Enable Elite/HiFi on Squeezebox

I have tried everything, and my Squeezebox Touch will still only play 320kbs mps, not flac, even though my LMS is updated to 8.1.1

Quite frustrating :-( Might as well go back to regular subscription if I can’t get it to work. Don’t need Hifi on my iPhone :-)

Unfortunately it appears to be not working for me. I’ve just tried it out but my Squeezebox Touch keeps playing MP3. I logged out from Deezer on MySqueebox and even uninstalled and re installed the plugin. The result is always the same. (No HIFI)

Is there a magic trick?

You need to run the latest LSM version on your server. I’m running mine from a Synology NAS.

At first it didn’t work out for me, and we found out the culprit was my user account at Deezer. So, I closed my old one, and created a new one (annoying as it killed my Flow, but I used a service to export favorites and the like to my new account), and now my Touch streams Deezer Flacs. 

It is such a nice feature to use deezer HIFI on my Squeezebox.

But I have the same problem described before. My deezer HIFI family account only streams mp3. If I use another account with HIFI the squeezebox streams flac. Is there any way to find the error causing the lack of flac streaming on my old account? I tried everything from disinstalling the plugin and disconnect the squeezbox integration. I would like to keep my old account, because all my family members are connected to it. 

I’m afraid not. I created a new account which worked with hifi, then Deezer support merged it with my old account to keep all my data, and then hifi stopped working again. Then I created a new account again, deezer hifi worked, and I just used an external source to migrate all my favorites etc.

I used to have a Deezer Hifi subscription that I used on My Squeezeboxes with the ickStream plugin. After the plugin was discontinued in 2019 I downgraded Deezer subscription and i was ready to leave Deezer altogether… until recently after two years Hifi is supported again on squeezebox. Even better, it is now part of the premium subscription and not a separate more expensive subscription any more. One happy costumer here.

Eternal gratitude as well to Michael on the squeezebox forum who did the magic of updating the open source squeezebox plugin for Deezer. Without him it wouldn't have happened.

Hi everyone, just in case somebody steps in this topic, we had recently an issue with login on Squeeze Box.

That issue was caused by an improvement that we made adding a new layer of security to the login process. 

Today we have whitelisted Squeeze IP address and you should not have more issues in the log in process.

Also as Squeeze Box still presents our very very old logo, we have reach out Logitech to try update our logo.

If you still get any issue log in, please let us know.

In my case I am running LMS 8.3.1 and the deezer logo is modern and the connection does not pose any problems. I receive my music well in FLAC so everything is going very well! Thanks to the deezer devs for maintaining Deezer under LMS!

mysquuezebox.com will close for good this month, and with it goes support for Deezer. This is because access to Deezer is via mysqueezbox.com There is however a solution, because with the support of Deezer, it would be possible to create a Plug-in App which would work independently of mysqueezbox.com So, fellow Squeezebox users, please lets petition Deezer to agree to support such a Plug-in. Just to be clear, Deezer would not need to do anything, except agree to a method of authentication, the SB community have the skills to build the App itself

Nevertheless is important to highlight that Logitech discontinued the Squeezebox platform back in 2012 and it is through a custom media server that was create after, that several apps managed to keep working like Deezer.

Our teams are currently looking  if there is any possibility to bring Deezer back, however, I don’t want to give any falses hopes that it will happen.

So please stay tuned and keep an eye Here and on Logitech forums, as there may be a workaround available. We will inform our users if there’s any official method to use Deezer again on Squeezebox.
