to supporting Airplay 2 really needs to include a Deezer Connect feature that will allow remote control of other streaming devices, such as streamers or active powered speaker systems, Otherwise the migration over to Airplay 2 will result in a noticeable degradation of sound quality, at which point what is the main strength of Deezer over, lets say, Spotify?
Even Nintendo got it right on first try:
And it has instant streaming enabled AirPlay 2. So it’s something possible for third party! Go Deezer, Go!
Hi @jeremybonan @BigFKahuna thanks for your posts.
I was looking to the thread internally and there was no update since my last post, so I have asked for some news.
If something comes up, I will let you all know. Go Go AirPlay2
