Volume normalization

Well, there's an album I like so much of Black Flag titled "Damaged", it sounds quite low on any version of Deezer (smartphone app/web browser/desktop app), it would be nice if there was another option besides the “normalize volume/equalize” one that makes louder the sound on any record, particularly the older ones.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. In what OS do you listen to Deezer on? There are third-party apps that can boost your volume, for example. Our iOS app equaliser can also support a difference. Could I have the link for the track so that I can test on our side as well?

What does It mean very soon ? Can you specify date of inplemwnting update for iOS ?

Thanks for reaching out. It's currently being tested on Beta so we're expecting to have it implemented in one of our next iOS releases - once we have a date or the exact version, we'll be letting you know 

Hi @Antonio Ricoveri so sorry for the late reaction. Volume normalisation is now available on all devices and should fix this issue 

Please click on Favourites (the small heart) » settings (the small gear wheel) » select audio settings » activate Volume normalisation

I have tried volume normalization on Android (app version 6.1.22.49). I don’t know if it’s beneficial for people who listen to mixed playlists a lot. I listen mostly to albums, and for that, normalization still makes things worse. I’ll have to keep it disabled.

Here’s an example (which does not need normalization anyway): Album Breathe deep the dark by Destiny’s End: Track “Breathe deep the dark“ is much louder than the next one “To be immortal“ when normalization is enabled.

I guess some of the track's characteristics can affect volume too - so it isn't a feature for all tracks. Good to know. Thank you for your contribution!

Thanks, @Rudi! Here’s another observation concerning volume, but probably just my car’s fault. (It’s a 2019 Seat Leon with Beats Audio.)

I was listening to Metallica - Master of puppets (remastered, 8 tracks) via Bluetooth, with volume normalization off. Track 1 was much louder than track 2. But when I paused and resumed track 2, it got louder (approximately matching track 1).

I was not driving, so it could not be caused by the speed-dependant volume adjustment.

I checked at home, also with Bluetooth, and volume was okay. So this time probably no interesting feedback for Deezer, but I’m not sure, so I’m telling you. :-)

App version: 6.1.23.108 on Android
