Gapless playback between tracks

There should be no gap between tracks running into each other. This is a basic thing for the listeners experience.

Hi @andyrome64

I believe that gapless on all platforms is due soon (something to do with the whole Deezer library has to be recoded, they did HiFi first but the standard files are next).  I’m waiting for it too (I use the desktop player more than anything else and don’t have HiFi subscription!).

I'm a "Deezerhead" (fanboy) and just love music! (Please note even though I love all things Deezer I do not work for Deezer and therefore cannot assist with account issues etc.)

As a follow-up to my previous post: if I understand the FLAC library supports gapless playback but the mp3 library not yet.

So even if I am a Deezer Hi-Fi user when I stream to a Chromecast device I always stream mp3 files, regardless of the type of Deezer subscription I have. There is a setting on the Android app about sound quality with Chromecast and I can set it to high fidelity but apparently it doesn't work otherwise the playback would be gapless. Am I wrong?

Hmmm…

I’m guessing when you cast it will be HiFi quality but I know casting is handled different by the device being cast to - it’s not really the control of the phone app anymore (hence why gapless won’t work).

I think this will change once gapless is rolled out to all platforms.

@Vladimír H I’m looking forward to reading from you  I’m very happy about finally having the gapless on my side, so far I didn’t notice anything wrong, even the playlists with titles from various albums sound great

Hi, so I’m writing a follow up like promised.
Gapless playback on Android seems to work now fine. There were times, when playback has cut off a tiny piece of new or old track before playing the next one - transition just wasn’t smooth. Now it sounds just alright, but the question is, when will be the destop app ready? I stayed on HiFi subscription, but only because I believe you can make it work there as well.
Thanks!

Hello @Vladimír H, thanks for letting us know that it works fine. We don’t have news yet about the exact time of release of gapless on the desktop app, we’re still working on making it available for everyone on mobile. We’ll share it with you once we have more information

Gapless so far hasn’t working on any version I’ve tried (web or desktop).  Hopefully this can happen soon because this is almost everything I’ve wanted for a streaming service like this, except for this one dealbreaker and it would be such a shame to go back to a service that’s worse in every other way.

I am sorry for asking, but is Gapless playback available on Android and Web Player?

It seems like it is LIVE, but some devices may not be on the list? Also previous poster said it didn’t work on his Web Player. If something is live, then is not working? I might listen dj mixed hard dance album today to see that on Android for myself. After all my vacation started now.

I will leave soon for the spa on two buses and will enjoy Deezer on the go.

If you can answer my question, would be nice, but is not needed. In next two or four hours I will be in spa anyway relaxing, may you have an awesome weekend also. Best wishes to you all.

This should be fixed asap :( Once you have working solution for iOS and Android, why does it need to take so long for desktop users? I’m listening to music 98% of the time on my desktop, so other platforms are not interesting for me at all

As far as I know, the rollout of gapless playback for iOS and Android users is not finished yet, and the feature has not been implemented and/or tested in the desktop app and web player yet.

My experience is that gapless playback on my android phone with deezer hifi is yet NOT functioning flawless. When I playback hifi mixes or albumtracks that should merge seamlessly into another track I still hear small switches or glitches between the tracks.

I have been monitoring this topic for a while now and listened to some albums and mix-albums since the announced gapless update overhere and I notice that there has been made progress in this particular issue, still the merge isn't seamless yet. Is it a matter of tweaking now to let the merging of tracks be seamless or is this an ongoing issue?

@ Deezer: could you please give us a status update on this? Thanks, Erwin.
