I have been trying Qobuz and Spotify with LMS and both work very well. I would recommend other Squeezebox / LMS users to switch. Like many audiophiles on here, we would prefer to stay using Deezer, but given the fact that Deezer login is no longer supported via LMS, it makes sense to abandon Deezer forever. It’s a shame because I originally chose Deezer as it had the best cross platform device support but that is no longer the case.

Currently trialling Qobuz - some tracks available in Deezer are not available in Qobuz however that’s kinda offset by the Qobuz HD content which sounds pretty good.

Not only users like that, it will also help any users still with squeezebox devices too.

i have a mix of radio, boom, sb3, transporter and LMS running on daphile on a fanless pc.  I use transporter rather than pi solution as it allows me to clock lock my dac to be master clock so suits my hi-fi nicely.

so we have all the new users, and all the old users and a lot of mix in between.

Also contacted Deezer via Facebook and explained tech support seem to think it’s a dead system but explained LMS is community developed and thriving and hoped they could pass info to correct people.

they replied saying they had contacted correct department and passed the info on to correct person.  They also suggested voting on here was also a good idea.

With regrets, I cancelled my deezer premium suscription. Going to qobuz or tidal because we have now two hifi/hires streaming providers available without msb.com.

Maybe I will go again with deezer if a plug-in is available.

I listen to Deezer HiFi on my competent speakers that enable high quality sound reproduction. LMS via a Raspberry Pi is my source, ab cheap, reliable and easy to use device. If the community effort to provide a new integration after mysqueezebox shutdown fails due to missing support by Deezer’s technical department, I will cancel the family HiFi subscription.

I kindly request the technical department to provide a solution ASAP.

Deja vu! I moved to Deezer in 2017 after Spotify support for LMS was withdrawn at short notice due to an API change. I’ve been really happy with Deezer and have advocated them to friends and family.

Ironically, Spotify support was reinstated. However, given their response or lack thereof at the time, I’m more inclined to switch to Qobuz, if Deezer can’t be pursuaded that there is a thriving community using LMS that they’ll miss out on.

Customer Loyalty is a hard won thing!

If Deezer fails to deliver I will switch to Qobuz. Spotify and Tidal are no-gos for me.

I will definitely not buy different hardware just to please Deezer.

I'm paying for a service and if they don't know how to satisfy their customers, then they will lose them. That's how the open market works.

I had a great time with Deezer and would be actually a little sad if I had to leave, but I am not eager on wasting my money.

Same here: I have signed up for a Qobuz account when the announcement from logitech came out. I migrated all my favorites with the free soundiiz account you get when you sign up. The LMS plug-in for qobuz works flawlessly. Unfortunately nothing comparable to deezer flow, but better than no music at all or having to invest in completely different hardware.

I will cancel my deezer account end of February when mysqueezebox.com will be shutdown if there is no action on Deezer side to enable the community to develop a LMS plug-in. Very sad.

Hello,

Thank you for your idea!

IMHO, It’s better to ask for public APIs that cover all the functionalities offered by Deezer or any kind of solution allowing to get the same result. Why? By doing that you offer a lot of possibilities to the communitie. Moreover It will probably touch more Deezer users as it will allow to solve several issues:

  • Allow third party Hifi Devices (Sonos, Bluesound, Wiim, Denon, Octavio, Sonoro, Nuprime, Triangle, Zidoo...) to benefit from all the Deezer functionalities → This point touches quite a lot of people. Currently, on third party devices, the Deezer functionalities are really poor compared to what you have with the smartphone/tablet app.
  • The use of Deezer via the existing Logitech Squeezebox
  • The use of Deezer via Squeezelite → For devices like Raspberry Pi and all the devices on which you could use Squeezelite
  • The use of Deezer on Raspberry Pi directly without Squeezelite and LMS or any other devices with the appropriated app (to be developped)

You also have a higher probability to see Deezer doing something, ‘one thing’ that will preserve a bigger amount of users / reccuring fees / subscriptions.

One thing is sure, if there is no solution I will have no other choice and will change for another music service (Qobuz, Spotify).

Deezer really are missing a trick with their seeming reluctance/inability to get themselves embedded into all of these new streaming products, and I include LMS in that. Amazing that they can afford to give up those potential revenue streams - maybe they have too much money already. If I were a shareholder I’d be asking questions about why they are not looking at these opportunities.

I’ve just signed up with Qobuz, it was so easy to install the LMS plugin, maybe they are just not smart enough to be able to provide the right tools to allow integration with LMS.

I just moved to Spotify after 10 years using Deezer. I can‘t understand why Deezer ist not providing an API like Spotify does. I had to move because mysqeezebox.com will close in February and there is no plugin for Deezer for LMS. Now I run LMS on a raspberry pi4 with picoreplayer and spotty plugin. The Spotty plugin interface is even better as the Deezer interface ever was. I moved all my playlists from Deezer to Spotify with an app called songshift, which worked perfectly. I loved Deezer but they don‘t understand that they are loosing clients with a non open API. Good bye Deezer.

This is GREAT news for the Deezer/LMS community. Well done Philippe44! for giving the Deezer subscribers some hope that we can still use Deezer with LMS.

Lets hope that Deezer cooperate and play their part in implementing this new Deezer plugin.

Cheers

A somewhat semi official response from Deezer? Fingers are crossed that community managers are included in product and dev meetings and discussions.

We’ll probably see more People here after the 19th of march (shutdown of the mysqueezebox.com).

I'm sure that a number of concerned users don't express their opinion as long as everything's running smoothly.

I guess some people just don’t engage in the technical and engineering side of how a streaming service like Deezer works, as you say “as long as everything’s running smooth” they will not get involved when there is major issue that could potentially spoil their listening experience…….they may wake up and smell the coffee on the 19th March unless there is a fix between Deezer and Logitech before then.

I imagine they will be quite a few punters that will jump ship and go to another streaming service without campaigning to keep Deezer/LMS running together as a great service for the music industry…...yes we must not forget it’s all about the music we all love.

Cheers

I switched to Deezer from Spotify a while ago. This was mainly prompted by a number of artists that my family like pulling their catalogues from Spotify. However, it was the fact that LMS integration was available which made this a viable choice. I have to say that during the time I was using it, Spotify integration worked quite well so maybe I will have to go back to that or look into other services.

Hi, as @Leonídia.Deezer  already mentioned in another topic, our teams are currently looking  if there is any possibility to bring Deezer back, however, we don’t want to give any false expectations that it will happen.

So please stay tuned and keep an eye here and on Logitech forums, as there may be a workaround available. We will inform you if there’s any official method to use Deezer again on Squeezebox.

As it stands right now, it’s looking like Deezer is the only major streaming service to disappear when mysb.com/mysqueezebox.com officially shuts down March 19th(?)

Logitech Media Server (LMS) already had many native plugins for various streaming services/radios, but relied on legacy mysb.com/mysqueezebox.com site for connections to others because the open source community couldn’t get answers.

Over time that has appeared to have changed with the other supported services - but not Deezer.

Now new native ones are actively being built or maintained by the the open source community for:

  • Pandora (Pyrrha)
  • Tidal (Tidal local)
  • Spotify (Spotty)
  • QoBuz
  • Many others including a bunch of native radio plugins

In 2020 Tidal was the big kid on the block and I almost went with them, but instead I chose the smaller underdog site with what I considered the better iPhone app at the time.

My annual subscription is up in November(?) subscription. With 1000’s of favorited albums & tracks and playlists created the switchover will be painful but if there is no movement by Deezer that allows credential passing/stream access so the open source community to build a plugin -certainly by mid-year- I’ll be forced to start the switch likely to Tidal.
