I’m also switching from spotify to Deezer. I really need that feature, it’s a mess without it.

What’s the current state @Jaime.Deezer @Flo.Deezer  ?

I also add my vote for this feature to be implemented.
...
I guess the reason is that we, who need a way to organize our 750 favourite albums, constitute only a few percent of the listening community. The rest 99 % only listen to the recent pop hit playlists...

We can probably wait forever to get this feature. I have given up.

Better to collect vinyl's and order them in the bookshelf.

Unfortunately, @daniellj was right.

However, seven years ago I could seem like Deezer did listen to user feedback:

As well as six years ago:

Last year Deezer confirmed that they have no plans to implement this feature though:

So, instead of waiting for another seven years for no reason, why not try out Tidal (tidal.com)? According to news they implemented this feature back in 2021 (roon forum, android police).

At least, I plan to test out their service. And, if their folder system works well (I need folders and sub folders) I will move there. Spotify also have a folder system. However, it is not possible to play all music of a parent folder, when music is organised into sub folders (this is a great functionality that they had for a while).

It seems like Apple Music also have this feature.

Amazon Music have not implemented this, it seems like.

If anyone else have suggestions of other music services that has implemented folder support, please let me know. I am sure there are many more out there that will consider streaming services with a proper folder implementation.

Too bad Deezer did not want to create this feature, as I quite enjoyed their service. These French guys can be quite stuck in their ways though.

Also surprised how this idea gets constantly ignored. Can Deezer support respond on why this is the case, considering that Deezer falls behind competition here? I am now after many years with Deezer checking out Tidal in particular due to their folder feature. If that works fine, I will switch if Deezer does not plan to address this in the near future.

I just wanted to migrate from Spotify to Deezer only to discover this feature is missing… after years of people requesting it! This really is a deal breaker for me because I surely won’t scroll through my 300+ playlists without a way to organize them.

Are there still developers working for Deezer? This doesn’t give me much hope for the future and I think I will cancel my yearly subscription. When you can’t even implement a simple folder feature, how long do i have to wait for more complex features? 70 Years?

You get my point. Implement this feature ASAP or i will pay Spotify extra money out of spite.

surprised still doesnt exist

Reading this thread is quite disheartening and makes me feel uncertain about whether Deezer cares at all about its users & clients. The number of upvotes on this feature request and the amount of time that has passed make Deezer’s refusal to even explain why they aren’t implementing this feature an absolute insult to users who take the time to interact on this community board.

I just PayPal’d Daniel Ek from Spotify 100 € just because they have a Folder Feature and you don’t.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

7 years have passed.

650+ upvotes

250+ Comments

Many topics started on the issue (just to be merged)

Is Deezer going to do something about this?

Migrating here is a headache for music lovers with varied taste and I have very bad luck with navigating within my newly imported 60.000 tracks across 270 playlists

+1

Also looking to switch from Spotify. I transferred all my songs and playlists to Deezer but unfortunately the lack of playlist organisation is a blocker to me becoming a paying customer.

If you ever want to stream to a Chromecast device, I’d stay away from Deezer as well!

@Jaime.Deezer - there’s a few separate feature requests getting merged in. Any more thought on whether Deezer will implement folders?

Tired of waiting for a feature that seemingly never will be implemented, I have now made the switch to Tidal. There they have folders. I can recommend everyone to take a look. You get a one month free trial, so gives you plenty of time to check out their catalogue and their functionality.

Tidal ftw!

Just add dynamic tabs at the top that let us quickly filter our favorites. For example, tabs like Chill, Energize, Sleep, or Relax could instantly sort music by mood or energy level. Within each, the system could further organize by genre or subgenre (like House, Deep House, Organic, etc.), so we can explore our favorites through quick and intuitive taps.

As yet another new user who is leaving spotify for a myriad of reasons, I am dismayed by the lack of support for users who utilize a large number of playlists.

While I will be on Deezer for the immediate future, all another service which has such playlist features needs to do to capture my subscription is implement similar AI policies to Deezer and I will migrate there instead.

And that’s to say nothing of the (apparently) recent change to sorting playlists in order of most recently updated (which cannot be adjusted on windows, which is where I use the service).

The entire way I setup my music library is fundamentally broken on Deezer.

I would also like to make it clear that this isn’t to bash or complain about Deezer. This is just my incredulity at Deezer not leaping at the chance to capitalize on people fleeing from spotify. If you want to retain those users you need to mirror at least some of the reasons they originally chose spotify.
