Scrobble tracks properly to/Improvements to Last.fm integration

Thanks, regarding Deezer scrobbling errors I will use it for scrobbles of artist profiles like "David Lindley El Rayo-X" who is one of my favorite guitar players:

Luckily I only have a few scrobbles of those, so it will not take too long to correct them manually one by one. When I noticed it back then, I mostly quit using Deezer for his music, and I guess other Last.fm users react the same way when they notice it for their favorite artists like Marina & the Diamonds etc.

It will take longer to fix the missing title additions in brackets on the recent Beatles reissues like the Deluxe Editions of Sgt. Pepper or the White Album. The additional tracks and remixes are missing these title additions which identify the individual tracks, so there are way too many Deezer scrobbles for the usual tracks and none e.g. for "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Take 9 and Speech)" and similar tracks:

Hopefully one day the autocorrection on Last.fm will catch all of these errors automatically, but that will take some more time until the developers have enough free resources to handle them. At least subscribers can already fix them now in their libraries.

Deezer does not scrobble certain artists/titles correctly.

For instance, it scrobbles Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds correctly, but Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes would appear as just "Frank Carter The Rattlesnakes". This also happens with song and album titles (e.g. You & Me would just scrobble as "You Me").

I've also noticed that The Walkmen's album "Bows + Arrows" won't scrobble at all.

Additionally, tracks uploaded under "My Mp3s" on Deezer (i.e. tracks not available on Deezer and uploaded by the user) are not scrobbling at all.

This has been a recurring issue ever since I started using Deezer and it is quite frustrating to have to edit each and every scrobble relating to a certain artist or album.

Could you advise on this issue?

I think he has already voted for this idea and just wanted to summarise what has already been said here and elsewhere. Actually the only way to avoid Deezer's internal scrobbling errors is to not use it, but rather use the web scrobbler browser extension with the web player. It can also save your edits in case you have to edit scrobbles and apply them automatically the next time you play that song. HiFi playback would not be possible with that method though, so I don't use it.

Editing wrong Deezer scrobbles in your Last.fm library has just become a lot easier, because you don't have to edit each scrobble manually anymore. So now you can add the missing ampersand symbols in artist, album and track names quickly now, also missing additions in () when they are necessary to distinguish between tracks. This is a subscriber-only feature though:

There's one specific album that's not scrobbling on the Deezer Windows 10 App, neither on the Deezer Android App. ONE SINGLE ALBUM.

I don't know what does these apps have against Esperanza Spalding's Emily's D+Evolution. I know it's an odd one, but if Arrigo Barnabé can be scrobbled, why not Esperanza Spalding?

On the web version it does scrobble, though.

My guess is that there exists a redirection on Last.fm for the spelling you or rather Deezer chose for the album title, as there are at least four different ones:

So if you disable automatic correction of spelling errors in your Last.fm settings, you might find where your Deezer scrobbles originally went to and on which album page they were actually counted.

There also might be an issue with the "+" character besides the different apostrophes which might have been left out by Deezer's scrobbling, but I did not check that. In any case, if you are a subscriber, you can edit those spelling errors now in your Last.fm library.

When I compare the available albums in Deezer's web player and desktop app, the web player does not show the Deluxe Edition while the desktop app only shows that one, not the normal one. So that could be one hint what happened (keep in mind that title additions in brackets are left out by Deezer's scrobbling option), furthermore Deezer uses the ´ apostrophe character, not ' in the album title.

OK, in the meantime I have checked scrobbling with that album, and for me it does not scrobble anywhere with the internal option of Deezer. So probably it works for you in the web player, because you have installed the Web Scrobbler browser extension. I have no idea why the internal scrobbling does not work for that album though. By the way, it also scrobbles with the Spotify desktop app.

Yeah, bluezzbastardzz, you figure it right. It's not a matter of spelling. It doesn't count as scrobbled at all. It's only scrobbling on the web app because of sweet Web Scrobbler. Deezer doesn't understand the beauty of that album!

I tested with some other songs suggested by Last.fm's community manager, and it seems the Plus sign is the cause for not scrobbling a track, e.g. anything from Florence + The Machine or 1+1 by Beyoncé. He thinks Deezer might not convert these special characters (+, &) to the hex codes. But it's on Deezer's developers to figure this out, as these songs scrobble properly from elsewhere.

Are scrobbles delayed for anyone else? Noticed this a couple hours ago but I assumed it was something on last.fm's side but other apps seem to scrobble fine.
