Deezer iOS app and USB DAC thru apple camera connector kit

Hi! Im currently subscribed to Deezer Hifi with a set up of: Ipad or iPhone → Apple camera connector kit → USB DAC/AMP → Headphones

Concern for clarification:

Currently the USB DAC/amp is only showing a sample rate of 44KHZ/24 bit regardless of what file quality I choose (same concern raise by others). Looking at the music playing, it is indicated that i’m playing HIFI but im not sure if actual hifi file (1411kbs) is being sent to my USB DAC.

It does sound better than having the headphones directly out of the ipad/iphone but im not sure if this is due to the amp or if its actually a hifi file.I do really hope that the hifi file is being sent to my dac/amp. Appreciate the help to clarify

Thanks

Hello @Buchoy, yes actual HiFi is sent to your USB DAC, you just need to make sure in the Deezer app settings that the HiFi streaming to devices to be turned on, theoretically it’s set as default.

Have a nice day!

Thank you @Kevin Deezer

Thanks guys. This is working great for me and a fine workaround for not having exclusive DAC access on the desktop.

Please give us instructions how to modify the settinngs, we will appreciate if you share with us the steps in screenshots.

I am also having the HIFI subscription (the icon of the songs shows HIFI) and the dragonfly dac with the apple lightning to camera adapter but I don't get hifi audio at all using Deezer.

The dragonfly shows green color with my iphone + lightning to USB camera adapter.

Green LED on that DAC means 44.1 kHz. Both HQ and HiFi are at that sample rate. So you are in fact streaming lossless already, if you see the HiFi badge on the album art in Deezer.

Hi roderickvd,

You are correct, I did some more listening and actually the app sends lossless signal to my dac and my headphone. Unlike Apple Music, the Deezer app doesn’t support higher audio sample rates, but personally for casual listening and for most of the songs/albums you don’t need it.

So I confirm that the iphone + camera adapter + dragonfly red dac + wired headphones works fine with the Deezer HiFI songs. Just keep in mind that this setup is not so portable and basically doubles the length of one’s phone and doesn’t fit in one’s pockets :D
